Weekend wrap — Gibbs misses out
The weekend blizzard prevented at least one Terps target from seeing Maryland's 92-71 win over North Carolina live at Comcast Center.
Seton Hall Prep junior point guard Sterling Gibbs wasn’t able to trip to Maryland for Sunday’s North Carolina game because of the snowstorm. He also had a mandatory practice Sunday.
• MaxPreps.com reports that five-star power forward C.J. Leslie might have a favorite.
C.J. Leslie, also a 6-8 combo forward, scored 16 points in a 60-57 win for Word of God (Raleigh, N.C.) in its win over Ravenscroft. Leslie drew Kentucky head coach John Calipari and the Wildcats’ are believed to be the favorite to land him. Wildcat freshman phenom John Wall was Leslie’s teammate at Word of God last season.
• Huntington (W.Va.) Prep small forward Justin Coleman, a five-star prospect and former Maryland target, has committed to Louisville.
“They showed me the most interest and have been recruiting me for a while,” Coleman told The Courier-Journal. “Coach (Rick) Pitino gets players to the league and they have some spots open at my position next year, so I can come in and play.”
• Potential Terps center target Juvonte Reddic scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in Quality Education Academy's 86-59 win over Atlantic City (N.J.).
• Terps women’s center recruit Alicia DeVaughn was dominant in Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely’s 38-32 win over Nova in a district semifinal matchup.
"We had to win this game," said Maryland signee Alicia DeVaughn, who had a game-high 20 points and 32 rebounds. "They beat us by 22. We had to play hard. I just had to stay focused and play through everything."

Matt, any insight into what recruits were actually at the game?

Matt-
What do we have to do to land a 5star? Kidnap one?

Matt-Is there any way they could make the recruiting scale go up to 8 stars? That way we could land a class of all 5 Stars and everyone could be happy.
What other countries play basketball that we can develop our recruiting lines. We have exhausted South America, Iceland, S. Korea and Croatia. Are there any players in the Baltimore/Wash area? Seems like a closer drive...
Ryan, kidnapping might be a possible recruiting violation. However Calipari may know a way around it. I think if you employ two parents you are allowed to abduct one of their children. In some states you have to throw in a free SAT score.

Hey Ryan, you want some of those 5*'s that Roy Williams has? You taking John Henson over Jordam Williams? That kid has about 5lbs on Jin Soo Kim, and not much more game

Whom it may concern.
I fell that Gary Williams is a BETTER coach than Roy Williams.
Roy is just a superior recruiter.
He has a young team, and believe me, you can miss on 5 stars.
My point is, imagine if Gary every landed say 2 in the same class, and they panned out?
We would win another title. Thats all I want. I just see it as a real struggle for Gary to get in with the blue chippers that really have MD as their top choice.
You don't want the best players?

Ryan, you are a chameleon, always changing your arguments to avoid admitting you haven't got a case or a clue,.
You were wrong about Calipari, until your recent color change.
You have consistently demeaned Williams as a coach, until the facts became so overwhelming even you couldn't make up some nonsense to repudiate the obvious.
You were wrong about this team, now competing for the ACC title.
Personally, I'm estactic with Williams and thrilled with the incoming 2010 class.
Fact is, we have one of the best coaches in all of college basketball.
That's just a fact.
And Ryan, Williams is going to win another title, with his namesake playing Center.
I already have your next argument figured out after they win that second title. We should be 30-5 every year.
Blah, blah, blah.

ryan ryan ryan ... look at the team NOW, and you will see md at its best...and i for one would no major changes...a little more consistency in the recruiting will be good....but i want the same talented, blue collar players gw gets. blue collar all the way....anyone who thinks they know how many "stars" a 17 yr old kid (or 23 +/- in the case of some colleges ...kentucky and conn come to mind) really is, is just plain blowing smoke up something.
quit your usual whinning ryan and enjoy the program
