The Swamp

by Mark Silva and with an update from Messiah

Messiah College, a small Christian school in Pennsylvania staging a bipartisan “Compassion Forum’’ in early April – nine days before the Keystone State’s Democratic primary election – says Sen. Hillary Clinton has accepted an invitation extended to all three of the presidential candidates.

The rest should go, too.

They’d have a lot to talk about:

Sen. Barack Obama’s controversial and retired pastor, and Sen. Hillary Clinton’s contention that she would have walked out on the Rev. Jeremiah Wright after making the remarks from the pulpit that he did, as well as Sen. John McCain’s endorsement by the Rev. John Hagee, who has maintained that New Orleans invited the wrath of God with the sins committed by its people.

A convergence of the three could make for powerful political theater in a state where Clinton holds an apparently strong advantage over Obama and the Illinois senator has lost 10 points in favorability ratings between mid-February and mid-March, according to a Franklin and Marshall College poll.

Messiah College, a liberal arts college for 3,000 in Grantham, Pa., sits outside of Harrisburg. On April 13, the campus will convene its compassion forum. The school says Obama and McCain are considering their invitations.

Sponsors say today that it is not looking for a debate over campaign controversies. "The Compassion Forum was created to provide the opportunity for candidates to discuss how their faith and moral convictions bear on their positions on issues that are bridging ideological divides in the faith community – issues like poverty, global AIDS, and climate change,'' Katie Barge, a spokeswoman for Faith in Public Life, sponsoring the event with Messiah, said today. "The purpose of the forum is not to focus on the latest controversies on the campaign trail.''

The college isn’t planning a debate, but rather “an unprecedented opportunity to reach religious voters.’’ The campus forum will be broadcast on the Church Communication Network (CCN) to more than 100,000 people of faith in at least 1,000 churches across the country on April 20, the Sunday evening before the Pennsylvania primary.

The candidates could have a conversation, close and personal, that they have been having long-distance during the past few weeks.

Clinton could ask Obama directly about the retired pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ who has created so much controversy for him. She said this week that she would not have tolerated Wright’s remarks:

“He would not have been my pastor,’’ Clinton told a newspaper editorial board in Pittsburgh this week, with an obvious allusion to Obama’s contention that Wright has been like “an old uncle’’ to him. “You don't choose your family,’’ Clinton said, “but you choose what church you want to attend.’’

Obama could say what he said in Philadelphia, in his widely-hailed call for “a more perfect union:’’

“The remarks that have caused this recent firestorm weren’t simply controversial,’’ Obama said in his speech about race and unity. “They weren’t simply a religious leader’s effort to speak out against perceived injustice. Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country – a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America…

“As such, Reverend Wright’s comments were not only wrong but divisive, divisive at a time when we need unity,’’ Obama said, “racially charged at a time when we need to come together to solve a set of monumental problems.’’

And McCain could talk about Hagee’s support.

Hagee, who helped found Christians United for Israel, has lobbied Congress for support of Israel in a movement that many view as a cause bent on taking the final war to Israel’s enemies – bring on Iran and the rest. Hagee also has taken some personal stances that raise other questions.

“New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that,’’ Hagee proclaimed after Hurricane Katrina.

McCain has said this:

“I think it's important to note that pastor John Hagee who has supported and endorsed my candidacy supports what I stand for and believe in. I don't have to agree with everyone who endorses my candidacy. They are supporting my candidacy. I am not endorsing some of their positions."

OBAMA IS UNELECTABLE IN GENERAL ELECTION
Easy to see already see Republican attack ads against Obama. First open with videos of racist wife, Michelle, saying she was proud of America "for the first time" because of her husband's presidential candidacy, next Obama explaining that he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin or hold his hands to his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance because it is a "substitute for true patriotism." Then flash a clip of Obama explaining that his Caucasian grandmother was a "typical white person" because she uttered racial epithets and was afraid of black people. Finally, the coup de grace, pictures of Obama's angry, arm-waving preacher blaming the United States for 9/11 and shouting "God Damn America" to the rafters of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ and preaching the U.S. government formulated the HIV AIDS virus to commit genocide against blacks. Even though Obama supposedly condemning Wright's shocking verbal assaults against the U.S and White Americans, even last year; Obama was the first to public ally demand Don Imus ouster for making a racially insensitive remark, and Obama continues to support Wrights racism and remains at the church for more than 20 years, he and Michelle obviously feels it’s a good environment to expose his young daughters too. His opinions and issues change with the weather, he is too UNSTABLE and proven he cannot make a decision or stay with one. If that’s not enough, then you start showing his terrible senate voting record, Obama when faced with tough choices always gave in to pressure from the Bush administration or corporate lobbyists, Obama dealings with one of his largest contributors, Exelon, a big nuclear power company and the deals he cut behind closed doors to protect them from full disclosure in the nuclear industry. Obamas record shows he infact did support the war when he got to the senate, voted twice against bringing America's troops back home. He voted for war appropriations giving our money to Halliburton and Blackwater where Texas woman, was gang-raped by her co-workers at a Halliburton/KBR camp in Baghdad, His latest bit of posturing S 433 allows the Bush Administration to suspend any troop withdrawal, if not suspended, keeps the troops in Iraq for a long time to come, but in his camp stumps touts he wants to bring troops home, but as we have witnessed his recent lies to voters like Canada he cannot be trusted on his word and lastly ALL the corrupt indicted financial backers, like Rezko…Get out of the race Obama you are destroying the democratic party!

