Weekend wrap — Parker's team goes down
Mychal Parker's high school career came to an end Friday night.
The Maryland small forward commitment's Miller School squad dropped a 69-51 game to Blue Ridge in the Virginia Independent Schools Division I semifinals.
Parker got into some foul trouble of his own and was blanketed defensively down the stretch. As a result, last year’s tournament MVP failed to score in the second half and finished with eight points, well under his 20-point-plus average. The 6-foot-6 sharp-shooter will be a familiar face in the years to come for ACC fans, as he will play for Gary Williams at Maryland.
• The Arizona Republic's Richard Obert broke down the games of the four best high school seniors in Arizona, including a look at the college potential of Maryland-bound Terrell Stoglin.
Stoglin is a true point guard who is tailor-made for the ACC and Maryland coach Gary Williams' half-court offense. He is a scoring point guard who can hit the 3 and is very good at distributing, much like Steve Blake was when Maryland won the national championship.
• After Montverde (Fla.) Academy forward Haukur Palsson committed to the Terps on Friday, Testudo Times' Ben Broman broke down the Terps' scholarship situation and the remainder of the 2010 class. Click here for the breakdown.
• Terps junior point guard target Sterling Gibbs led Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) to a 65-56 win over Bergen Catholic.
Junior guard Sterling Gibbs scored 33 points for top-seeded Seton Hall Prep to advance to the North Non-Public A semifinals.
• UM junior point guard target Quinn Cook helped DeMatha to a 53-47 win over St. John's (D.C.) in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference semifinals.
Cook led DeMatha with 13 points. St. John's guard Chris Martin had a game-high 20 points.
• The Oregon Schools Activities Association denied Terrence Ross' hardship waiver for eligibility, effectively ending the former Maryland shooting guard commitment's high school career.
Ross, The Oregonian 2008 Class 5A Player of the Year as a sophomore at Jefferson, recently transferred back to the North Portland school after spending his junior year and the first half of his senior year at Montrose Christian in Rockville, Md.
• Maryland women's small forward signee Alyssa Thomas guided Central Dauphin to a 51-38 win over Harrisburg for the Pennsylvania District AAAA championship.
Alyssa Thomas led the Rams, finishing with a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds.
• UM center recruit Alicia DeVaughn helped the Broward All-Stars to a 55-45 win over the Miami-Dade All-Stars in the South Florida All-Star Classic.
Kianna Conner of Dillard added 15 points and Alicia DeVaughn of Ely had 13 points for Broward.

Matt-
Is it true that the terps at one point went to watch Raheem Christmas, and after the game they asked the coach for a meeting with him because they were thinking of offering and the coach laughed and basically said no to waste their time? Is it really that bad out there for the Terps Recruiters?
Is it realistic to think we have a shot at Cook or Gbinije?
We offered Hubert right?
Any real shot at Gilchrest, Quincy Miller, or Mikeal Hopkins?
I heard that Keith Booth has been associated in some way with Cook and Hopkins, and that Chucky D has had a relationship with Mike Gilchrest for a long time.
Man, if they could land and 2 of those kids for 2011, with Gibbs, they will be here when Mosely is a Senior, and J-Will is just a junior.
You would HAVE to think they would be a top 3 team again when you here people say Gilchrest is the 2nd coming of Kevin Durant, and Cook is like John Wall.
Am I crazy to root to grab 1 of those kids? I think everyone of them is a top 30 now, just wait another year.

What, Ryan has a new alias? His name is Barry. LOL.
I guess I would do the same thing if I had his track record.

Looks like T Ross just got screwed. LOL. Maryland caught a real break, just like with Gus Gilchrist.
His mom really did the poor kid a disservice.

Woohooo. Another foreign project for Gary. I see a skinnier less athletic version of Caner-Medley. Another guy that will be too slow to guard the 3 and too small to play the 4.
Good to see that Gary is now recruiting guys that can't start for their HS team.
Gary Williams, Loyola College's best recruiter!
