Republican Sen. John McCain has scored his best fundraising month to date -- with $15 million collected in March -- according to a campaign official.
This may be overshadowed by the money that the Democrats raised last month -- $40 million by Barack Obama and $20 million by Hillary Clinton. But it's the best number yet for the GOP's presumptive presidential nominee, who set a previous record of $11.7 million for himself in January.
McCain also can count on $84 million in public financing for the general election campaign, should he accept it. So McCain's donors are being asked to supplement that with contributions to the Republican National Committee, which has set a goal of raising $120 million through a joint Victory Committee. Individuals are permitted to donate up to $28,500 to the party.
With the Democrats still battling over their party's nomination, Obama has raised about $234 million for his campaign, Clinton $175 million for hers, during the span of the contest so far, and McCain has raised about $75 million since he started campaigning last year.

McCain's pathetic fundraising remains pathetic ....
It's not just the amount that's pathetic, it's who it's from.
In March, officials said he raised about $15M, his best month since early 2007 and well above his $2M-per-month pace in late 2007. The final number is still being tallied.
$11m came from a spurt in the campaign's high-dollar fundraising. $4m was raised through direct mail and Internet efforts.

Remember, that $11 million is from people McCain can no longer hit up again for money. To raise just $4 million via the internet and direct mail means he has next-to-no grassroots support.
"In March, the Obama campaign raised some $40 million, putting their overall total for the quarter in the range of $130 million. The Clinton campaign, which no longer has a particularly easy path to the nomination, raised $20 million in March, raising her total for the year to roughly $70 million. McCain, on the other hand, could only manage to bring in $15 million for the month -- including just $4 million from the grassroots -- moving his overall haul for 2008 to under $40 million. In other words, McCain couldn't raise in three months what Obama was able to raise just this past month alone (a fundraising month that actually represented a decline of more than a quarter from the previous month). Pitting McCain against Clinton, the Republican in three months took in just 70 percent of what the Democrat was able to bring in during just two months".

Republican donors are big money people, they know a poor investment (McCain) when they see it.

And yet Obama and Clinton are polling even with McCain. America is hungry for change, and yet when they look at the 2 Democrtaic fluffs they just see more of the same.

Moron Jerk,
You're right, Americans are hungry for change and this old warmongering nut who loves George Bush isn't what they have in mind:

The corporations and lobbyist lawyers salivate at the mouth and stuff cash into the coffers of Obama and Clinton but they fear McCain and won't give him money. That should tell you all you need to know.

Yeah right!
John McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, and yet he said "I'm the only one the special interests don't give any money to."

McCain's campaign has been whipped into shape, so anyone who thinks he won't raise big buck does so at their own peril. That said we all know how well run the Obama campaign is. I doubt either will have any problem raising money. Remember this, once the Democrats unite they will be a force to be reckoned with, and one that with all due respect to Mr McCain I hope will prevail. I like the old fellow but with all his crazy talk of late. Obama 2008.

Obama has raised $234 million dollars doesn't that give you a clue with his past associations in Chicago, the Cook County corrupt machine. Rezko, Wright, Terrorist William Ayers, his membership in the Trial Lawyers and the many unions he is beholden to many special interests. The teachers union and others play a role.Obama is far from Abraham Lincoln the great emancipator, he is in with Jeremiah Wright the anti-white rascist or as he snidely says the typical white person when referring to his sweet grandmother. If he wins lookout! Yep they fear him sooo much that the lobbyists are falling over each other working on his campaign and fundraising for him. McCain is the lobbyist's candidate through and through.

Everyone knows how cozy McCain is with the lobbyist community, and their corporate clients, except Jeff that is.
