MTA trip planner is up and running
The Maryland Transit Administration got some grief on this blog last week for the dysfuctional state of the trip planner on its web site -- and the fact the agency wasn't telling its customers the service was out of order.
But now the planner is back on line and dispensing useful information about which buses and rail lines will get you where. The MTA is to be commended for its timely recovery.

Comments
I'm not sure which is the horse and which is the cart, but transit directions on Google Maps became unavailable when the MTA's trip planner did...and consequently, it's back in operation again.

Unrelated to this post but concerns the Charm City Circulator.
I have stood at the 217 stop (Northwest corner of Greene & Lombard Sts in front of UMMC) five times for buses and I've been passed by four times (and decided to walk rather than wait to be passed up again) and picked up only once.
The first time there was no CCC sign, but it was posted on the website (about two weeks ago), the last four times the sign was up.
What frustrates me the most is that Greene St is four lanes wide and the buses that have passed me have been one over from the left lane, so even when I've waived to get their attention they couldn't get over if they wanted at that point.
The CCC needs to tell its drivers to either be in position for that stop, or if its simply too hard due to having to turn left in another block, then move the stop (I recommend to the southeast corner of Pratt & Greene Sts at the 7/35 MTA Stop in front of Potbellys) or get rid of the stop.
Its frustrating that today I checked NextBus, saw the bus was coming in two minutes and figured it was faster to wait than to walk. So, I waited three minutes for the bus to arrive and another minute to see if he would be able to get over, then when he didn't I started walking and just missed my light rail train (one I would have easily caught had he either picked me up or had I walked immediately). Then I stood there for 30 minutes waiting for the next Cromwell train.

RESPONSE TO RICHARD, RE: CHARM CITY CIRCULATOR:
Sir, we're very sorry for the inconvenience. We've just installed a "queue jumper" on Greene to help buses make this switchover a lot easier. we're still working out the timing, but thats no excuse. Give us a few more days and we hope to have it worked out so that stop 217 works as intended. Thanks for riding

Not quite sure if there is your beat or not but... Have you looked at Penn Station lately? The stairs to the platform are in terrible shape with concrete broken and chipped. They keep patching them it is a temporary fix at best. So, every morning and afternoon (daily MARC rider) I see people nearly lose their balance on the overcrowded and dangerous stairs.
And the bathrooms! The women's room has three stalls, one of which is nearly always broken. Hot water, sometimes. The attendants clean it but it always appears dirty, with cracked tile and broken sinks.
It is a train station and I'm not asking for a wonderful bathroom. But functional stairs that don't crumble beneath your feet and another working toilet or two would be nice.
