Google Fiber: Baltimore's feelin' lucky

bmorefiber_logo.png

Baltimore is one of more than 1,100 communities across the U.S. vying to win a pilot project called Google Fiber for Communities. Google wants to install ultra-high-speed broadband in a lucky community to use as a proving ground for new Internet technologies.

Local tech geeks and public officials have banded together to promote Baltimore to Google (and the world, really) as a place to invest innovation dollars. Does Baltimore stand a chance?

I just spotted a new feature on the Baltimore team's website, over at www.bmorefiber.com. Check out the photo slideshow and comprehensive pitches to Google. Pretty impressive stuff.

Makes one sorta proud to live in Baltimore, no?

Asheville NC will hopefully win the Google Fiber to the Home project. If you want to see all the videos we put together then go to Youtube and search for “Asheville Google Fiber Initiative” and “Asheville-O-Vision”. Both groups have 180+ videos. Makes for good entertainment! Also follow on twitter at #googleavl and on Facebook search for the group “Asheville Google Fiber Initiative”
