Something that not many people know about you: “The fact that I don’t really see my father (former New York Giants running back Dave Meggett) much. ... And my name is pronounced Day-vin, not Dah-vin or Duh-vahn.”
Best football moment: “The Gwynn Park game [this season]. The score was about 13-6, we had the ball and the lead. The first play from scrimmage I go 70 yards on the ground for a touchdown. And that was kind of like the back-breaker. I felt good on that one.”
Role model: “My coach, coach [Tom] Green because the way he carries himself throughout every day is amazing. He’s hilarious and he always makes the right decisions. He’s a great guy, probably one of the best men you’ll ever meet in your life.”
Why Maryland? “Great program, some of my family already graduated from there. Close to home. It’s always great playing for the home school and I had the opportunity to do that, so I was going to take it.”

Nice hobby list. Sounds like a student of the game. Does he do anything for fun though?

hey Matt, great info. keep up the good work....
Now that we have 4 solid DT's coming in, do you think that Kabongo is going to be moved to the outside or are they going to try to get him to bulk up to keep playing the middle. Also, do you think the terps will start playing more 4-3 in a few years to use these big tackles.
Come on Kenny Tate, everyone is coming to MD now.

KGoon -- He's just a football-obsessed, hard-working kid. Definitely a great interview.
Peter -- Thanks for the kind words. A shift to the 4-3 is an interesting thought. As for Kabongo, it probably depends on how much 'good weight' he already has and what he needs to add. Either way, I think it's safe to say that he's a guy the coaches have pegged as a future starter.

I just saw that the basketball team has a commitment from JuCo Ken Bowman for next season? I thought we were out of scholarships? Is somebody leaving the team?

Jonathan,
Yup, the Terps are out of scholarships. Something's got to give if Bowman has been promised a spot.

i have a feeling that meggett is going to be successful at maryland. he may have passed under the radar by a lot of teams, but, the terps will benefit from his skills, and personality.