MYTH: Barack Obama is running a positive campaign that will unite Americans.
FACT: Barack Obama and his advisers have conducted a divisive "full assault" on Hillary's character.
While talking a lot about the politics of hope, change and unity, Sen. Obama and his campaign have been conducting a relentless and singularly personal assault on Hillary's character. They have blanketed big states with false negative mailers and radio ads and have described Hillary and her campaign as "disingenuous," "divisive," "untruthful," "dishonest," "polarizing," "calculating," "saying whatever it takes to win," "attempting to deceive the American people," "one of the most secretive in America," “deliberately misleading,” “literally willing to do anything to win,” and “playing politics with war."
This "full assault" on Hillary's integrity and character has reached a new peak since Hillary's victories on March 4th. One of Sen. Obama's top surrogates equated President Clinton with Joe McCarthy; another called Hillary a "monster;" and his campaign manager held an angry conference call claiming that Hillary is "deeply flawed" and has "character issues." That's neither unifying nor hopeful. If Sen. Obama really is the prohibitive favorite some say he is, these negative attacks make absolutely no sense. Why would a frontrunner seek to attack and divide? If Sen. Obama can't unify Democrats in a primary, how can he unify Americans in a general election?

Wait, so Clinton's coming to Obama?

Of course Rev. Wright would not have been Hillary's pastor. She is part the privileged community that has a lifetime of experience deciding what is best for minorities without ever experiencing their world. Perhaps having to deal with some racial "sniper fire" would have made her more tolerant of others positions and histories.
It would do her good to have that experience. She could have spoken to him at her husbands fall from grace prayer breakfast. Apparently she and Rev. Wright were seated next to each other.
I think the Clintons are so crooked they couldn't worm their way through a barrel of fishhooks.

Hillary may even hit her knees there and ask for forgivness for being a liar. Talk about not be electable LOL

Carville speaks for the Clinton dynasty. Carville has shown tremendous disrespect for the first and only Hispanic governor and should be drummed out of the Democratic party, if the Clinton campaign will not disavow him. Hillary is a horrible liar who cannot tell the difference between truth and lie. As for Mondale's claim that it is harder for a woman to be elected POTUS instead of a black man, ask Mondale how many (white) women are in the House and Senate in contrast to how many black men. How many women attend college in contrast to black men. How do (white) women do in life with money and housing and health and mortality in contrast to black men? As a successful professional woman, I am heartily ashamed to hear someone I used to admire play the race and gender card to advantage the Clinton dynasty.

Rev. Wright was on Obama's campaign as an advisor. Obama should have taken care of this long before this came out.

It is very important that people understand that while campaigning for this position is going to have the "dirt" effect. It is history. Obama is not untouchable in that respect and if he does make into the White House it will not stop. It was done to the Clintons, and spending over 50 million dollars in tax payers money, could not find the charger true against Hillary or the Clintons. But, by doing so....there would always be a way to bring them to suspect.

Obama does not understand what he does not know.

Perhaps Hillary will have more and more frequent opportunities like this event in the coming days to explain to her liberal women supporters her sharing of church or faith group with R. Santorum and Brownback, as reported in some websites.

Why does everyone forget Dr. Wright was quoting a WHITE man who spoke the words "GDAmerica," as has been reported widely on the internet? "They" accept McCain's answer, why can't "they" accept Obama's answer which has essentially the same meaning: they are not espousing the beliefs of everyone who supports them and can appreciate the support. So far as Dr. Wright as an Obama advisor--read what the pastor of the Clinton's former church says about Dr. Wright--billiant man of peace. Worse than any of this is Hillary's cult-church (also reported widely) and ongoing decision to ignore her factual experience record and choice to lie like a rug about dodging bullets while dragging her beloved daughter into an active war zone--we saw that didn't really happen except in the fantasy mind of Mrs. Clinton. When she first uttered the words associated with the lie about dodging bullets, I wondered what responsible person, president or not, would send his wife and daughter anywhere it was too dangerous for him to travel? Crazy.

James, are you and Astroturf supporter?

Because you don't have your facts straight and just seem bent on muddying the waters with miss-information with no perspective.

Hillary is just as guilty of everything you just said Obama is guilty of, except for things that are pure fabrication, they voted the same on everything except he voted for; finance reform, and the energy bill that increased taxes on big oil, and helped green energy.

For example: it was national anthem not "Pledge of Allegiance" (for which you are only suppose to take off your hat, not put your hand on your chest).

Also if you believe that you are who you associate with you should search "Hillary Christian mafia" and see if you forgive her assosiations but not Obama's

She is the wrong choice because of these non hyped up reasons:
1) You are forced to buy Health care for yourself even if you can't afford it, Obama makes it cheep so you can afford it ... but doesn't make you buy it.
2) She takes Lobbyist money and doesn't feel guilty at all about it, saying "Lobbyists’ are people too". Obama refuses Lobbyist money.
3) She thinks changing the rules mid way through so she "wins" Florida and Michigan is ethical. Obama has encouraged a re-go and would welcome a new primary there.
4)She scared of disclosure, Obama has published his taxes and earmarks, we are still waiting for Hillary too.

Spread the TRUTH about Rev. Wright’s sermons not the edited and parsed sound bites of Fox News…These videos are in total about 20 minutes long. But please watch them and then you will see that there have been some egregious liberties taken with what has been broadcast.

