I was on the 428 (4:15 WAS dep) that died just south of New Carrollton.
On the downside, the A/C wasn't working well to begin with, so the train quickly went from uncomfortable to sweltering.
On the upside, there was communication, there was water (debate is how much was actually available - I heard only a couple cases), and a back-up engine that got us moving again about 20-25 minutes later.
MTA emails were a little slow to start, but also noticed Facebook and Twitter updates coming regularly during my trip.
Some passengers would not obey conductors' requests to clear the vestibules so they could open outer doors, and also get to the water. Shame on them!

I was aboard the 415WAS departure too. Crew was excellent and provided information but there was very little water; as a regular commuter I know to bring my own but there were quite a few tourists without. Maybe MARC could post something in Union Station recommending that passengers bring water on case of emergency?
