There's a magazine for well-to-do and connected Harvard University alumni etc. called "02138" (that's the institution's zip code) that ran a cover story last year on power couples with Harvard pedigrees.
And it so happens a photo of Gov. Eliot Spitzer and his wife Silda Wall Spitzer graced the cover. They met at Harvard Law School.
The article doesn't reveal much that helps us understand how Spitzer could now find himself in the situation he's in now.
But there is this one passage, which many married parents will be able to identify with, that probably takes on more importance in light of everything that's been reported today.
Asked if she and her husband take time together, just the two of them, Wall laughs. “With three kids and two dogs at the ages they are—the ages they all are—and our careers and community engagement, it’s hard to say that we do.” They devote their free time to their daughters, Elyssa, 16, Sarabeth, 14, and Jenna, 12. On Election Day, they set aside the afternoon for Jenna’s soccer match.

EVERY PARENT HAS A WIFE WHO IS BUSY - BUT MOST REAL MEN CAN DEAL WITH IT WITHOUT RESORTING TO PROSTITUTES, SEXUAL HARRASSMENT OR OTHER ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES !
THIS CREEP WAS "VETTED" BY NONE OTHER THAN QUEEN HIL-LIAR-Y HERSELF WHEN HIL-LIAR-Y ACCEPTED THE ENDORSEMENT OF SPITZER
NOW HE'S "NETTED" IN A STING FOR A CRIME HE'S BEEN SUSPECTED OF BEFORE
FROM VETTED TO NETTED
WILL THIS SUPERDELEGATE WHO SAYS HE PLANS TO VOTE FOR HIL-LIAR-Y BE REPLACED ?
CAN A SUPER-DELEGATE BE REPLACED ? (OR IS THE "S" ON THE CHEST PERMANENT ???)
CAN HIL-LIAR-Y REPUDIATE SUCH AN ENDORSEMENT AS OBAMA HAS DONE ?

I hate to say Spitzer deserves it, but with his no nonsense attitude toward all crimes and the way he presented himself in public, he certainly does.

Wow, RNC Bruce must be in hog heaven. No less than four Swamp articles about Spritzer and the prostitute.
Vitter only got two. I guess the vast left wing media conspiracy is falling down on the job.

Do the honorable thing Spitzer,deny,deny,deny.
Blame it on the right wing press.

This guy has to go. That's it. But a question comes to mind...will they vilify this mans wife as they have others in the past if she were to choose to try and make their marriage work. Always found it funny that the right who claim a moral compass never allow forgiveness. I thought that was a Christian virtue.

He would have been just as bad off if he had picked up a doll from off the street. At least it would have been cheaper and he may have stood a better chance of getting away with it. A sailor's uniform, a nice fake bead and 'stache, he would have had it made. Geez, what do these guys learn at Hawvuhd anyway?

Why do these guys always roll out the wives at the press conferences? Why do these women stand there? Just once, I'd like to see a guy standing there alone saying, "I was wrong. I told my wife she didn't have to prop me up. I don't want to humiliate her any more than I already have."

A lack of sex in your marriage is no excuse for hiring hookers. If you need physical intimacy find a page boy.

I, too, wonder why these wives stand there looking so hurt and prim. Is the lifestyle so important that they must degrade themselves for these poor excuses for men. And what an example for his children.

Look at Spitzer's (D)beautiful family (D) and all C. Morris (Lib D.) can do is make fun of them.
C.Morris (Lib D.) should be ashamed of himself because atleast Spitzer can still provide his family with Health Insurance, unlike, C.Morris the non - tax - paying - (Lib D.)
Let us winners in life pay for C.Morris (Lib D.) and his family's health care insurance!
Oh, C.Morris (Lib D.) if your late on your mortgage payment too, let us working tax payers take on that burden too.
Ummm....we just hope your car is paid off!

I am among those who also wonder about the wives standing next to their "contrite" husbands. Who can forget McGreevey's wife when she stood next to her husband as he proclaimed "I am a gay American"
I am beginning to think that politics and power raise the level of testosterone.

Although Republican Governor Eliot Spitzer's record on fighting corruption, both as Governor and as District Attorney, has been exemplary, his actions have made him unable to continue. It's an unfortunate end to a fine career, but he MUST step down. If criminal action is warranted (offhand, I'd say it is...), then he needs to handle that as well.
What? What's that? He's a DEMOCRAT!!??!!
OMG! Well, in THAT case .....
Replace "Republican" with "Democrat" and the rest still stands.

what a pity, all three girls resemble dad, and not their reasonably cute Rhodes Scholar mom

My heart goes out to his beautiful wife and his daughters. It begs the question "How could you do this to your family"? The problem I have is that he's a powerful man with money and will problem come out of this with a slap on the wrist.

duke,
Come on! There is nothing wrong the appearance of the girls. Besides being irrelevant, they are in their awkward years and may emerge as beauties.

I'd like to bring up a point. How long has this been going on? Has he been consorting with gangsters for a long time? What about all those he prosecuted. If I was prosecuted by this slimeball, I'd be asking a lot more questions. I think his whole personal life should be laid bare. Wonder how much corruption we might find. Reminds me of another attorney general, hmmm.