Yeah, Hillary!!! Let's call Obama to task for listening to Wright for 20 years and apparently seeing nothing wrong with his sermons, Or did he just conveniently miss every controversial sermon preached in20 years?! I think not and he exposed his young children to there bigotted statements/ No wonder his wife also has such controversial remarks to make about her lack of pride in our country. I don't think these kind of people belong in the White House!!!!

James is a distressed Republican. *sheesh*

Hillary is absolutely right on this. I'd not stay in that church, either. It's hateful.

I am sick of Obama skating away from all scrutiny by either playing the race card or going all aggrieved. He would be a disaster in the general election.

OBAMA IS NOT ELECTABLE BY MAIN STREAM ELECTORATE, ONLY BY THE MEDIA

You sat there and just waited. Dammed if you Do and Dammed if you don't. Of course this minister would not be her's. She has guts and courage. Where is yours?????

Oh, that is right, you just got your check from the Barack Campaign.

How dare you find fault with that statement. You, obviously would have stayed in a Church where the minister said GOD DAM AMERICA. I have left churches for far less.

Hillarys comments about "He would not be my pastor",is exactly what any patriotic american would say.Thank God we have 2 presidential candidates that love our country.

It was a honest question
and a honest answer
I am a black african american man and i have been
going to my church for ten
years,i left one church because the minister continue to go way off of gods message so me and my family found another church.we come there to here the word of god not off message bull

I'm so sick of people trashing Clinton, cant the woman say anything without people twisting it around!

I'm sick of the media and Obama blaming everything on Hillary.

This is Obama paster. He chose his paster. It will always follow him like his shadow. He is responsible for his own action. Grow up!

If I was asked the same question "what would you do if Wright was my paster", I will say the same.

HE WOULDN"T BE MY PASTOR!. NOT IN A MILLION YEARS.

Sen. Clinton responded to a question that was fielded and I am glad that for once, she decided to respond to something most Amercans are bothered by.

It seems to me that many Americans who voted for Obma now have buyer's remorse. Clearly, it was Rev. Wright who said all the negative hate speeches against Americans. It was his hate speech tha has resulted in Obama's real face to be shown.

I too was suckered into being an Obama supporter and raised nearly $12,000 in Virginia. Now, I know better. Can you imagine having Rev. Wright at the White House giving sermons ... or sleeping in the Lincold bedroom?

Americans are tired of constant racial mongering by the Obama campain. I will never vote for Obama.

Iraq Vet

I doubt that at this point there's much that Obama can do or say to make up for the exposure of his poor lack of judgement in attending church sermons that preached racism and hate for 20 years. Obama admitted in his 3/18 speech that Wrights sentiments were regressive and divisive. How could a sensible community leader who claims to represent the interests of all americans attend and contribute to such socially divisive ceremony and teachings for such an extended period of time? There's no legitimate excuse.

James is right on and I agree with everything he's said. It's nice to see someone lay out the truth in a calm and righteous manner. Good job.

BO campaign grasping at straws... sound pretty desparate. Advice to them: You sh-t enough in yer own backyard, you'll soon be stepping in it. (ach! I am too late!)

I am proud to say that I have never voted for a Republican presidential candidate, but I believe I would have to vote for McCain if Obama is selected as the Democratic candidate. He is incredibly hypocritical. Positive campaign,,,,, think again.

The Rev. John Hagee used to be the Rev. Wayne Parks, and led a church in South Florida. The chances a reverend who had to change his name could become a liability for McCain? More than the McCain camp should be willing to bet against. Accepting an endorsement from someone who espouses such divisive and incendiary opinions doesn't seem like a wise move for a candidate who sells himself as a moderate within his party.

Senator Clinton answered a direct question honestly. Would you have preferred that she said she would sit still in a church that spews so much hatred? It is high past time to get past divisions of the 1960's and work on uniting the entire country, black, white, men, women, gay, straight, etc. Senator Obama needs to show some leadership on this problem if he wants to get elected. Senator Clinton already has, many times over.

OK, so Obama's campaign has been riddled with inconsistencies and he's based his campaign on promises with no substance. And that's good enough for you people? If he wins the nomination, then many Hillary supporters including myself, will support McCain. (An article said 25% of Hillary supports will support McCain, but I will work to make this number greater) So, if by some chance he does win the nomination, Hillary supporters will stand united to put McCain in office. We must do what's best for the United States, and putting a liar and an inexperienced fast-talker into office like Obama is not the right solution. Obama supporters, it's time for you to wake up. Voting for Obama because he is black and because you "don't like" Hillary are NOT good reasons.

Ummm....Clintonites, Hillary was asked the same question repeatedly ALL last week and she refused to comment. And now that she was caught BLATANTLY lying about her Bosnia adventure, she suddenly feels compelled to discuss her feelings behind the Wright controversy....LOL! WHATEVER! You people have the audacity to claim this LIAR with her 53% negative rating is more electable and ready on day one...LMAO! Hmmm, is that why she told her fairy tale a full two weeks after Sinbad called her on it? Poor little simpleton that she is will be defending her pastor comments for the rest of the week and next because her "on top of it" advisor did not warn her that her VERY OWN PASTOR is defending Wright's comment. Smack your forehead Hillary, you're about to have another Homer Simpson moment...what a moron this woman is!

And why are we still discussing this woman? She lost back in February. Senator Obama will service himself well if he treated her as irrelevant as she actually is.

