Where are worst potholes? Nominations are open

Maryland's worst pot holesAfter several years during which the state has withheld the local jurisdictions' share of highway revenues, Maryland's local roads are sprouting a bumper crop of potholes. As we come to the end of winter, there must be some real craters out there.

We're asking Getting There readers to help us locate some of the biggest, deepest and most treacherously placed potholes in the state. Please nominate the most impressive potholes you have come across, with precise locations and photos if available. Lurid descriptions and tall tales encouraged.

Broening highway at Point Breeze. The grand canyon of pot holes.

There's been a loose manhole cover on Baltimore St. right next to the arena for about three weeks. I ran over it when it was swinging and I thought it was a giant pothole. I'm pretty surprised nobody has fixed it yet.

There are two sunken manhole covers on Commerce St, between Pratt and Lombard, that have to be 6 inches deep.

Fayette Street between from Broadway to Chester is a mess

Harford Road from North Avenue (maybe a bit further north than that) to Walther is a pretty big mess, but I'm guessing that's because they are working on it. But it seems they have been making it worse before making it better. I'm hoping they aren't waiting until they replace the Herring Run bridge before they finish fixing the road.

harford road from lake montebello south to north ave

Clysdale Ave. at Medfield Ave.

Northbound entrance to the JFX @ North Avenue has a nasty one that will knock your car out of alignment. Though not technically a "pothole" I would also nominate the Southbound Light Street entrance to Federal Hill. I routinely veer into the Northbound lane (traffic permitting) to avoid it. Also anywhere on Key Highway in front of Federal Hill Park.

West Patapsco Avenue near Washington Blvd is pretty bad.
