Breunig, Faust picked for new all-star game

Before teaming up at Maryland next season, Martin Breunig and Nick Faust will join forces at the inaugural NeXt All-American Classic in suburban Chicago on April 3.

Breunig, a 6-foot-9 forward from St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in Wisconsin, and Faust, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from City, will suit up for the "Got Now" team.

The game features 24 of the top-ranked players in the country, with a portion of the proceeds going to Chicago Public Schools athletics. It will be televised live at 2 p.m. on CBS College Sports Network.

uh, no mention of whittington...works for me

Excellent!

It will be a great opportunity to see both in live action on national TV against other top 2011-12 college freshman talent. Will give us an idea as to the potential both may have to contribute to the Terps as freshman.

Knock em dead, gentlemen!
Have a great game!

GO TERPS!!

Whittington is only a 2-star recruit, thereby probably not eligible for "all-star" games

What about Hubert? Matt what's the scoop cause as Gary says we are looking forward to next year now...

ArdmoreAri: I believe he still wants to visit UNC before deciding. -- Matt

Everyone:

While I understand that comparisons between Bruenig and Whittington are inevitable, all of us need to relax on Whittington (as well as Bruenig) and let them develop in accordance with what their talent dictates. Much of Whittington's hype would appear to have evolved simply because he is a local product. To over-hype him (and I am not suggesting that he will not develop into a fine college or pro player) is not fair to him, particularly if his ceiling ends up being somewhat lower than the Durant-sized expectations that some have placed upon him.

Salivating at the prospects for next year if we can add Hubert. That will take more pressure off J-Will (hoping he returns) and Faust is a gun. Missing the post-season this year is definitely enough to light a fire.