I knew about Rev. wright months ago and was wondering how long it woukld take the media to pick up the story. Hillary has handled this great, she could not really respond... as any 'TYPICAL' white person knows, we cannot respond to anything without being called a racist! America will learn about true racism soon enough. Too bad Obama has messed this up for the dems.

Bashing women and discriminating, especially reverse discrimination is not attractive in the American public. So at all costs, Americans would rather have someone we know little of (especially his 8 step brothers and sisters), the criminal aspects of Rezko has yet to be finalized in court, lied to Am people re NFTA, whose church he supported honored Farakhan, who then honored his candidacy in kind, has no clue where Iraq is and has had no meetings for his foreign relations committee in Congress and admits he was running for prez already the whole time for the short time in Congress. Otherwise was not even a governor of a state and did local small precinct matters in IL - ???!!!!!!!! Get a grip! are you all that naiive and ignorant of the facts? OR are you so afraid of a woman as a Pres, that you would yet again prefer an incompetent man? The Dems have lost the General Election to someone who normally could easily lose on Rep side, but it will be SO easy to even try to "vet" Obama and show he is in not able to lead this country calling the majority of us "typical white folks". Excuse me?

Several years ago I felt very unhappy with the attitude of the priest at the Roman Catholic Church I attended. At that time I decided that I would find and attend a different Catholic Church in this area. When I did find another, I drove about twenty miles each way to the church I chose to attend. I'm sure that Senator Obama could have found another church in the Chicago area with a pastor who was truly working to promote the spiritual health of those attending his parish.

The news media just can't let Hillary answer a simple question without ripping her to shreds. This is getting old. Obama has lied about his Pastor and that is his problem. I have never been a church where was preached of any kind. If it had I would have left and not gone back. Most people don't tolerate that type of behavior from their Pastors. Do you job and report on the Church's doctrine.

I AM A WOMAN NOT A LIBERAL AND THE LIBERALS ARE THE ONES SUPPORTING OBAMA, HILLARY COULD NOT RESPOND WITH OUT BEING CALLED A B*&$! ANYMORE THAN WE CANNOT QUESTION WITHOUT BEING CALLED RACIST.

Hillary is 'damned if she does and damned if she don't! The media should be ashamed and for that matter so should the DNC (the whole world knows Howard Dean openly dislikes Hillary) for fomenting the ungodly negative publicity against her. I have been a Democrat for my lifetime and now I don't even want to vote and be a party to this mess! Give her a break! it appears that we have a group of male chauvinists running our party.

Hillary weighed in on the Wright issue and shouldn't she comment on this? You can bet this alone has nearly eliminated Obama's chance to win in November. Remember, he knee-capped himself with Wright by sitting in the pews for 20 years, etc. If Obama is identified as the nominee the Repulicans will immediately start their full scale assult on this issue and McCain will win in a landslide. Therefore, in my humble opinion, Hillary better do everything she can to get the nomination or, we the democrats, are doomed again in November. So MSM, if Sen. Obama isn't able to get our nomination because he continues to get an all but free pass, doesn't it behoove us all to find that out now, before it is too late? Or do some the good ole' boys in the MSM, RNC, and possibly the DNC fear a female as "Commander in Chief" so badly that your willing to concede the general election to anyone, as long as it's not Hillary? America really needs her. She is the best choice we have to restore our standing at home and abroad. I am far from alone in that opinion. Take a look at her position papers, plans, and solutions for America, then you decide. After that you will vote Hillary. I know I am. Thank you for considering America first. KY

Hillary wasn't denouncing Obama, she was merely answering a direct question about whether she would choose Rev. Wright as her pastor. She answered honestly, that she wouldn't. I wouldn't attend a chuch that preaches hatred of any kind from the pulpit and apparently neither would she. Most churches I've attended, black and white alike, have preached enlightenment, brotherhood and forgiveness. I always thought this was the fundamental backbone of Christianity. And one fundamental backbone of American democracy is freedom of religion. People who denounce hatred in all its forms have the right to choose NOT to attend a church where hatred is a regular part of the sermon. Freedom of Religion is not racist.

Barak Obama is right about one thing. WORDS MATTER and Pastor Wright's WORDS DO MATTER

This election is starting to remind me of two bratty kids- each one wanting to get in the LAST hit!
Then there's something that's even more painful to watch, and that's a grown man beating up on a woman.
In years past- I'd support the democratic party and could handle whoever the nominee is. It ain't gonna happen for millions of us come November if Hillary is NOT the nominee.
Barack, it doesn't bother us that you fight- but you fight so dirty. I don't mean to offend anyone voting for the man, but his "sucker punch" mentality lacks serious maturity and leaves much to be desired.
Your "CHANGE" has come full circle- turns out you're just more of the SAME.

MEANWHILE, BACK AT HILLARY'S RANCH...
The pastor at Hillary's church just got a prison sentence for the sexual assault of a 7 year-old child.

Look, even with the "vast right-wing conspiracy" Republican party (including my own cousin) switching their political affiliation to "Democrat" just for the PA primary, Hillary is (still) not going to get 64% of the inflated PA "Democratic" vote on April 22. The Clintons and their new buddies, Rush Limbaugh and Richard Mellon Scaife are not as all-powerful political manipulators as they think. Thus, the numbers still will not favor her. That is, unless she successfully STEALS Obama's existing delegates.

