The blue field

Sure, the state capital dome is nice, and the snow-covered mountains are picturesque.

But if you're a sports fan, you want to take a pilgrimage -- as I did yesterday -- to what they call "the blue."

Bronco Stadium’s famed blue field (it’s the same color as Boise State’s uniforms) is even brighter and bluer -- a deeper blue -- when you see it live.

It seems fans love to have their photos taken next to that turf. Spectators also love -– perhaps too much -- to climb aboard the bronco statue in front of the stadium. “Keep off horse,” a nearby sign says.

Nevada has an interesting offense, but it would have been fun for the Terps to have had the challenge of playing Boise State in its own backyard.

Jeff,
Any word on the Yeatman transfer from Notre Dame? Can Ralph comment on this? Will Raplh allow him to play lacrosse also (I would assume this issue has already been discussed and approved)?

Report: Yeatman is Maryland-bound 11:22 p.m.
It's semi-official, anyway: Will Yeatman reportedly will transfer to Maryland to play both football and lacrosse.
Yeatman, the Notre Dame tight end and lacrosse player who missed all or most of 2008 in both sports due to suspensions, requested a release from his scholarship in mid-December, Irish lacrosse coach Kevin Corrigan confirmed at the time.Yeatman also sought the one-time waiver available in NCAA lacrosse that enables a player to compete immediately instead of sitting out a season -- which may be why he will enroll at Maryland, because the Terrapins do not appear on Notre Dame's 2009 lacrosse schedule. Yeatman had two alcohol-related run-ins this year that respectively cost him all of the 2008 lacrosse season and a large chunk of the Irish football season this fall. The first, an operating while intoxicated charge in January, resulted in a spring semester suspension from both the football and lacrosse teams. Then in mid-October, Yeatman was suspended from all football activity for the remainder of the season by the school's Office of Residence Life due to a Sept. 21 arrest at an off-campus party. Yeatman, already held out of action until his legal matters were resolved, missed the final nine games of the season.

What happened to the original online comments sections after each story in the sports section?

As for the Terps; yeah I would have loved to see them play Boise State. Would have made for a great prime time game instead of today's 4:30 game time - while I'm at work, not able to listen nor watch the game.

Anyways, GO TERPS. Don't be distracted by the Blue Field. Send the Wolfpack back to Reno as losers.
