Geraldine Ferraro got a chance tonight to respond to the furor she has raised with her published comments about Barack Obama -- suggesting that he wouldn't be where he is with his campaign today if he were a white man or a woman of any color.

On FOX News Channel's America’s Election HQ, Martha MacCallum asked Ferraro: "You’re getting a lot of heat for this comment. You want to put it in context for us?''

"First of all left me say I’m sorry people thought it was racist,'' Ferraro said. "But part of the problem is, and I’m a person really who has fought discrimination for 40 years, so I am absolutely offended by the emails, the phone calls and all the threats I have been getting. It’s really terrible and it’s come out of the Obama campaign.

Obama campaign manager "David Axelrod who knows me better, should not have gotten this whole campaign going,'' she said. "All they had to do was take a look at what I actually said and what I actually said before I made that comment and that was in response to a question at a paid speech, I was not representing Hillary, I’d been in Michigan, the night before, two nights before with Bill Kristol arguing presidential politics.

"I get paid for doing that, no connection with the campaign,'' Ferraro said. "I got up and the question was asked 'Why do you think Barack Obama is in the place he is today? with all these candidates, with all these delegates and stuff. And I said in large part because he is black.

"Before that in 1984, and I’ve said this, if I’ve said it once I’ve said it 20, 30, 50, 100 times since the '84 campaign,'' she said. "If in 1984 my name was Gerard Ferraro instead of Geraldine Ferraro, I would never have been the nominee for VP.”

Obama today called Ferraro's remarks "divisive,'' and Clinton disavowed them. See the Swamp's report on Obama reaction to Ferraro, with Clinton's response. See the initital Swamp report on Ferraro's comments..

Fighting racism, as she claims to have done for the past 40 years, doesn't give her a free pass to be a racist or make her remarks immune from criticism. Obama was correct in calling Ferraro's remarks "divisive,'' and it was right for Clinton to disavowed them.

Thought you'd enjoy this, from Americablog this morning. Funny, but with a lingering harshness I enjoyed.

Clinton needs to cut out that race crap.

She has SNL, I guess it was inevitable other sketch comedy troupes would rise in support of Obama. He's hope incarnate, you know.

OK Kiddies.

This is NOT what a primary election is supposed to be about. It's not a bare knuckled horse race, a name calling contest, a dirty tricks op, a scorched earth win at any cost campaign.

A primary campaign is supposed to be about policy. The small minutia of health care and road building. It's supposed to be boring. It's a chance for the candies to lay out their actual positions among their own party.

This is the end of the world as we know it. Have our own leaders have lost their minds. We, as the little dollar bills, have to correct......NOW! (Shouting, not emphasis.)

Everybody right this instant; Stop criticizing Bama or Hills unless it is a policy critique.

THE SADDEST STORY EVER TOLD

When a white girl marries a negro,
her sun of life goes down.
And glaring spots of sin
appear on her white wedding gown.

And white and black men stand aghast,
while viewing this range role:
And mutter, "they will wreck themselves,
and damn each other's soul."

We know a carnivorous bug
has crept into her brain
And gnawed away here self-respect,
which left her half insane.

Now all her racial pride has flown
beyond redemption's fold
And she begins life's saddest tale
that ever yet was told.

Three days and nights she felt black lips
press smug against her own.
And on the fourth, her troubled soul,
let out a frightful groan.

And so the weeks and months flew by,
and then a baby came;
She looked at it with tear filled eyes,
and hung her head with shame.

And then she dreamed of other days,
sweet girlhood days gone by,
And of the white friends left behind,
and so we hear her cry;

"O, could I turn life's pendulum
backwards a few short years
I would not bear this cross today,
nor shed these bitter tears."

"My baby would be white as snow,
and sleep upon my breast
Like a little fledgling robin
that slumbers in its nest.

While now, O God, my mongrel child
just whimpers through the night
Till in my sleepless dreams I scream,
not white, O God, not white!"

And so I stagger through my days
far from God's love and grace,
Till now, I know, no black man lives,
can take a white man's place.

My offspring shall be mongrel bred,
their hue-skin shall remain,
For even God with all his power,
cannot remove the stain.

I sold my birthright for a mess,
I mixed my white-born blood
With black blood, so I languish here
like one bogged down in mud.

Though God may grant a pardon,
I never can retrace
My footsteps down life's narrow road,
back to the white man's race.

So now I groan, "It might have been,"
had racial pride been mine.
Today I'd hug a pure white child,
and call him half divine.

I'd lift him up before the world,
and praise his father's name,
While now, my baby's mongrel face,
reminds me of my shame.

All other crimes may be forgiven
when prayer its power fulfills;
The scheming crook may find new hope,
and even the man that kills,

But all my prayers can never clear
my baby's mongrel skin,
Nor make him white as driven snow,
nor cleanse my soul of sin.

