Terps led -- for a moment
With Maryland trailing 14-13, receiver Adrian Cannon caught a swing pass, slipped a tackler and raced into the end zone for a 20-yard score on the opening possession of the fourth quarter. A two-point conversion pass failed, so Maryland led 19-14.
Offensive lineman R.J. Dill cupped his hand to the ear hole of his helmet as if it to say to the Florida State crowd, “Where’s the noise now?”
But, just like that, the noise returned. The Seminoles regained the lead on their next possession when receiver Bert Reed raced 42 yards on an end around. A two-point conversion pass to Taiwan Easterling put Florida State ahead 22-19.
Florida State 22, Maryland 19 fourth quarter

In general going for 2 pts is a losing proposition. Unless it is late in the 4th you are better off going for 1. Too many coaches go for it and just end up giving up a sure 1 pt.

Friedgen and his staff gave this game away. Get a turnover with a 26-22 lead, near midfield, FSU expecting run, and, instead of a first down pass, they run into the stacked line. Same on second down. On third and 10, they try to run the QB, who goes nowhere. Have to punt.
The punt coverage is pathetic, and the return is inside MD territory. No pressure is put on the QB, so he can run at will, and does. Four plays, touchdown.
Pathetic.

A great effort by the Maryland kids is wasted by the lack of proper decision making by the coaching staff. After the last interception, the offense again lacked any imagination and Md. was forced to give the ball back on a three and out. Then, with all of the speed of the FSU punt returners, we do not kick the ball out of bounds inside the twenty to prevent the long return. When that happens we rush 3 people and drop the linebackers in coverages and give up 10-15 yard pass plays for the remainder of the game. Again, Ralph and his crew coaching not to lose instead of letting his players try to make some plays. Of course, I am sure to RF, it will be bad luck again. Too bad the kids have to deal with the lack of talent on this present coaching staff.
