The Democratic National Convention Committee confirmed this morning that Sen. will accept his party's presidential nomination at Denver's INVESCO Field.

The football stadium can accommodate more than 75,000 people and will serve as the Democratic National Convention site for the final day of the gathering, Aug. 28.

"The Democratic Party is nominating a true change candidate this August, and it is only fitting that we make some big changes in how we put on the convention," DNC chairman Howard Dean said in a statement. "By bringing the last night of the convention out to the people, we will be able to showcase 's positive, people-centered vision for our country in a big way."

The bulk of the convention, from Aug. 25 through Aug. 27, remains at the Pepsi Center in downtown Denver.

Doyle McManus, of the Los Angeles Times, had reported the likely venue change over the 4th of July holiday weekend.

Howard Dean claims this is a "big change". Knowing Dean's reputation for inaccuracy, you can bet that accepting a nomination in a stadium ISN'T anything new. Sure enough, JFK did a similar stunt in 1960, and it's probably been done other times as well.

I dont like anything about him. He depresses me.

Although I won't vote Republican, the idea that Obama represents real change is startling to me. His endorsements of Stroger and Tillman in our recent elections tells me that he's playing an old game with new words... nothing more. Chicago politics as usual... scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. The only change seems to be the rhetoric.

Give him a couple days...he'll change his mind.

This will give the left wing Replay '68 protestors a field day. Can't keep them out.

More window dressing designed to divert attention away from Obama's hard-left schemes such as his plan to cover 15 million illegal immigrants with federally subsidized health insurance, dramatically driving up costs and forcing federal rationing of healthcare. As in the U.K. and Canada, you will not be permitted certain medical procedures if the bureaucrats decide you are not worth it. Or Obama's plan to legislate a 60 percent tax bracket for upper-income Americans, killing all initiative and innovation. Or his plan to double the capital gains tax, saddling the 50 percent of Americans who own stock with dramatically higher taxes.
Or Obama's plan to double the dividend tax, hitting elderly coupon-clippers now retired and depending on fixed incomes. Obama is a con man. Nothing more.

Is the field big enough for Obama's ego?

Brigett, who? Obama or Dean?
I find Obama to be pretentious as well as dishonest. Trying to be JFK reincarnated. I find him repulsive at best. It should be Clinton up there. I hope all the states that went for her in the primaries cast their deligate votes for her in Denver. She is holding on to those deligates and has not turned them over to Obama.

McCain could never fill a stadium with supporters. The big money CEOs , Lobbyists, and military contractors who are his core support would never show up. They're much too elitist to ever be seen in a situation like that.

McCain should hold his acceptance speech at a venue that seats about 200 people, because that's how many people care.

A Illinois polotician as the President? God help us all.

it should be Hilary? Get over it and accept who the party is recognizing as their nomination.

What if it rains?

RFB, I hope Hillary asks her delegates to do just that. I'll enjoy watching her be humiliated when those same delegates put the nation, and the party over the Clintons and vote for Obama. Finally the party would be done with the self centered, arrogant, egocentric Clintons and their sense of personal entitlement.

It is wonderful for the " Obama-haters", they can't pass up any opportunity to take cheap, meaningless shots at our Democratic candidate for the Presidency, Senator Barack Obama!! Their candidate, Senator " Questionable Conduct " McCain has comported himself in such a manner, one would be a very desperate Republican to be really able to support him. That is why all of the cheap shots and attack, attack attack. Senator McCain's supporters have nothing to offer, their leader, The Flip-Flopper King, has nothing new to offer America and they know it!! That is why the cheap shots !!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE AND WHOLE. NOW.

It is a change however from 2004, 2000, 1996, 1992, 1988, 1984, 1980, 1976, 1972, 1968, and 1964. Is it a big change? Half a century may or may not be 'big,' depending on one's perspective?

Give me a break, Jen. If you think that Durbin, Daley, Madigan, Burke, Stroger, and Blagoevich et al are going to be sitting in INVESCO Filed with their bodyguards to listen to Obama, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn that you might be interested in purchasing.

This is all about ego, nothing more. How much will security for this circus cost the people? I guess the people of Denver are willing to foot the bill, I wouldn't be.

Obama if you don't worship him then you must be a Obama hater? I find no logic in that statement. I disagree with Obama on many issues, and rightfully so. What if Obama were elected and the economy got worse, and other places required our military intervention. Would the media, and Obama then blame the next President, or will they continue to apologize and find scapegoats for their actions?

Once again, Obama poaches another idea from someone else (JFK this time). When will this man ever come up with something original? He's an empty suit and a fraud.

Once again - style over substance.

Jason,
First, learn to spell if you can’t spell political correct on a political blog, you better throw in the towel.

Second, ever heard of our 16th President? Abraham Lincoln, can you take a guess as to where he was from…….Illinois.
Open mouth insert foot!

More star stuffed affairs for the Rock Star. Fits a pattern of the primaries.

No substance--just more glitter.

McCain will accept the nomination as he flies over the Republican National Convention in his wife's private jet. He'll wave down at the "little people" as he passes, while continuing his conversation with the lobbyists who run his campaign.

Who cares? Is this kind of grandstanding really changing how Washington is run, or are we simply seeing more of the same? Nobody really cares, and it is more of the same.

Shame on you DNC, and SHAME on you Obama for once again using us for your own personal gain.

Oy! Find any other nits to pick?

I don't think the corruption in Illinois politics was nearly as despicable and obvious then as it is now.

McCain, Supporters from big money, have you checked out Obama's bank roll. It is not coming off the internet people, come on, wake the heck up and open your eyes. Obama is getting backed by your so called big money companies and others. The guy has no
record at all. Not here in Illinois or in Washington. Dont vote for inexperience just because of a political party.

Anyone remember when McCain couldn't fill a small convention center in AZ so they moved his fundraiser to a private residence? He's boring.

"...have you checked out Obama's bank roll. It is not coming off the internet..."

You're absolutely right, John. It's coming from lobbyists, spouses of lobbyists, bundlers, lobbyist bundlers...

I cannot wait for Socialism... The government really needs to help people like me... I have been working too long.

I think it would be great if Obama was to hold his acceptance speech at Ohio States HorseShoe Stadium. What a statement that would make, in a red state on top of that especially in Central Ohio.

Oh Virgina, silly you... You are worried about what the security will cost us? Have you forgotten the billions upon billions upon billions of dollars that the current administration has cost us? That is what I like about you Right Wing Nuts, you have a very very short memory....

That's the only way O'bama can get on a football gridiron because nobody makes a helmet to fit his ego. I hope it SNOWS!! He can fill the balloons with all his hot air.

I dont like anything about BHO. He depresses me.He'll never be POTUS. Maybe he can open his own church and preach from the pulpit since he likes to perform before large crowds. I'm a die-hard Hillary supporter who still believes in miracles. After all, BHO is still only the 'presumptive' nominee.

Wow, looks like they've finally found a place that's big enough for his ego.

Obama’s acceptance speech could play a critical role in this year’s election. Colorado has always been known as a strong Republican state but it seems to have drifted under the radar toward the liberals in the past few years. With the DNC being hosting at the Denver Pepsi Center and Obama making such a strong statement by giving his acceptance speech to potentially 70,000+ visitors at Invesco Mile High Field, Colorado might just vote democrat this year - it could be a turning point in the Democrats’ favor!
