Sen. Hillary Clinton, sitting for an interview in Indiana with FOX News' Bill O'Reilly, calls the saga of her rival Barack Obama and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright "offensive and outrageous.''
by Mark Silva
Sen. Barack Obama may believe that he has put the Rev. Jeremiah Wright behind him, but Sen. Hillary Clinton does not.
"Well, I take offense at it,'' Clinton says of the remarks of Obama's longtime and now retiring pastor, in an interview with FOX News' Bill O'Reilly that will start airing on The O'Reilly Factor this evening.
"I think it's offensive and outrageous,'' Clinton tells O'Reilly. "And, you know, I'm going to express my opinion, others can express theirs. But, you know, it is -- it is part of, you know, just an atmosphere that we're in today where all kinds of things are being said.
"And people have to, you know, decide what they believe,'' Clinton says, with a ready allusion to one of Wright's more infamous suggestions: "I sure don't believe the United States government was behind AIDS."
While Clinton corners The O'Reilly Factor tonight, NBC Nightly News will air excerpts of an interview with Obama and wife Michelle and CNN is promoting a talk with Michelle Obama on Anderson Cooper 360. The FOX News Channel interview with Clinton, conducted in South Bend, Ind., today. will air in segments, starting tonight at 8 pm EDT and again Thursday at the same time.
Obama this week sought to distance himself from the retiring pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, whose remarks from the pulpit have created a storm of controversy for the campaign of a longtime congregant.
Clinton speaks about more than Obama, of course, in the FOX interview. She addresses the high price of gasoline and more:
"I'm trying to lay the groundwork so that when I'm president, we can get in there and say this has been going on way too long. I also want to take on OPEC. You know, OPEC is a cartel, it's a monopoly,'' Clinton tells O'Reilly. "Nine of the 13 biggest oil-producing countries that are in OPEC are also members of the WTO. I would file complaints. I would also change the law so that citizens and businesses could file antitrust actions. We're going to begin to hold them accountable."
See more here, courtesy of FOX News, from the O'Reilly interview of Clinton:
"In the '90s, we had one of the strongest, fairest economies we've ever had,'' Clinton says on the question of taxes and the economy. "Yes, did people like you and me pay a little bit more? We sure did. But so did everybody else benefit, because middle class taxes stayed pretty even.
"People are net losers under the Bush economy,'' Clinton asserts. "They were net winners under the Clinton economy. We're going to bring back a good, positive economy for the vast majority of Americans."
On Iran:
"If Iran were to ever obtain a nuclear weapon, that would be unbelievably bad for us and the world. And I'm going to do everything I can to prevent that from ever happening.''
On withdrawal of troops from Iran:
"First of all, I believe that our military has fulfilled all their military missions. There's no doubt in my mind. They got rid of Saddam Hussein, which they were asked to do. They gave the Iraqis free and fair elections. They gave the Iraqi government the space and time to make the decisions that only the Iraqis can make for themselves.
"There is no military solution to what we face in Iraq, which is unprecedented. It is dangerous, it is unstable. I have said that I will begin withdrawing our troops because I believe two things.
"Number one, because there is no military solution, we have got to emphasize the political and the diplomatic. And because as we withdraw them, that's the only way to focus the Iraqi government on what they must do for themselves.
"I think it's somewhat open to debate as to whether Iran really wants to see us withdraw, and here's why. They have been an equal opportunity supporter of the militias, of the insurgents, of anybody who would pick up arms against the United States.
"They would have to begin to pick sides. That will, I believe, catalyze Iraqi nationalism. Remember, we have a Persian state, the Iranians; an Arab state, the Iraqis. There will be a lot of conflict between the Iranians and the Iraqis moving forward if the United States is on the sidelines, in stead of in the middle."
On terrorist interrogation and water-boarding:
"Well, Bill, first of all, of the three of us who are running for president, each of us has decided we will not condone and sanction torture. Obviously Senator McCain knows a whole lot more about this than both of us put together. I know from firsthand discussions with people who have responsibilities for extracting information and getting good intelligence out of those who are our enemies that torture doesn't work.''
On immigration:
"It's broken. I share the frustration. I have voted for tougher border controls. I've voted to put more money, more personnel, even a physical barrier where appropriate. I'm 100 percent in favor of tightening our borders, of enforcing the laws against employers, of going after the kind of abuses that we see in the job market, of making it clear that we have got to figure out what we're going to do with people."

