Greenspring Valley Road to be resurfaced
The State Highway Administration will begin resurfacing work on Greenspring Valley Road Wednesday, requiring daytime lane closures over the next several months.
The $2 million resurfacing project will extend along Route 130 in Baltimore County for 5 1/2 miles from Reisterstown Road to Falls Road. Lane closures will be permitted between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday-Friday until the work is completed. Flag crews will control traffic in the consttruction zone as workers mill and patch Greenspring Valley and apply the new surface.
According to the SHA, the project is being financed with federal stimulus dollars. Work is expected to be completed in early July.

Just remember: "Federal Stimulus Dollars" == massive debt increase plus future higher taxes.
It is shocking how every jurisdiction BUT Baltimore City seems to be able to engage in resurfacing projects. With the exception of Lombard, there isn't a whole lot of work going on on city roads.

The reader's perception of a lack of stimulus spending on Baltimore city roads is incorrect. There have been $35.1 million in city highway projects awarded. A list of city highway projects. along with transit projects benefiting Baltimore, can be found on this web site: http://bit.ly/bzbimF

It seems this work is being done under the Baltimore County East maintenance contract. Prices bid for maintenance contracts reflect doing small quantities scattered over a designated area. The SHA is using these high unit prices for a job that runs for 11 lane miles. Why didn't they put this project out for bid on its own and receive lower prices that reflect continuous work? Can anyone spell corruption? I would love for Mr. Dresser to call the SHA and see what kind of lies they use to justify this huge waste of money. My money! Your money!
