"We're going to send Jessica Simpson to the Democrat National Convention,'' President Bush said today, with a sort of joke for the members of the Super Bowl-winning New York Giants assembled at the White House.
"You secured a wild card,'' Bush told the team. "And it was interesting, in the last game of the season, a lot of folks thought the coach would just kind of lay down and let New England cruise to a perfect season. I remember a lot of people speculating about that last game of the season -- and yet you didn't, coach.
"Your team didn't win on the scoreboard, but you won the hearts of a lot of Americans for contesting the game,'' Bush said on the South Lawn. "And it clearly gave your team some self-confidence, because you stormed through Tampa Bay and then went into Dallas -- I'm a good sport,'' said the Texan sports fan in chief. "We're going to send Jessica Simpson to the Democrat National Convention..''

I can't believe you guys made a post of this and somehow "forgot" to even recognize that Al Franken agreed to pay his taxes three years too late today to the tune of $70,000. Amazing what you guys will do for the love of the DNC, Silva.

Yeah, it's much better to talk about flag-pins and pastors and stuff like that...
Posted by: John E | April 30, 2008 5:16 PM
John, which is less important, flag pins or Jessica Simpson? You tell me. Seems to me that a politician willfully cheating on his taxes is much more newsy than either.
I see your point, though, this is the Swamp. We rarely to never discuss anything that's really important.

Hey Jeff, why didn't you want to talk about how McCain is against Senator Webb's Post-9/11 Veterans Education Assistance Act earlier? Wasn't that important enough for you?
Posted by: Michael | April 30, 2008 5:37 PM
Because the republican plan is better, Michael. It rewards those who make careers out of the military and don't just stay in for a tour and get out. If you can come up with the money required for Webb's plan then I'm sure he'll get the votes. Nice to see your anger is back in the swamp, Michael.

Jeff-
I see, so just doing one or two combat tours isn't enough for you, Jeff.?
After all the combat tours you've done, I can see how you would look down your nose at those who have only done a couple, and to denigrate their sacrifice for this country. You're on your fifth or sixth, right?
Webb, thinks that one or two tours is still worth something. His plan (which has support of both Republicans and Democrats) rewards all our vets, not just the career guys like you. I guess he's just not elitist enough for you and McCain.
As for how to pay for it...well, we can pay for 4 years of it for less than the cost of John McCain's 3 month gas tax holiday. How's he paying for that?
Posted by: Michael | April 30, 2008 6:39 PM
What is he sending Jessica for? To provide 'escort services' to the Dems?

Jeff, my friend;
How do you get posted so fast and, apparently, with no lost posts?
-
I lose half my posts, (with no front page complaints), yet all your posts have continuity, and seem to go up without a typical 4 hour delay.
-
Could it be you have an 'agreement' with the conservative Trib?
-
After all, as we all know, by bashing the Trib as 'liberal' only enhances your message.
-
Enjoy your evening.

Michael,
You nailed Jeff. I wanted to, but couldn't calm myself enough.
Thanks.

Bush has the sense of humor of an impotent and poor republican. And, Bush is NOT a good sport. If he doesn't get his own way he throws a news conference and attempts to strong-arm the House or Senate by telling the US public half truths. Example: "Congress needs to make the tax cuts permanant". Truth: The main tax cuts are for the wealthy. Bush is so nothing. When he is out of office he will be more of a nothing. That will be worse than pathetic.