And, PLEASE BE HONEST: ONLY BILL AND HILLARY (and their surrogates) KEEP HYPING THE RACE ISSUE TO SCARE VOTERS. If you honestly followed his campaign, you know Obama did not ever want race to be an issue.

Oh, and BTW, the Rezko trial has been going on for four weeks. A number of political dignitaries have been named by the prosecution's star witness in the trial, but nothing - NOT ONE THING - has come up to put Obama anywhere near the alleged corruption. And, believe me, the courtroom is chock-full of reporters and political watchers from across the country grasping for anything - however small and insignificant - that might drag Obama into the case. So far, not even the smallest morsel for the press to blow up into a giant controversy. (This is why you are hearing so little about the case.)

No matter what Hillary says she is always cricticized, she was just answering the question. The democratic party is being destroyed by insisting in nominate far left candidates that always loose in the national elections. Obama is not electable, by choosing to associate himself with Wright he ruined his chances. How could you sit in a church for 20 years and listen to that garbage and not agree with it? Obama supporters wake up, McCain and the republicans will have a field day with come November.

Senator Clinton's own religious affiliation is suspect. She belongs to a Washington group called the Fellowship headed by Doug Coe, who has been called the "Stealth Billy Graham". The group is heavily weighted with Republicans (http://www.time.com/time/covers/1101050207/photoessay/4.html) and certainly suspect in terms of the conservatism it embraces.
...Anyway, it's probably just a case that Rev. Wright "misspoke" ! There's a lot of that around ! And while this may be a trivial example, have a look at the what the UK papers have to say about her Northern Ireland influence. Once more they are treating the US as a buffoon.
If Senator Clinton is nominated then we might as well change the Whithouse stationary to President McCain, and our standing overseas will sink into the swamp (pun intended) like our economy . Having started this race firmly in their corner, I am so terribly disappointed in the Clintons appalling behavior and belief that they are some how entitled to be dynastic.

Funny Obama now says he never heard of Wright's hate speeches...aparently he didnt read neither the awefull newsletter the church has nor the anti-semite articles in the website. Gross overview for a person who is wishes to be a president in a time of far.

I did not grow up priveledged. My mother was divorced, a young teacher with two kids to feed. She also taught Sunday school in our boring, predominately white methodist church. (Frankly I wish it has some of the firey passion that so many black churches have - ours was plagued with kids falling asleep in pew after pew). But when our long time minister retired and a new minister came in, who preached the core faith of our church but also many views with which my mother disagreed, my mother left the church once it became clear that his message was in conflict with her core beliefs. She didn't want to sanction his messages of intollerance and she didn't want my sister and I being influenced by this man. That is called integrity.

Obama did not live in a tiny town with only one church - he had options. He Chose Rev. Wright as his spiritual leader, stayed with him for 20 years, contributed money to him, elevated him to a position of responsibility in his campaign after he knew about some of the comments. This is not about a simple association, it is about his judgment and the huge contrast between his Rhetoric that he will be a uniter and his long history of supporting an extremely controversial priest who serves only one community and incites hatred and divisiveness.

Sure his anger is founded in a past that he lived through where White America was simply un-American in their treatment of the black population. But his anger and hatred has twisted his mind to the point that he listens to every conspiracy theory against the United States and worse spews that anacronistic hatred to thousands of impressionable black people week after week.

As for Clinton's timing - of course the timing had something to do with wanting to make sure the media was discussing the real issue of whether Obama would ever be a uniter - the cornerstone of his campaign - verses the details of how fast she moved from her plane to the waiting cars on one of her official trips. ALL Candidates do that. All the time. Obama has consistently done a better job of spinning like that this entire campaign. BUT there is nothing wrong with what Hillary said. She did not attack Obama. She painted a very legitimate contrast with the Senator from Illinois by simply, calmly saying how she would have reacted when faced with the same situation. Obama likes to argue that this campaign is about judgment but when Hillary says what her judgement would have dictated that she do in a given situation he decry's it as an attack? The only reason he thinks it is an attack is because his judgement was so incredibly, innexcusably poor on the subject and compares so poorly (yet again) to her superior judgement.

As a Christian I believe align myself with the theology and church that most resonates with my own. Having been in a situation where racisim was touted from the pulpit I chose to meet with the pastor of the church and tell him my reason for leaving and seeking a church more open to loving others as God loves us. When Hillary Clinton was asked personally about what she would have done if Rev. Wright had been her pastor she answered, not with political verbage, but as a Christian who knew what her heart would lead her to do. Our pastors are our leaders who help shape and form our views of what God calls us to be. Why criticize Senator Clinton for speaking from her own theological belief?

I agree with Hillary Clinton. She was asked a question and answered it.

Obama is unelectable. His foolish attempt again today to defend the indefensible Jeremiah Wright is a fatal mistake.

I ask you, what kind of man, what kind of father would subject his own part white children to the racist, anti-white, anti-American, anti-semitic, pro-Farakhaan, black supremecy, nation of islam supporter Jeremiah Wright in a "church"? Wright believes that the U.S. Govt "created AIDS to kill black people" and that we brought 9/11 on ourselves.

THIS is the man Obama calls his "mentor"? WHY?

Obama's new pastor Moss is no better. Check out his Easter "sermon" on youtube.
It's appalling.

Obama's negatives are rising with the Wright, Moss, Crown, Exelon and Rezko.

