Quick note on Rodman Noel

There have been several reports of Maryland parting ways with defensive back recruit Rodman Noel on subscription sites over the past week or two.

On Tuesday, Milford Academy (N.Y.) coach Bill Chaplick confirmed those reports.

“He was going to play for [Maryland defensive backs coach] Kevin Lempa," Chaplick said. "When Kevin Lempa didn’t get rehired, I think that thing kind of died.”

Was Noel disappointed that the Terps let him go?

“Not really. He has other offers," said Chaplick, noting that Noel has visited North Carolina State. The Falcons coach said he thinks Noel "will be in the ACC" next season.

Noel is a four-star prospect from Everett, Mass., who spent a prep season at Milford after missing NCAA qualifying standards coming out of high school. Rivals.com ranks the 6-foot-3, 206-pound safety as the No. 7 prep school player in the country.

First bad news since Edsall took over. But if the kid wasn't disapointed about Maryland letting him go, he probably wasn't going to come play for us anyway...hopefully not a big loss

Soooo easy to let a 4-star guy
leave. So minus him that gives us what -- ZERO 4-star players (don't count Clark our 2009 signee). Uh, I'm sure our 2-star unrated players will help turn the program around. This class is shaping up as another mediocre group.

Disappointing, but not surprising given the coaching change. It will be unfair to judge Edsall and his staff on this years class, give them a full year and lets see what it looks like next winter.

I don't get it? we had a 4 star committed and Edsall didn't care to keep him?? what am i missing here??

csquare -- When he committed to Maryland, he still needed a higher test score. I'm not sure if anything has changed since then, but it's worth keeping in mind for now.

well Don I if you dont count Clark you can't count Noel as a 4 star either because he was a 2009 kid.

3/4 star kids are basically the same he wasnt a high 4 star or a consensus 4 star. high 4 stars are guys like kenny tate who are interchangeable with 5 star kids.

recruiting is an inexact science.
