American threatening to ruin my bracket, which is cool
8:21 p.m. -- Can someone remind me once again why Virginia fired Jeff Jones? American University is leading Villanova 41-31 at halftime. Jones, who led the Cavs to five NCAA appearances in seven season before he was fired by his alma mater, has turned American into a pretty solid program. Meanwhile, the Cavs were probably the worst team in the ACC this year, and the school has fired two coaches since it fired Jones.
It's a potential upset that would shred my bracket, but make me all the more giddy, in part because I still think the Big East isn't quite the powerhouse the media (curse you media know-it-alls!) has made it out to be. Also, it would make me giddy because, and I'm just throwing this out there, but does anyone else think Jones and real estate mogul Creig Northrop may have been separated at birth?

To answer your question, one of hte main causes of Jones' firing at UVa was that he had an affair with a cheerleader -- a student -- while married, and it became public knowledge in Charlottesville.