Comments
Of course she spoke about substance-the Obama comment no doubt was a response to a foul up from Obama--and Obama folks will attack her for it and call HER negative.
Jeesh.
Focus on the substance, maybe?

Leave it to Billary to smear a fellow Dem in her insane quest for power.
Billary seems to purposley forget that Rev Wright was the first person Bill Clinton turned to after Bill got caught committing adultery with Monica Lewinsky in the White House:

Clinton's got it just slightly wrong.
She's the one who's offensive and outrageous.

I could say that about somebody else, but I must have more tact, than that person. Oh, that's right, an election is going, so it's okay, I guess, to take cheap shots. Have a good day!!
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, BRING THEM HOME, ALIVE. NOW.

Yet neither one of them said even one word about the reverends Parsley and Hagee, both of whom were ACTIVELY CHASED by McSame to get their support.

But what does her pastor think? That's what's important. I'm sure her views merely follow what her pastor thinks, just like Obama. Everyone knows that every politician is just a puppet for their pastor and that they never ever disagree.
Candidates are unimportant. Bring on the Pastors.

Why doesn't anyone ever ask Senator Clinton about the Fellowship?

She would not just let it die. Biggest opportunist and slanderer by far.

Seriously.
WHAAATTT????
From now on, I don't think we should read anything other than snippets of what people are saying or trying to say. That is the Rev. Wright legacy.

If Hillary can do a repeat of her husband's solution for our economy, I'm all for her. If she can pull us out of this despicable war, I'm all for her. If she can provide health care at the cost of those privileged folks who have been living high on the hog for the past 8 years, I'm all for her. If she can help us to recover our global image, I'm all for her. if she can broker a lasting peace and a homeland for the Palestinians, and in doing so, show the rest of the Middle East that America can be impartial and help to establish a viable democratic state, I'm all for her. If she can do all these taks, then she will indeed become one of the most admired leaders of the free world..
The men have had their chance. I say that Hillary can do it, and should be the candidate for the Democratic party. With her, there will be no question or doubt about her motives. She is committed to this country and its people, not to some distant ephemeral homeland in Africa.

As I watch Bill stump in NC and Ind and I listen to Sen. Clinton decry the loss of a factory in Valparaiso, Ind. (Magnequench) am I the only one that remembers that it was Bill who promoted this sale (and also, among others, another factory in Anderson, Indiana) with his penchant for global trade expansion. How can Hillary bemoan the shutdown a factory, when the shutdown was triggered by actions during their watch? Her campaign is responding that they were given assurances that the jobs were going to be kept in the US but Congressional Research Services report that the assurances were only until 2005. The Clintons way of saying "the deluge can come after we leave."
ABC news is reporting on this.

Well, she wouldn't have HAD to go on Fox if Obama wouldn't have RUN from Fox for so dang long.
It's not like Obama's passed any media reform stuff (nor HIllary--it would be a political nail in the you know what) anyway.
And since he's running from debating her, I hope she goes on Fox EVER DANG DAY TIL HE AGREES TO DEBATE!

TWO FACES OF HILLARY
When Bill Clinton, a husband, father, president, outspoken figure and spiritual confidant to
Hillary, betrayed her trust, she did not "disowned" him.
Hilary responded to Rev. Wright's remarks that she would leave the church, but she did not leave her husband in spite of being being humiliated, offensive and outraged
