Maryland women’s basketball signee Jackie Nared has left College Park and returned to Oregon.

Greg Nared, Jackie’s father and a former Maryland basketball player, said there was “a hiccup” with one of the classes she took, resulting in an issue with the NCAA Clearinghouse.

“She has to sit out the first semester and she plans on attending school in January,” Nared said. “She found out after the first week of school [at Maryland].”

Jackie Nared is back home now, “preparing to make sure she can get in in January,” her father said. She plans on rejoining the Maryland team and redshirting her freshman year, Greg Nared said.

“She’s bummed because she was there all summer, took her second session of summer school,” Nared said. “It kind of came from nowhere. But as you know, situations like this make people a lot stronger in the end. So I think she’ll be fine.”