I was my father's future hope,
my mother's joy and pride
But I got lost on life's dark road,
and there my spirit died.

I smeared my all-white heritage
and left the white man's track,
Now my descendants for all time
shall be forever black.

I try to hide from all the stars,
the moon and the setting sun;
For all mankind of my white race,
condemn what I have done;

I tremble and my teardrops flow,
I pray, but pray in vain;
For nevermore shall I be
one with my white race again.

And so dark clouds above me roll,
deep waters crash below,
I sink, and reap what I have sown,
and drink my cup of woe.

My mother sleeps deep in her grave,
my dad lies at her side,
For both were crushed when I became
a negro's common bride.

Now, should I decide to leave him,
where could I choose to go?
My misspent life will follow me
like footprints in the snow.

Before me lie dark jungles
where paramours seek a prey:
Behind me death keeps whispering,
"I am the only way."

This black and white, prenuptial mess,
this racial suicide;
Must be forbidden by the law,
men must find racial pride!

Then, never again, forever,
shall tales like mine unfold,
With all its shame, the saddest tale,
that ever yet was told.
--Ferraro

Ferraro with this statement, has not removed herself or reduced the harm. She is trying to spin it in her favor, thus dragging the whole thing out. Mistake mistake mistake.

She needs to say, 'I was wrong, I apologize, the get the hell out of sight.

Bama and Hills supporters. Start attacking McCain and the Republics.

To paraphrase Reagan.
'The 11th Commandment; No Dem should attack another Dem!'

Why is it that anyone who says anything negative about Obama is called a racist? I think her comment is accurate. No white man with Obama's experience would be a serious contender for president.

I don't understand why we can't and aren't talking about this. Why is race or gender taboo? Is this some unmentioned secret? What about freedom of speech. Come on people, there's a big freakin pink elephant in the room.

I mean, these people are going for the highest position in this great land and yes...he is black (shhhhh) and she is a woman (good, God no}.

I don't think what Ms Ferraro said is racist. It's fact that he is indeed getting an extreme majority of the black vote.

Let's face it, if Hillary was getting 86-90% of the white vote or the women's vote, what would the other side be saying? Let's ask them. Why isn't anyone asking them? Because we all know the answer. But only white people can be racist, isn't that true?

I hear on the news that this means all the blacks around the country will not vote for Hillary now. Why not? Are they ashamed? Insulted by the comment Ms Ferrarro made and ashamed to admit they voted for a black man? Are they ashamed they didn't vote for him for the right reasons? Are they ashamed to admit that some of them actually voted for him because they want to see a black man as President. If not, what then?

Tell us, please.

Criticize Saint Barack, and his minions will cry "Racism!"

Not that Obama's minions (such as smear-artist David Axelrod) seriously believe Ferraro is "racist". It's what Obama-lovers do the intimidate critics, even against credentialed Liberals such as Geraldine Ferraro.

Bad news Clinton Supports!!!!!!! Rumor has it Bill Clinton was a client at the Emperors Club. Details should be coming out in about 2-3 weeks.

Obama is our Savior. We should be ashamed, Texas, Rode Island, Ohio arrogantly voted for clinton. Michelle is not proud of america now. Obama will change an evil america and treaty with our muslim brothers and apologize for an arrogant america. Obama fights against oppressive racist america and gives us and Michelle something to be proud about.

It's true. If he were white he never would even be running and he certainly would not be getting 80 percent of the black vote either. Why is everyone so afraid of the truth?

I am voting for Barack Obama because he is a PERSON whom I believe can inspire and motivate people to become involved in thier country, and because I believe he gives PEOPLE a feeling of empowerment - that our voices matter, and that they will be heard. As has always been the case when any historic change has been made in this country, things happen when PEOPLE put pressure on Congress. That's my bottom line, and I don't care what color, gender or age the PERSON is who possesses the rare and elusive quality that energizes the PEOPLE. Geraldine is stuck in the 80's. I believe our Nation's PEOPLE have progressed since then. If it matters to Geraldine, I am a white, 44 year old woman from Utah.

I agree totally with Ms. Ferraro.

Just do the math, remove just half the black vote and he would be out.

Everytime anyone says something they are called Racist and that just keeps racism going since people don't like not being able to say anything. Had he got more experience and ran 8 years from now I would have voted for him, now I never will.

Well she's right! The media has handled Obama with kid gloves for this entire campaign for fear of being labeled as picking on the black candidate (Chris Mathews, any chills up that old leg today?). Clinton gets hammered cause beating up on an old lady like her doesn't generate nearly as much public approbrium as daring to play hardball with the dreamy black candidate.

He's milking that, er, udder, for all its worth.

When +80% of blacks vote lockstep for Obama when most questioned on television can't name one single policy platform or accomplishment of their chosen candidate, yeah it strikes most people as a pure race based vote. And the polls have actually supported that. They call it "race pride."

