Hanover Street bridge to open

The Hanover Street drawbridge will be opened at about 1 p.m. for about 30 minutes, according to the Baltimore Department of Transportation. Delays are expected. Motorists may want to use Maryland 295 and Waterview Avenue as an alternative.

Any bets on if it gets stuck in the open position and broken? 2:1 odds it won't be open in time for rush hour. Who's in? :)

any reason why? is it just to open it and make sure it still works? or is something big moving through?

Tub Boat crew member friend of mine said it got stuck for about 20 minutes. I was wondering why it took over an hour for the bridge to go up and then back down. I was watching it on trafficland.com. I'm happy it was down for my drive home :)

Will that bridge ever be properly repaired? We have welded patches on top of welded patches. They make no effort to taper the edges and one of the southbound repairs on the surface of the deck is very high.

You can just hear the tires holler "Ouch" as they run into the steel plate. A fine example of how not to fix a bridge deck.
