Reports: Jimmy Stewart headed to SEC
Last week Maryland parted ways with Fork Union (Va.) offensive tackle Larry Mazyck, who promptly committed to former Terps offensive coordinator James Franklin at Vanderbilt.
On Monday, Island Coast (Fla.) linebacker Jimmy Stewart reportedly did the same, switching his pledge from the Terps to the Commodores.
“I’m very happy with the switch,” said Stewart, who had 10.5 sacks for Island Coast in 2010. “Playing in the SEC, that’s a big plus too.”
Stewart, a 6-foot-3 1/2, 210-pound senior, committed to the Terps in October over offers from Colorado State, Kansas, Memphis and Middle Tennessee State. He was rated a two-star prospect by Rivals.com and Scout.com, and a three-star player by ESPN.com and 247Sports.com.

Matt:
I might have to ask you to stop doing your "meet the recruit" series. If I'm not mistaken, this is the 3rd verbal commitment who has decommited or been dumped within a week of your profile!
This one is a bit odd. Don Brown really saw something in the kid, was in on him early, and stayed with him. Since Brown is staying at MD, I wonder why Stewart switched.

Math Major -- Too funny, although you might have a point. I think I've now done five season recaps for recruits that aren't signing with Maryland. Fun times!

Appears with the recent decommits we have some xtra spots. Maybe we can take on players verbaled elsewhere that have 2nd thoughts pre-signing day?? Would have thought we'd pull a UCONN verbal or two but guess recruits are more attached to the assistant that recruited them than the head guy??
