Quick Jennings, Thomas links
• So much for Maryland still leading.
In the wake of Terrence Jennings reopening his recruitment two weeks ago, he told a couple different recruiting sites that Maryland was still his leader.
According to Jody Demling of The Courier-Journal, however, Jennings has a new top five, and the Terps are noticeably absent from it.
• New Jersey power forward Quintrell Thomas visited Lawrence, Kan. this past weekend to check out what the Jayhawks had to offer.
According to Adam Zagoria of the Herald News in West Paterson, N.J., Thomas' expectations of "a school in the middle of a farm" were proven false.
Thomas has a final four of Maryland, Kansas, Rutgers and UNLV.

I am starting to think that terrence is a head case and maybe we should move on without him. He is changing high schools again, and his decision making skills seem a little under-developed. Obviously a good talent, but this could be an issue during his college career too.

Well what do you expect? If a recruit pulls their commitment they very rarely go back to the original school. Either somebody got to Jennings form another school, or he realized he could make schools fight over him. Either way it's out of Maryland's hands. While he would have been great to have, he's only going to be one and done wherever he goes anyway. Let's concentrate on locking up Thomas, who is no consolation prize, and then focus on the class of 2009.

If Jennings no longer has UM on his top 5 list, then whats the purpose of him attending Maryland Madness? Last I had heard he was planning on attending. Pretty sad this kids top 5 list is thought of as "thats as of today". It all reflect the gross amount of puckering up that is done for these kids from grade school on...we've created the monster ourselves.

Enough about Jennings already. The guy is not coming to Maryland and he has proven he is simply not worth the pursuit. Let those other schools fawn over him. As for his current 5 "favorites," only Virginia (assuming it applies the same academic requirements to its athletes as its student body), has any scholastic integrity. Besides, the guy appears destined to remain in school for only long enough--one year--to qualify for the NBA draft.
I'd be more concerned with Thomas' recruitment, particularly with his AAU coach accompanying him on his KU campus visit. Does anyone else find that a bit ironic? Or that his parents did not apparently attend the trip with him and, if they did, that no one spoke to them about their son's upcoming decision? Despite his politically correct coach-speak, we do not really know what this coach may be whispering into Thomas' ear. As is already well known, Gary does not play kiss-a** with these guys which has cost Maryland more than a few top recruits over the past 5 years.

Gary Williams is a horrible recruiter. He somehow manages to lose the likes of Donte Green, Austin Freeman, Malcom Delany, etc. to out of state schools... Why can the Terps not get the best in-state talent? They did win a National Championship 5 years ago right? And they do compete in the ACC every year. So what's the deal?!!?!?

I am happy Jennings is gone. Gary has built winners by finding high quality, smart kids that want to play for Maryland (Blake, Dixon) . There were a few years in there where he got away from that and chased the shiny object ( a la Gilchrist) I like the make up of the team now and feel as if he is moving the right direction by recruting guys like Mosley.

One question: Has anyone met Terence Jennings personally? Or, have assumptions been made based solely on hearsay and reports of "disgruntled others" who were unsuccessful in manipulating him? Just curious! It's probably a good thing Maryland didn't get him. What would the fans think of him if he made a mistake?
