Weekend wrap — Smith rebounds
Last weekend Maryland quarterback commitment Tyler Smith led Wilson (Pa.) Area High to a big win despite throwing five interceptions against two touchdowns.
On Saturday, Smith was back to his usual self, leading the undefeated Warriors to a 37-23 win over Bangor.
The University of Maryland-bound Smith, coming off a five-interception performance last weekend, completed 19 of 28 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns. He did not throw an interception.
• Scout.com’s Georgia Varsity Sports Vent reports that one Terps commitment visited another school this weekend.
Maryland commit and Northwest Whitefield [sic] TE/DE Nermin Delic took a visit to Kentucky and really liked it. Stay tuned here.
Basketball recruiting
• Maryland is no longer in the running for St. Anthony (N.J.) forward Devon Collier, according to Adam Zagoria.
Maryland will get visits from Collier’s St. Anthony teammate, Ashton Pankey, Oct. 16 and Long Island forward Tobias Harris sometime in November.

Good afternoon Matt, how are you? Do you think that the Terps have a real chance in getting Tobias Harris? I really hope so, I saw Tobias play at the Peach Jam this summmer and he really look good. I was working in the gym that Tobias played in, Coach Williams and his staff was at everyone of Tobias games.
Keep up the great work
P.S. Why is Dee Lies no longer on the women's team?

Rodney -- I think the Terps do have a real chance at Tobias Harris, but I wouldn't call them the favorite or anything. It will all come down to the official visits. On Dee Liles, she's reportedly off the team because of academics.

Matt,
If Harris is a no go, and we should find out soon after his visit, then how fast do we secure commitments from 2 of the 3 remaining big men Pankey, Hippo, Graham? Is there someone else out there thats greater than a 75% chance of getting. it seems that we are long shots for both Kirk and Henderson. Thanks

Mitch -- Of the three you mentioned, Pankey seems like the UM staff's top priority because he's already set an official visit. Hippo wasn't hearing much from the Terps since the last time I spoke with his coach. Ditto on Graham, but it's been longer since I got an update there. With Burney's scholarship freed up, Maryland could theoretically take both Pankey and Harris, so we'll see if it comes to that.
