PHILADELPHIA--So much for the belief that Indiana singer John Mellencamp endorsed Barack Obama.
When Obama's campaign announced that Mellencamp would be performing at tonight's rally in Evansville, Ind., jump-starting the Hoosier state's May 6 presidential contest, it was widely perceived to be an endorsement of the Illinois senator's candidacy.
Shortly after the Obama announcement, his rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Hillary Clinton, entered her own Pennsylvania event with the sound of Mellencamp's "Small Town" playing. Her campaign also has Mellencamp's "This Is Our Country" on its artists list. But by performing at an Obama event, there were questions about how soon the songs would be removed from her campaign playlist.
The answer, apparently, is that Mellencamp will continue to be played at Clinton campaign events. Clinton's campaign just announced that Mellencamp will perform on Saturday at rally the New York Democrat is planning in Indianapolis.
Mellencamp had previously endorsed former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards for the Democratic nomination.

Yes, or else it will remind us that it doesn't really matter who Mellencamp endorses anyway...

I'm a big John Mellencamp fan; does not change his music; and like every free blooded American, Mellencamp is entilted to change heart and mind and do the right thing and endorse Hillary Clinton! :)