It's time for the Dems to rally behind Hillary Clinton, she's qualified and electable. She's also patriotic. Obama is destroying the Democratic party.

I think Hillary had every right to address the question about Wright since she has been dogged by the media for over a week about it. There is nothing wrong with her answer. The media has done everything to tear down this woman and she continues to hang tough. That's what we need is someone who is strong, intelligent, and have plans to get America back to prosperity and respectability. She is the leader America needs to accomplish this. I totally believe in her.

Clinton was asked to tell the press what she had been asked about Wright, and she answered, after many requests. I watched this Press Conference on CNN, stunned that they even showed it, since it wasn’t Obama, and she didn't "volunteer", she was asked. And asked. And asked. She never mentioned Obama. But she is more than entitled to answer. SHE is not the one with the hate monger for a pastor. HE is.

Q: How would you have responded if your pastor had said some of the things that Rev. Wright said?

A: He would not have been my pastor. You know you don't choose your family but you choose what church you want to attend.

And you know what? I AGREE WITH HER. MOST PEOPLE DO. SHE SPEAKS FOR ME.
I don't know anyone, black or white, who would sit still while their preacher said 9-11 was about "the chickens coming home to roost". I don't know anyone, black or white, who would sit there and listen to this racist say that the US gave drugs and AIDS to Blacks so they would die or go to jail. I don't know anyone, black or white, who would sit in church on December 25th, and watch their pastor act out a sexual act while saying that Hillary was doing to them what Bill did to Monica.

This is the place the Obamas' feel at home, the place they find "fellowship" at, the place they love, and the place they allow to teach their daughters.
Wright retired 6 weeks ago, not 6 years ago. Obama want us to believe that he didn't go to church on 9-11, or Christmas day, or any of the other days Wright spewed his hate.
I think he is a liar.
Obama sat in this church for 20 years, and if he had theological differences, I could understand his decision to stay.
But this man "preached" a doctrine of hate, of blaming WHITES for the personal decisions of BLACKS, namely accusing the government of giving drugs and AIDS to blacks to kill them.
If anyone wants to make a character argument, or a "liar" argument against Hillary, I think they better not, because Obama has several versions of his reasons for staying:

We have "never heard", "didn't know", wasn't there" and the best one: "GRANDMA".

This is topped off by my personal favorite: whites must understand the anger of blacks, and accept our sins of the past and present, and overlook this guy who says the "chickens came home to roost" on 9-11.
Well, let me say this about birds:
"Birds of a feather flock together".

Obama has "CHANGED" something for me. He's CHANGED my mind about ever voting for him.

GO HILLARY CLINTON!!!!!!

Senator Clinton gave her opinion. Rev. Wright would not be her pastor. Can't we leave it at that? And form opinions based on that fact? Sometimes it's about keeping it simple...susanclare

Senator Obama's problems with the Revered Wright are of his own making. Senator Clinton's comments were pretty mild, considering. I cannot even begin to imagine how people would have responded if a white candidate were found to have stayed in a church with a pastor who even occasionally made racist comments. It's a brave new world, this year, but it's not looking like a better one.

Exactly what I told my husband. "You are not able to choose your family because you are born in it; but you can sure choose your friends and pastor."

Great comeback, Hillary!

As are Hillary and Bill Clinton...with an estimated $60-million net-worth, James Carville and Mary Matalin are too members of the wealthy elites within the Democratic party. It would be irrelevant for either couple if Sen. McCain was victorious in November. The thought of a Bi-racial…White/African, contender succeeding after having had the “kitchen sink” tossed at him most be very sobering for Sen. Clinton and all her former operatives-as evidenced by their continued negativity and vitriol. All the while Sen. Obama has remained aloof and above the fray, yet always in control of both his campaign staffers and voter’s financial largess. If the management of her campaign can be taken as a clue, I dare say yet another Clinton Administration neither America nor the world-at-large can ill afford…particularly following the disastrous eight years of the Bush administration. It is baffling to see the voter's-those within Pennsylvania already the victims of the NAFTA agreement signed into law by Pres. Bill Clinton and cheered-on by Sen. Clinton at a mass rally. Yet, apparently those presently economically-depressed in a state whose industrial-base was wiped out by NAFTA, upon plants closing after shipping these jobs to foreign shores with cheaper labor cost-centers such as Mexico and China. Yet, apparently they yet cannot see through the facade of Hillary's candidacy. All of the old players of the Clinton administration are back, and they are bitter as hell that Sen. Obama' insurgent candidacy threatens greatly their chance of securing yet another presidency owed to the same corporate-lobbyists and special interests today financing both her and Sen. McCain’s candidacy. She loaned her campaign $9-million dollars, but there she was serving a customer in a cafe paying wages depressed by policies NAFTA has pared down...as well those of the middle class, or sitting within their modest living-rooms as though she was a member of the family. There's Bill Clinton on the back of a Pick-up truck imploring Latino' to support Hillary...when as her campaign manager this past weekend suggested: “Bill Richardson's endorsement would be of little interest at this point: "Hillary has already won Texas and California...thanks to her exploitation of Latino voters within these states. Perhaps I’m being facetious, but weren’t Sen. Obama and Sen. Kennedy the only to in congress most aggressively pushing for a fair immigration bill? James Carville…Bill Clinton former campaign manager, of course is “by his very nature” incensed...as are Bill and Hillary, because they sadly have convinced themselves that the American Presidency is an entitlement owed them-not one befitting the type of hard-fought and professional campaign being waged by Sen. Obama.
Do the working-class, women, and Latinos not see; can they not hear or discern the degree of negativity and race-baiting being perpetrated under the new Clinton/Bush/Cheney/McCain regime. With all due respect, with the wealth between her and her surrogates, wouldn't one rationally think that Barack and Michelle Obama-raising two small children and working middle-class themselves prior to the success of his first novel, would be more closely familiar-apathetic, with their present and future plights? Who’s running a truly presidential campaign...with integrity and honesty? Think for a moment without one becoming reminiscent are viewing this campaign through a racial-prism fostered by the Clinton campaign. People, the “1990’s” are past. And so is the Clinton mystic, after merely implying that either she or McCain are the most qualified for the presidency..."McCain being Republican nominee. Listening to Bill Clinton referencing… "Two candidates, who truly love America-as if Sen. Obama doesn't, make me physically ill. It was as if he had forget the circumstances surrounding his impeachment-hearing, Monica Lewinski, Jerry Fallwell’s Clinton Chronicles, are the Ken Star Special Counsel. Now, are we to once again fall victim to such pitfall of divisiveness, given that is how Bush conquered the White House in 2000 and 2004. And just look at the state of our nation today as a result of us-beyond the Supreme Court and Florida, not embracing yet another former insurgency presidency: "Al Gore?" Democratic voters are very careful what you ask for in November of 2008; you may get it. And if you truly have enjoyed the past eight years of George W. Bush, just wait for the next four...or eight!

