The Swamp

by Christi Parsons

On the morning flight to DC, Barack Obama said today that he is happy to be stepping back from the “one primary a week” pace so he can think a little bit – and, it seems, enjoy some friendly chats with people who have trod this road before.

One guy he’s been chatting up is Al Gore, Obama mentioned in flight, saying that just last week he talked to the guy who won the popular vote in 2000.

He also talked “the last two weeks” with former Democratic rival John Edwards. In neither case did he reveal the subject of the conversations, except to say that he was expecting nothing more than “good advice” in the near future.

As he headed toward the Capitol, Obama was also anticipating a face-to-face reunion on the Senate floor with Hillary Clinton.

“I’m sure we’ll be both effusive,” he predicted, “and make sure that we shake hands.” When the two ran into each other there a few weeks back, as was widely noted in the press, their body language was less than warm.

As it turned out, the two got nearly five minutes of face time, as observers in the gallery noted. Clinton even passed on a cell phone call to continue the conversation.

Obama wants to make sure he's not acused again of "snubbing" Hillary !!!

Let's see 'em make out.

Make her publicly reject and denounce Ferraro, Barack.

Make him publicly reject and denounce his racist Pastor Wright, Hillary

I would like to see the two candidates more cordial to each other, and for them to take a step back and look at past actions - especially on the Clinton campaign's part - and make an effort to think of what the negativity does to the Democratic party and its chances in the general election. I'm sure John McCain is ecstatic every time another negative episode plays out in the press. And remember, it will be easier, and more believable, for the candidate who does not secure the Democratic nomination to back the other for the good of the party this fall.

The Clinton campaign is damaging a lot more than this election. With their blatant race baiting, half truths, and playing on the hatred and fears of the worst Americans at our worst moments, she is damaging the country. She is reopening wounds that have been trying to heel for decades. And if she steals the nomination, she will alienate a generation of young democrats, who will probably never participate in the process again. Her “Hillary or nobody” entitlement attitude is dangerous and evil. Let’s face it, Hillary IS a monster.

What difference does it make what Obama does? Hillary will just lie about it like she did about the "snub" and as she has about so many other things. So watch out for the latest Hillary lie/distortion-coming soon.

Well said, Jim! I've never seen anybody in my life act as selfishly as Hillary acts. She strives for power with no regard for anything but herself. I find it fascinating how she still claims she won the Michigan primary when nobody else was on the ballot. Maybe she should start her own autocracy somewhere else and things will make better sense to her. Added to that, the claim of her "experience" still eludes me. Aside from claiming that Bill's is hers and making phony claims of her role in Kosovo and Ireland's peace aggreement, what has she REALLY done? Obama has more elected experience than she does--a fact that most people don't even realize. I reject and denounce Hillary and her self centered win at all cost strategy that is destroying the democrats and giving the country substantial heartburn.

Bush Wacked,

Please tell me what's racist about Wright saying Hillary's never been called the N-word?

If Ferraro said Obama was never called the b-word, I don't that would make Ferraro a miscogynist...the logical equivalent of your argument. However, she did say the ONLY reason he's where he's at is because he's a black man...which may not be racist, but is certainly degrading, false and utterly disrespectful.

Chris,

When has Obama been anything but cordial? Hillary she feel honored to be called a monster...and monsters everywhere should be offended.

When are the Obamaites going to stop blaming Hillary Clinton for everything that they don't like?
Obama and his followers played the race card and pushed that as much as possible and the press just lapped it all up.
It is time to take a deep breath and analyze what has been happening.

Yep alee, Obama put a gun to Ferraro's mouth and told her to say something racist, incindiary and mildly retarded.

Let's turn the tables, alee. I think the only reason you have a computer and the ability to post such dumb comments is because you shacked up with a rich husband...Women don't have the requisite brain power to get a job that pays that much.

Get it now?

Chris,

I read this is how the tactic "deflection" works. When you do something wrong, you point at the other person instead and accuse him of the exact same thing as loud as you could. All attention is off of you and the other person gets damaged.

And that's how I feel about what Hillary's campaign is doing. Everything Hillary accuses Obama of is exactly what SHE's doing and/or started. Race, negative attacks, NAFTA etc.

Oh, the NAFTA thing about saying it's more politics than policy remember? Turns out it's the Clinton's campaign who said it.

Sigh - an Obama/Gore co-presidency - one man to restore America's reputation in the world, the other to focus people on healing the planet - would it be too much to ask for something like this at this critical point in history?

Chris, Foo is right, check out this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBheLrsMh4E

The only ones who can bring them back to the issues for the good of it and the party too are themselves

As a strong supporter of Obama, I urge ALL DEMOCRATS, please, to QUIT the Clinton bashing, and the bashing of Clinton supporters. Yes, some people do vote for her out of racism. But only a very few, relatively speaking. Pounding on Clinton and her supporters is not only counterproductive, it's mean, petty and completely unnecessary. Obama himself strongly disapproves of such behavior, and condemns it.

Hmm. The previous loser D presidential candidates (Kennedy, Dukakis, McGovern, Richardson) are all supportive of lightweight Obama. So nominate him, and let's see what kind of president John McCain turns out to be. A frustrated democrat, dreading more republican rule....but that's where we're headed if Obama is the nominee.

UGH.
