The Daily Show, "Aged News" and the New York Times
The clash between old and new technologies is perhaps nowhere most evident than in the field of publishing. Specifically newspaper publishing vs. Web publishing.
Comedy Central's The Daily Show pokes some fun at newspapers in this video. It's a must-watch. The New York Times was a good sport. (What company dares to let the Daily Show film crew in the door?!)
Whatcha think of the vid?
(Thanks to Amy Webb, @webbmedia, for bringing to my attention earlier today)

Pretty funny Gus. The interviewer comes across as a twit who doesn't know anything about the newspaper biz except for total instant gratification. Hmmmm, could he be related to Sam Zell? ;-)
BTW, congratulations on your new blog. It's a much appreciated addition to the, uh, non-aged news.

Great find! My crowning achievement in my past career as a reporter was to have The Daily Show do a segment based off a story I had written on a student at our local college who had recently discovered Rastafarianism and decided to go on a hunger strike. It was so hard to write the story for the paper and not make the kid into a joke...luckily The Daily Show did that for me :)

Very amusing, though the editor is correct that bloggers like the Huffington Post just riff on the work of others. I've yet to see anyone from the HP at my local school board meeting...
On a TOTALLY unrelated topic, had an I-phone question. A friend wants to see about getting an app on I-phone. How does one go about that? If you've got a service of some kind, how do you get it to be an accepted I-phone app? Whom do you call, what's the procedure? I've asked around and have come up with nada!
I believe you have to register as an app developer first with Apple, which costs a couple hundred bucks. That will give you access to the developers kit (the SDK), which is needed to build an app that interacts with the iphone. Then you submit the app to Apple for approval, which can take some time. If you Google "Apple and SDK", you should find the info on Apple's site.
Anybody else want to describe the process in more detail? -gs

I know that irony is a relatively acute term but I think this might fit. Newspaper reporter posts video on his Blog about how the printed news has become antiquated.
Ironic or not I applaud you, The Baltimore Sun, The New York Times and the Daily Show for offering up a good giggle.
Loving Balt Tech, keep up the good work you old newshound.
thank you, sir! -gs

Hmmm. Why doesn't the Daily Show take down this aged video? Aren't they devoted to topical jokes? This one is already several days old!
