Late Night with R.J. Dill?

Rumor has it that Trinity (Camp Hill, Pa.) offensive tackle R.J. Dill will announce tonight he'd like to be a Terp.

And I mean tonight.

A reporter friend in PA tells me his announcement is coming at 9 p.m.

If Rivals.com had ranked him higher than three stars, I would stop watching Law & Order to check. Since his other offers came from Duke, Temple, UConn and Akron, this one is gonna have to wait until the a.m.

Not to take anything away from the kid. He's listed as the No. 61 offensive tackle in the country. Whatever that means. Look, anyone familiar with my philosophy on recruiting knows I'll give the kid his due when he proves himself for Maryland -- which does need some linemen.

Until then, it's doink doink.

If only you were the 61st best reporter in the state, I would actually care about your opinion.

And if only you were the last person who had nothing better to do than let me know. Take a number, Bill. You can start at 61.

so i guess you will have your mouth open this season when two star laquan is tearing up the field, oh and nice new pic by the way, i give it 1 star.

Actually, MDPROUD, like I said before, the recruits get their ink when they earn it at Maryland. If LaQuan Williams beats out Heyward-Bey at the Z, or Danny Oquendo or Isaiah Williams, then it reinforces my point - those rankings and stars don't mean anything - and neither does yours.

Glad to see you learned your lesson from touting all those kids that signed at PSU before they accomplished anything. As far as what the #61 tackle means - it means he has the potential to be a lot better than Antonio Logan-El ever was.

OMG BAN PRESS CONFERENCES!

Heather's quite right on this one. I'm not going to sit with bated breath while a decent O-lineman announces. That's ridiculous.

It's nice to Heather has moved on in her career to include attacking high school players.

Hey heather, I saw some pee wee league kids playing at this park in Olney, I bet you could really tear into some grade school kids!!!

JERRYTERP - Yeah, and I bet you could rank them for me.

hey heather, what's the latest with logan el? i know you were infatuated with him coming out of high school, just wanted to see how that worked out. is he training up at penn state likely to be a menace in the NFL soon? or will he be flipping burgers and asking would you like fries with that?

Heather - why don't you stick to reporting your opinions and quit the 'snappy' comebacks. You aren't as clever as you think you are.

way to be the consummate professional Heather, with your pithy retorts to bloggers. wow, you really impress me. guess thats why you are just in balltimore working for the sun.

I don't know what is more absurd...the fact that there are so many rude posters who think its funny to rip into dinich, or that dinich actually allows these people to goad her into childish responses. Very odd.

Patty: rude would be Heather dissing a hard working high school kid (see start of thread) on not only one of the most important events in his life so far, but his birthday to boot. That my friend is rude. Those who like to work in the kitchen better be ready to take some heat. To Heather's credit, at least she lets the comments hit the blog. But she quickly disappoints by responding.

Jersey Twerp,

First of all, I'm a MD fan like you. Second of all, Heather is just writing what she feels. You're taking it way too personal, and you may need some psychiatric evaluation.

But what gets me is that you're busting on the Terps' hometown paper, which happens to be a well-regarded news publication. And you should speak while living/being from NJ? Last time I checked, the Baltimore Sun had a lot more national/political clout than the pitiful Star-Ledger.

Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot of these posters busting on Heather D act like a bunch of pre-pubescent teens from middle school trying to get some girls attention?

It's quite simple. If you don't like her posts, don't read them.

HEY JERSEY -- At least I put my name behind my words.

Gene: I would never bust on Baltimore and the great state of Maryland, I was born and raised in Carroll County, spent the first few years of my career in Baltimore and miss it A LOT. Maryland is a great place. My comment was a reminder to Heather that there is no room for her inherent attitude given that she is not working for SI or ESPN or a major media market like NYC or Chicago. Sorry to "bust" on a state that I love. I will refrain from commenting on The Sun as a paper though. And I dont ever read the Star Ledger so I cant comment there either. I think your related comments and on my need for psychiatric evaluation were pretty juvenile. (BTW- when it comes to my passion for the Terps you are darn right I probably need evaluation - Fridge is a great HUMAN BEING and reagrdless of W's and L's, deserves respect just for the type of person he is. so we are a pretty passionate group.)

Heather, your last reply was probably the saddest of all. Of course you put your name behind what you write YOU HAVE TO SO YOU CAN COLLECT A PAYCHECK! Dont dignify a lot of the garbage above with a response, let alone one where you take shots back. For the good of your long term career.

Next time I see you in or around Byrd I will introduce myself - good luck to you.

I'm looking for ewing@bu
