Vasquez has successful ankle surgery
Maryland guard Greivis Vasquez had successful surgery on his left ankle today to remove a bone spur and articular cartilage, according to a Maryland news release.
Vasquez is expected to make a full recovery. He will be evaluated Monday and is expected to return to normal offseason activities in two months.
Vasquez averaged a team-high 17.0 points per game and Atlantic Coast Conference-high 6.8 assists per game as a sophomore last season.

Articular cartilage is not something that you really want "removed" from your ankle. Maybe it will slow GV down enough that he has to play the 3.

Hopefully it will slow him down enough so he doesn't play at all. This clown should be riding the pine. Maryland is gonna suck again this year. Mosley won't make the grades, and Kim Joon whatever will probably have to wait till next year.
Nice 0 man recruiting class, Gary.

Steve O,
I see that you as cheerful as ever. If you are so upset with things at MD, why don't you pick another team to root for?

Real nice post, Steve O. Wishing for a serious injury to any athelete shows real class.

Steve, you're a clown. The problem is not Gary. The problem is Debbie Yow. When Gary steps down and Yow picks her own coach, all these "shady" players will miraculously get into MD.

Maryland isn't my team. I just happen to live in Baltimore and am surrounded by Maryland fans who think Gary has no fault in this situation, and people who think Vasquez is good. He's a bum. LOL. Maryland's gonna be at the bottom of the ACC this year!!!!

Steve O - GV is Maryland's best player at times and its worse player at times. He does need to be more of a team player and better shot selection to improve. He will be playing in the NBA.
The recruiting woes are Gary's fault. He is old school and Maryland doesn't have the great reputation as competing schools to have that luxury. Debbie Yow has nothing to do with Gary's recruiting problems.

M

Vasquez is a good player. He just needs to learn to channel his emotions more into raising the level of his game, He also needs to learn to slow it down when necessary.
To say he is not a good player demonstrates , in my opinion ,a lack of understanding about basketball. He has good size and is a scorer. Maybe he isn't the first choice to run the offense, but if teamed with a better ballhandler, he can be extremely effective since he does have some ball handling skills.

Vasquez CAN be a good player, but how GOOD is a player that leads his team in Turnovers?
"on the edge" and "out of control" are very close... and many times GV sways over to "out of control", and then starts turning the ball over... MOST of the time, into opposition points.
I wish him the best in his recovery, but an out-of-control PG that leads our team in Turnovers cannot be a good thing, and hopefully MAYBE Eric Hayes can work his way back into the point, and then GV can play on the wing as wild as he wants to be.
