Belated blog

Sorry for the shortage of blog entries yesterday, I was working on a story for the print edition. By the number of Josh Portis comments I've received regarding yesterday's entry about Brenda Frese, I'm going to guess it's still a hot topic.

Look, as Ralph Friedgen likes to say, "it is what it is."

Maryland is not going to play scared. Jordan Steffy wants to run, and that's what the Terps are going to do. There was little news that came out of Ralph's press conference yesterday. Reporters were still asking about how Ralph is going to handle the loss of Portis. He said Chris Turner's workload is going to double at practice. Before, Turner was splitting the reps with Portis. Now they're all his.

Portis was at practice yesterday, but eventually he separated from Steffy, Turner and Jamarr Robinson, and joined the scout team. I spoke with Turner after practice yesterday and he is ready to accept his new role. Ralph took the blame for Turner's second interception against Villanova in the season opener. Turner said he expects to get some playing time this weekend at FIU, depending on the score.

So it's probably safe to say he should get some playing time.

Comments

Hi Heather, I was thinking this morning about your blog posting where Steffy pointed out that in the past the first and second string quarterbacks had roomed together, and this year he and Turner were roommates. In retrospect, do you think Steffy knew Portis probably wouldn't be around?
