Reports: Fla. DT Keith Bowers commits to UM
Maryland has reportedly landed its fifth prospect from Florida for the 2011 recruiting class.
Keith Bowers, a 6-foot-1, 260-pound defensive tackle from Dwyer High in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., pledged to the Terps on Tuesday, according to Rivals.com and the Palm Beach Post.
They contacted him early and never backed off despite a coaching change (Ralph Friedgen to Randy Edsall). Defensive coordinator Don Brown, who recruited Bowers, was retained by Edsall.
Bowers, a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com, was a first-team Palm Beach Post all-area selection after finishing his senior season with 74 tackles and 15 sacks. He picked the Terps over offers from Illinois, Kansas and Northern Illinois, among others.
Bowers joins Felix Varela safety Undray Clark, Lely cornerback Makinton Dorleant, Naples safety Lukas Foreman and Island Coast linebacker Jimmy Stewart as Maryland-bound recruits from Florida.
Efforts to reach Bowers and his coach were not immediately successful.

Year or so ago, it was said that Terps were dropping out of Fla recruiting - guess Don Brown has chgd all that for the better. Says a lot for Edsall that Brown was retained - good recruiter & defense was decent for 1st time in years.

Just once I'd like to look at the top 100 recruits and see a Terp symbol on the right side of the page...
