Having attended every spring game for the last 10 years, I must say that I was very impressed with the focus and intensity. The most exciting thing though is the athleticism overall on both sides of the ball. The recruiting classes from the last 2 years looks outstanding and ready to step in and only Drakeford and Murray from this years class is on campus. Skill positions other than cornerback (and hopefully Hawkins can at least make the roster and contribute as a true freshman) look deep. If both lines can hold up, this could be a really good team with a very solid future.

Wow, with Robinson's numbers, does he have a shot at starting this fall??

csquare,

Robinson looked really good at the game, but no way in hell is he going to start (barring Turner getting injured -- knock on wood). First, Robinson was competing against the second-string defense.

Second, Turner has game experience and Robinson doesn't -- doing about the same at practice (when even Fridge admits Turner is a better game-day player than his practice indicates) isn't going to be a strong enough argument to have him jump up the depth chart.

Third, Friedgen is fiercely loyal to his players; I would have a seriously hard time seeing him justify putting Robinson ahead of Turner after he was edged by Steffy last season and convinced to not transfer (surely with the promise that he was the man for 2009). What kind of message would that send to future recruits?

Hey,
Has anyone heard from Jeff? Hope he's still around after the Sports dismissals at the Sun I've heard about on the radio....Jeff are you still out there, buddy?
---------FROM JEFF-----
Thanks for that. I'm still around. Tough and tumultuous times, obviously. Some terrific people who were my colleagues are unemployed, and I wish them nothing but good luck and urge them to keep faith in themselves and their abilities.

Jeff,
Glad you're still here and sorry about your colleagues...I wish them the best also.
----FROM JEFF---
I very much appreciate that sentiment.
