I covered Joe Namath, long after Joe Willie's prediction about his Jets beating the Colts.
I was at Augusta National to hear Arnold Palmer predict that Tiger Woods would collect more green jackets than Nicklaus and Palmer combined.
And I was in College Park today to hear Greivis Vasquez use the term "Final Four" and the name "Maryland" in the same sentence.
It wasn't done with bravado, just sort of matter of fact.
"People keep talking bad about us, but the last two days I've seen something I've never seen at Maryland, including my freshman year when we went to the tournament," Vasquez said. "The last two days, I thought we could be a Final Four team."
If Maryland makes it to Motown, you read it hear first.

How does Greivis have any idea what it takes to be in the final four? Unfortunately he has not sniffed that level of the tournament. Given the recent success of the team (missing 3 out of 4 NCAA tournaments) we should concentrate on making the tournament and maybe making the sweet sixteen before we talk about the final four.

I wish for things like ZR1's and Lambos for my birthday. I wish for an island tropical paradise for vacationing during the winter. I wish Grievas would sit out the season or on the bench. I wish Mosley well and the chance to get off to a super start. I wish GW would alas leave but none of this will come true either. I look forward to next season when two guys from outta state make to CP. Imagine a Brooklyn born and bread playing here. I see Freidgen going outta state too. Hats off to the recruiting for getting out of the beltway. But not this yr. Vaz. Maybe when you're gone. Notice the turn overs by the big mouther. He should be in the press box or giving commercials at the stadium not on the court. Hayes should not be handling the ball unless he improved 200%. Get Moses in.

Apparently there is a communication issue here. I think the Sun reporter may have taken the quote out of context, "Final Four" in this case doesn't mean the party at the end of the dance but it actually means the final four at the bottom of the ACC.

LOL...Vasquez is an idiot! Maryland has NO shot at the Final Four. They will be lucky to make the tournament. They have no bigs worth a crap!
