More from Friedgen on the future
Here's more from Friedgen on what he told his players:
"I told them that I expected to be back and that if I'm not, that I wanted to tell them how much I love them and appreciate them."
"Because sometimes when things happen you don’t get that opportunity.
But that’s all I said to them. But I do expect to be back."

If anything, Yow should pay Franklin the $1M to leave. If he's available in 2012 and wants the job, hire him then. If not, get a bettter candidate. He's done a horrible job of play calling this year (i.e. today's game on all short yardage plays trying to run up the middle when BC DOMINATED the line of scrimmage, and taking the ball our of Robinson's hands forcing him to throw and not run). The faults of the season will get put on the fridge but he should be back for at least 1 more season

I agree that Franklin must be the one to go. Third and less than a yard. You have nobody in the backfield and try to throw the ball to the sideline? Then on third and 18 you have two players in the backfield. Seems like he got this backwards. Just bad.

Jeff, when i start hearing fans start say that ralph needs to go out on his own terms i start to have a need to start throwing up. Granted Joe paterino, and Bobby bowden have had down years recently and there have been many negative things written saying that they are to old and that it's time for them to retire. While that might be true they are the only 2 coaches in this game today that deserve to go out on there own terms because of what they have done for there schools over many many years. Ralph doesn't even belong in that same converstaion jeff and i want to know why Md fans could even beging to think that way. Ralph is a very nice family man , and nobody really likes it when they get fired but please ralph doesn't deserve to be put on a pedastal for what he has done at Md. I just don't understand where all this loyalty come from considering he is nothing but a medicore coach at best. This program has hit rock bottom and he needs to go the sooner the better regardless of the economy.

I agree that Fridge isn't the real problem. The University would have to pay him $4m, as opposed to giving James Franklin the $1m. I say cut your losses, and find a new O-Coordinator. I'd really like to know who was making the calls on the 4th and short yardage plays yesterday, though. If it's Franklin, I don't want him coaching my Terps. We season ticket holders pay enough to watch crappy football. I don't want to continue to pay the school to watch JF run the program into the ground.

Keep the Fridge. He deserves to continue at Maryland. Get rid of Franklin. He does not walk on Football Water. His calls his year were awful and he does not deserve to follow the Fridge when he retires. We would not support a Franklin head coached team

an additional thought to my earlier post..
I may keep my season tickets. But, if Franklin is in the picture probably not. I have not been a big RF supporter. But, I really think the problem is above his pay grade. But canning the woman will not be an option.

Keep Fridge and Gary and get rid of Yow.

If Ralph wants to stay lets rewrite the contract to reflect his performance. Pay $2 million for winning 12 games next season. Thats about $166,667. per win.

With the offensive line we had this year it would not mattered who you had in the skill positions; it would have been a struggle. Young, inexperienced and then key injuries; a receipe for what we saw all year. Coach Franklin is NOT the problem but his recruiting skills are going to be part of the solution. I think we should sit tight on the whole coaching issue and watch the turnaround that is coming next year. Both lines will be much better and so to will the results; 8+ wins very possbile.
