#iPadBmore -- a Baltimore meet-up for iPad geeks

ipad-cake.jpgLast night, Baltimore geeks meet up at the Emerging Technology Center in Canton to talk all things iPad.

There was pizza and booze, and even an iPad cake (left), for crying out loud! The event was the brainchild of Mario Armstrong, nationally-known tech commentator.

More than 50 people showed up, their iPads in hand. There were a bunch of speakers (I was one), and lots of free stuff given out, i.e. t-shirts, knickknacks and ... oh, free subscriptions to Wired magazine.

Below are images I culled from the Twitter feed from the event, under the hashtag #iPadBmore.

I talked about two of the things I'm excited about the iPad: 1) the way it shows off HTML 5-based websites, and 2) it's huge potential for educational uses for small children.

Other speakers gave talks about the device, including how it can be used by the blind and how it can be modified for use in your car.

Was there any discussion about the Citrix Receiver with the iPad? It works great. If anyone wants to play I am giving away trials to our Citrix Remote Desktop, http://bit.ly/aPT4XF It is really sweet!
