It starts this week for Williams and Terps

Maryland, which has been practicing since "Maryland Madness," gets to play a real team this week. The Terps play Indiana University of Pennsylvania in an exhibition game on Tuesday night.

I'll be posting updates and assessments on how the team looks -- particularly the newbies (freshmen power forwards Jordan Williams and James Padgett).

Coach Gary Williams has been regaining his strength from surgery to repair a disc problem that had existed for some time but had grown increasingly painful -- literally a pain in the neck.

He's been wearing a neck brace off and on during his recuperation -- including, I'm told, at today's Ravens-Broncos game where he's watching the football and supporting his good buddy, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti.

Gary out watching FOOTBALL instead of recruiting. sounds like all the sweet basement posters were wrong? fredterp

game televised?

Jeff - correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a "dead" period for recruiting. Gary would be in violation of NCAA rules if he was recruiting right now. He and the university can host recruits who are at the university on an official visit, but Gary cannot be on the road viewing recruits.
fredterp - you may want to do a little research about "dead" periods in recruiting before lashing out again.

Dead period or not, Gary can take time off on a Sunday to go to a football game. Speak up if you have something intelligent to say. Gary will lead his recruits back to the top half of the ACC, into the national rankings, and into the NCAA Tourney -- even if he takes a half day off every now and then.
