Best football moment: “I’ll have to say when I caught an 80-yard post to win the game for my team and we came back from about 21 points and ended up winning the game [against Gonzaga this year].”
Role model: “Sean Taylor because of the excitement he brought to the game and he was just a positive role model on and off the field. He’d go 100 percent, full-speed every play.”
Why Maryland? “Because I visited a couple schools and they had the same stuff out there that they did at Maryland. I was comfortable with the coaches at Maryland and I liked the school. There’s no point in going away when you have everything right at home.”

Matt Bracken was a lightly recruited football and tennis prospect out of East Lansing (Mich.) High School in 2001, but spurned all (nonexistent) scholarship offers to attend the University of Michigan. Matt graduated from UM in 2005, earned a master's degree in new media journalism from Northwestern University in 2006, and spent the first 11 months of his career as an online producer / videographer / blogger at the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson. He has worked at The Baltimore Sun since July 2007, where he currently serves as an assistant sports editor / producer / recruiting writer.
