Terps can't run

As almost everyone predicted, the Terps can’t run against Boston College’s defense and have taken to the air.

It worked in the first quarter. Maryland made it 7-7 after quarterback Chris Turner hit Torrey Smith on a deep sideline route for 43 yards to the 1, then ran it in on the next play.

It was the first career rushing touchdown for Turner, who likes to jokingly boast that he runs a "flat 5.0" in the 40.

But Turner was intercepted by Mark Herzlich at the Maryland 45 in the second quarter -- the quarterback’s third interception in the last two games.

On the next play, Boston College's Dominique Davis hit a wide-open Rich Gunnell in the end zone for a 45-yard touchdown to make it 14-7. I’ll have to ask the coaches how the receiver got so free.

Maryland has eight rushing yards and 140 passing yards at halftime.

Hey Jeff,

What did you think of the officials call on the punt-fumble-recovery by Maryland? This eventually led to the Flutie fake FG try for touchdown. I have watched the replay several times, and still can't figure out what the official 'saw.' The fall first hit a BC player in the foot on its way down. I am not saying this cost MD the game, but it really changed everything. '

That was one of those plays where the folks in the press box all seemed to see it differently. I love being in the box because I'm not captive to just the TV view and angles. But on that play you probably saw it better on TV than I did live.

What a grand final game. As a season ticket holder I am disgusted. No offensive line, no defense, hey where is this team?

I like Fridgen but this coaching staff failed.

I watched the GT/GA game and what a difference at GT.

Norman

Very simple
Send Turner surfing, send def coordinator to Div. 3. Send Franklin to any pro team that will take him, and send " The Fridge" to get a tummy stapel be fore he explodes. Been a Terp since 1954. A school ths big has to settle for these QBs

Jim,

Couldn't agree with you any stronger, Terp since 76, started sneaking into Byrd and Cole since the 71-72 seasons...

Old School !