Thank you Rev. Wright for showing me why I shouldn't vote for your follower. If Obama can't understand why the "typical white person" would be offended by the Rev. Wright's comments, then Obama does not deserve my vote. He does not deserve to serve as president of a country that his pastor so hates and that his wife only recently became proud of. Thank you Rev. Wright.

First of all Nancy Pelosi needs to hush up and stay out of this. Just
because she is the majority speaker does not give her the right to interfere with a Superdelegates decision. Who does she think she is God? Hillary is not
going anywhere and it is not up to anyone to tell her to quit. Why does anyone not ask Obama to quit? He is not going to reach the winning number of 2025 either! Please Media do not attempt to tell Hillary what to do! The only reason Obama is slightly ahead is because Florida and Michigan delegates are not being counted.

Second the student who asked Chelsea about her father's personal affairs crossed the line. He got from Chelsea what he deserved. Also, other people may fall for
his ignorant reasons that he gave for asking this stupid question. But I and
many other Hillary supporters do not. Furthermore, his excuse is not reasonable and makes no sense whatsoever. His question was if her mother's credibility had
been hurt during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. And how does Hillary's credibility have to with Bill's behavior? This is so absurd! Either he is an idiot supporter, mentally ill or Obama's undercover supporter!

I believe like many others that he was sent by Obama camp solely to embarass Chelsea, Bill and Hillary. A Hillary supporter would have not asked such a sensitive question! First of all it is none of our business!!

It is like asking Obama "do you think your mother was promiscuous for marrying twice and having children from two different men?"

Hillary Clinton's positive rating has dropped to a new low of 37 percent in an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released on Wednesday. John McCain has an open field and his approval ratings continue to climb. McCain's team is fresh and gearing up for the race to Nov. Barack and Hillary's campaign staffs are in danger of burning out before the general race even starts. The Democrat leaders have a choice to saddle up with Bill and Hillary and let this bloodbath continue or saddle up and take on McCain and his team as a unified Democrat Party. Hillary has a 5 percent chance of winning the Democrat Nomination, and according to her own pollster she has to go even more negative. We already see this happening. Is this war worth it? Vote Obama!

The Rev. Wright is Obama's problem. Anyone who sits in a church for 20 years and listens to racial, anti-American rhetoric has to believe as his minister/church believe. We don't need this man as President of the US

OK, I get it. Reagan Democrats and Bush Democrats and Wallace Democrats and even Dixiecrat Democrats wont vote for Obama. How dare anyone talk about US history like lynching, testing venereal diseases on black soldiers, and slavery. Let's just show them by voting for a man who wants US forces to remain in the Middle East for the next century. And this was not a war for oil? Now that we understand that political correctness is a right wing technique and that we are a war culture, that is pretty much all there is to know, right ?

Once again, only words. Obama gives a great speech and talks about his superior judgment, but exposing his two daughters to this kind of "hate America" talk is NOT good judgment. This only serves to perpetuate the hate and mistrust. Michelle Obama said America is a mean, mean place. Sounds like her pastor is reinforcing that thought with his vitriol for this country. Hillary is right to say she would reject that kind of pastor. I want a president who loves America.

If Hillary Clinton attended a church for 20 years that stood as white liberation theology, said that blacks infected whites with HIV and was supported by the US of A KKK, Obama and his campaign would be outraged. This alone would be enough to send her packing. For some reason, it is obviously a horrible thing that Hillary would speak out against Rev. Wright, though.

I agree with Hillary Clinton: We can choose our church but not our family. I am very hurt about the comments Pastor Wright made, and I really feel concerned that a potential American President is so closely associated to so many racist anti-american and anti-semitic people.

While I agree that the inflammatory comments by Rev. Wright are divisive, the question is what is the essence of Black Liberation Theology? Why does this theology resonate with Senator Obama?

