Quick tidbits

1.) A signed National Letter of Intent from Motlow (Tenn.) State Community College shooting guard Tyree Evans found its way to the Maryland men's basketball offices today. Click here to read the school's official news release on Evans' signing, and here to read Sun reporter Don Markus' story on Evans' commitment to the Terps.

2.) Jeff Ermann of TurtleSportsReport.com passes along this little nugget -- Gus Gilchrist's appeal to become eligible for the first semester next season instead of sitting out until the second semester was denied by the ACC schools in an 11-1 vote.

Something must be going on in College Park that has not fully come to the light yet. Has Eric Hayes made his intention to transfer known? Is Bobby Maze not going to qualify, or is he left in the cold? If another scholarship has become available why use it on another guard when a big body like Maze's JuCo teammate Ken Bowman seems high on the Terps?

Will -- Your first sentence says it all. Bowman has academic issues. Who knows on Maze -- he and those close to him, as of a day or two ago, thought/think everything is fine. Definitely a wait-and-see at this point. On Hayes, see Don Markus' latest Tracking the Terps post. Crazy times.

Although Bowman seems like a nice idea, I think his grades are worse than Maze's.

Once Gilchrist becomes available they will have 5 front court players who didn't get much playing time last year. It is time to just let them play, and Gary will have to mix and match with some 3 guard sets.

Maze and Bowman both have grade issues and will not be coming, Hayes is staying and Mosley has yet to qualify. You have to have plans B and C in fluid situations such as these. Stay tuned and hang on to the Rollercoaster ride that's MD recruiting!!
