Gary Williams and Tiger Woods
Any basketball player can miss, say, nine shots in a row. What sets the good ones apart is that they don't unravel. They compose themselves and find the confidence and focus and fortitude to convert the 10th if the situation demands it.

That ability -- to regain one's footing, to stay in the moment -- is the essence of one of the questions Gary Williams was asking Tiger Woods the other day.
Williams and Chick Hernandez had the opportunity to question Woods on Comcast SportsNet at the AT&T National.
Said Williams: "In basketball, you have to move on to the next play. You can yell at a referee -- every once in awhile I'll do that. But the next play is happening while you do that."
Woods said he'll look at the scenery, gauge the wind and begin assessing the next shot. The key is not to get stuck reliving a difficult moment.
Williams said he heard that Woods' father told his son he had 12 steps to forget a botched shot.
Said Woods: "It was his way of saying, 'Get over it.'"

Hey Jeff,
Do you anything about the possible transfer from Kentucky coming to UMCP? I believe his name is Matt Pilgram.

Pilgram will likely receive an NCAA waiver (scholarship force-out at Lexington) and would thus would be available immediately with two years of eligibility. Out of Cincinnati, where he was not highly recruited due to work ethic (lack thereof) and fact he would disappear mentally and physically for long stretches on game day (hence why he landed at Hampton). Has all the physical tools and would gtive the incoming low-post freshman some breathing space to mature. Question is-- do you rob the 2010 scholarship pool and/or "hope" someone else disappears to free up anotther scholarship? Attitude the key with this kid. Gary would do wonders for him.

He is an NCAA Basketball coach who won the 2002 National Title. There are 65 teams involved and it happens every March. Its known in the U.S. as March Madness. To win that season ending tournament is truly and outstanding accomplishment. You should check it out if you haven't as it is an exciting event.

Jeff- Why is it that MD football does not have a TV deal ever? At best, only 6 or 7 of their games are on TV. Doesn't Masn or FSN think they are a big enough market?
Heck, even midwest teams have local TV deals.