McCain would be an utter economic disaster for the USA. That is why if Obama gets the nomination I am voting for NADER. I urge all my fellow Hillary supporters to do the same, Obama has shamelessly slandered Hillary to no end, he does not deserve our support. Vote Nader/Gonzales if Hillary is not the Democratic nominee, Nader is a great second choice.

Edwards was my first candidate, then he lost my vote when he ganged up with Obama on Clinton after Iowa. Obama will never have my vote because he played the race card after New Hampshire, saying Clinton wouldn't cry for the Katrina victims (so she's a racist), or claimed Martin Luther King didn't singlehandedly institute civil rights (despite her only mentioning the historically accurate fact that it was LBJ who strong-armed Civil Rights into law). I will never vote for the race baiter Obama. And race with his Rev. Wrong will drown him under the swiftboats in Nov. I, HF, he's given the nod.

"I'm so sick of people trashing Clinton, cant the woman say anything without people twisting it around!"

The problem is, that she rarely says anything truthful.

We in New York have come to expect less and less of her...

Hillary answered with grace and poise - after all no matter how the media tries to spin this one - Wright is Obama's mistake not Hillary's.

The media and the good ole boys network in the DNC (I lost all respect for Howard Dean and Ted Kennedy in this race) want to drive Hillary out of this race asap because the longer Democrats have to "get to know" the real Obama - the more likely voters are to see the disconnect between Obama's rhetoric of unity and his real-world racist views.

having a relationship with Wright and Farrakan speaks to Obama's extremist views - why else would he follow these anti-white, anti-women, anti-jewish, anti-gay, anti-American guys? For so many years??

Obama, on top of having no experience, severely lacks good judgment - his wife's comments and his actions show an arrogance towards whites, and towards America.

he is not fit to be our nominee much less our president.

Supporting Hillary and helping her win the nomination is the only hope democrats have of winning the general election in November and backing Democratic values.

C'mon America - wake up and support the best qualified person.

Be tough Hillary - we have fought this fight before, the qualified woman versus the established media and the good ole boy network ... hang tough you'll continue to break barriers for all women (of all colors) as you have been doing for the past 20 years.

Hillary '08

Governor Richardson is a traitor to his constituents, to his Latino roots and a liar.

In Feb. he stated that super delegates should support the person their constituents voted for - I disagreed but he is allowed his opinion.
Hillary won in New Mexico - narrow margin but she won. She also is supported by a large percentage of the Latino voters.

So does Richardson endorse Hillary as his comments would have you believe??

No - he endorsed Obama.

Sadder than his being a liar was his silly reason why ... "because I consider the West not just New Mexico to be my constituents, and Obama did well in the West."

Someone please break the news to him that Hillary won the largest western state - California.

Richardson sold out his constituents, his integrity, his people - for what? His own self-interest ... maybe a shot at being vice president - since Mr. Unity has yet to capture the Latino vote.

After all Bill Clinton did for his career - and after all Hillary has done for people of all colors, especially Latinos. How cheap of him.

Carville is right - Richardson is a sell out and a traitor.

And now he has the audacity to say Hillary should bow out for the sake of the party?

For the sake of the party - Democratic men like Al Gore, Richardson, Ted Kennedy, Howard Dean should grow some balls and stop perpetrating the good ole boy network and get behind the only qualified viable candidate we have - Hillary!

The only one that can win in November.

Could the persons reporting Hillary Clinton comments concerning Rev Wright saying “he would not have been her pastor ” would please stop putting off their personal believes onto Hillary? Let's say that all involved were all black or white or green for that matter. Now does her answer sound racial. NO! So it's not Hillary talking about race, the reporters are listening through their own race-based beliefs.

Or even worse would be that these reporters are looking for a hot, combative issue. After not taking part in the debate concerning Obama’s pastor, Hillary finally makes one comment and the press made it a racial response that way they had something "interesting" to write.

Please stop making up issues. We have enough real problems out there that the reporters should not have time to play these political games. This is a lazy way of doing their jobs. It's like when they take a press release from a campaign and report it as news. Lazy!!

We, the public, will be interested in the truth, the real problems and what the candidate’s solutions to these real problems. Try it. It may take us a while to get used to real reporting that we can trust but, once we believe, we will respond!

OBAMA lied about his association with Wright-first claiming he had never heard any of his controversial statements. Anyone taking a look at Wright can see those statements were not isolated events, Obama has a 20 year association with the guy--including tithing 15% of his annual income (more than $25K) to Wright's church.

OBAMA IS DONE.

There is no way he can make it in the general election. Wright, now MEEKS (another pastor, hater & good pal of Obama's) demonstrate that Obama's claim to heal racial divisions--is another example of "Just Words"

The media haven't even covered his campaigning for his first cousin Raila ODINGA (Co-President of KENYA) whose supporters torched a church full of 100 Christian women & children--burning them to death. US Envoy Jendayi Frazer described the efforts by Odinga and his followers as "clear ethnic cleansing" Nice guy.

ODINGA was set up in the oil business by Muammar Quaddafi (no, really), educated in communist East Germany (not kidding) and named his eldest kid, FIDEL (after, yes, it's true-Castro). Of course, that may not be as hard to explain as the fact that Odinga signed a MOU with the Islamic fundamentalists promising to impose Islamic law in Kenya thereby enslaving millions of Kenyan women.
OBAMA CAMPAIGNED FOR ODINGA ("your agent for Change") IN AUGUST 2006--Odinga's opponents called Obama his "stooge"
