The ACC bowl game tie-ins

Back by popular demand is a list of bowl games picking ACC teams. Interesting to see where the Terps end up if they're not Miami-bound. I wonder what bowl games you Terps fans would most prefer if they're not in the Orange Bowl.

The Orange Bowl, as you probably know, gets the ACC champ.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl gets its pick of the rest. Then comes the Gator, followed by Champs Sports.

After that, the Music City, Meineke and Emerald bowls make bids for the ACC teams they want. Music City and Meineke are at the top of the pecking order.

Then comes the Humanitarian Bowl and the brand-new EagleBank Bowl in Washington D.C.

Going to one of the top three bowls (Orange, Chick-fil-A, and Gator) would be great; we'd play a formidable opponent in a warm location and get some national recognition.

However, if things go terribly wrong these final few weeks (i.e. men's basketball, 2005), then the Congressional Bowl would at least allow local fans to attend one more tailgate/home game.

Actually, the Congressional Bowl is called the EagleBank Bowl. Organizers decided that naming the bowl the "Congressional Bowl" sounded too much like a local bank named Congressional bank which did not have any relation to the bowl. Plus EagleBank paid a boat load of money as the sponsor.

You are correct, sir. I will change it to reflect the new name, and thanks.

This year's team is good enough to attend the Orange Bowl, they just did'nt know it.It won't be easy and barring any major injuries or player conduct issues(Costa) the Chick bowl will still have some good picks of some ACC teams that are coming together lately(Ga. Tech).

We will never play in the EagleBank Bowl. Theres nothing attractive about the location, opposing team (no offense Navy but we'll play you during the regular season at Ravens Stadium in the fall when its a much more attractive and profitable situation for both teams) or the date and time (Sat Dec 20th @ 11am). I loved RFK 'back in the day' - it was a great football venue, but today its a rundown dump and I'm sure the money necessary to give it the good cleaning it needs to be presentable wont be spent. It would be a disaster if we had ended up 6-6 and been relagated to that bowl. We need at least eight to avoid Boise and SF which are both difficult bowl locations to get fans to travel to for a 'less than' bowl.

With Clemson winning, the Terps have to beat BC to avoid being sent to San Fran or Boise. VT, FSU, Clemson, Ga Tech will all get slotted ahead of the Terps. If BC gets the BCS bid, that means that the Meineke Bowl would possibly be picking between UNC, NC State, Wake and Maryland, and I doubt they would get the nod to go to Charlotte.

You're right except I don't think Terps will go back to San Fran. Emerald Bowl will want someone new.