I call it reverse racism.

This lady is way out of line. Clinton must fire her; no more double standards as usual from Clinton! FIRE HER!

Geraldine Ferarro is making the point that the media and public in general are hyper-aware of racism and deaf, dumb and blind to sexism.

Case in point: Can you imagine if someone in the audience at an Obama speech had held up a sign (as was done to Hillary Clinton - iron my shirts) that said "shine my shoes". Or if people were wearing vulgar and derogatory t-shirts about Obama that spoke to his race as they do against Hillary Clinton based on her gender. The world would be outraged and rightfully so.

But when it is done against women it is just accepted and expected. That's the reality she was referring to.
The reality should be that people would be just as outraged at the blatant sexism that is leveled against Hillary Clinton.

Once again, the She-Weasel is using surrogates to project targeted hate.
Ferraro's scripted comments are targeted to the white underclass (like her disbarred trailer trash semi-spouse)who resent the success of any black or mixed race individual.
Just like the comments made by Bill which put Obama on the same mule with Jesse Jackson, the Clinton Campaign is counting on racial divides to attempt to salvage the She-Weasel's dream.
Next, the She-Weasel will probably have Rosie O'Donell complain that Sen. and Mrs. Obama are too skinny and too straight!
Release your tax returns and White House Logs Shrillary! That should focus America's disgust right back on you instead of on your Flying Monkey toadie shiils like Ferraro.

Do you realize that Bill Clinton, too, got over 80% of the Black vote? As well as Hillary in her senatorial campaign?

Obama cannot have both ways and people should not have to deal with being called racist when they just speak the truth.

Obama uses the race card to press black superdelegates to vote or switch votes because "you don't want to stand in the way of your brother black man...'...It is actually the Blacks who make this election becoming a race issue because Obama gets 80% of the Black votes. While the rest of the country don't necessary vote as a block; both he and Hillary have to fight for every single other blocks, inclucing latinos. But 80% Blacks stand behind Obama as a block.

The press should report this story as it is and don't use the term to label people racist unfairly. It is Obama and the 80% black votes who are racists.

Comments made by supporters of one can and will be used by the other. Folks that pay attention to stupid remarks, no matter how accurate, only shows them to be a little more stupid than the one making the remarks.

These comments are unacceptable as a white male i am sick of comments like this coming from Hillary Clinton's surrogates. They have been making them all through the campaign. No wonder blacks hate us so damn much. I wish we could just come together.

I am perplexed by this debate for a myriad of reason. First and foremeost, the Obama campaign did not call Ferraro a racist it called her divisive. Do I think she is a racist, no but her comments were indeed divisive. I disagree that Barack Obama has only gotten this far because he is black. Other Black people have ran for many a public office and that has not changed that fact that Blacks are grossly underepresented in American politics. Thusly, there has got to be a bit more to his campaign than just being Black. Secondly, I do not believe that MOST voters know the policy histories of candidates so let's not start the same type of grandfather clause practices that kept southern Blacks from voting in the 60's. For the first time ever my mother is interested in politics. And while she does not know the policy history of Obama or Clinton she did watch several debates and she is reading articles and following these candidates campaigns. How dare we imply that there is something wrong with people who never voted before choosing to be involved in the political process because finally it feels like something that could matter to them. If Black's are voting because they believe that there may finally be a candidate the speaks to their needs simply based on having shared the experience of living in this racist oppressive society then God Bless THEM.

I am really enjoying the self-destruction of the Democrat party. The longer the contest goes on, the more we will see the Democrats' racist tendencies come out. The only thing left is for Clinton to steal the nomination.

The Democrats want to help the blacks, but only if they know their place.

She's right.

I don't see how her comments are racist.

If anything, she is pointing out the left's obsession with race and gender. It's no secret that many Obama supporter are trying to asuage some inner white liberal guilt by voting for him. Some have come right out and said it.

If Obama were all white, he'd be John Edwards with 23% of the vote.

No more, no less.

It's funny to sit on the sidelines and watch the left, who tries soooo hard to show how (supposedly) inclusive and righteous they are stumble over their own in-securities over race and gender.

It's amusing and pathetic at the same time.

Liberals have created their twisted, media fuled/pop culture supported PC bed, so now they must lie in it.

Someone could get a Phd explaining it all.

It was a stupid remark that resulted from vacuous reasoning that appeals to an inflexible mindset.
Ferarro is like Clinton. Clinton is duplicitous. Oh dear I'm being redundant.

This isn't rocket science.

Ferraro ran explicitly as a 'woman candidate'. She was as qualified as anyone else in contention, but as she said, 'Gerald' Ferraro wouldn't have gotten the job.

Obama has NOT run as a 'black candidate'. That's why it doesn't make sense to bring up his race. It's not that it's racist (imo), it's that it's stupid because it's missing the whole point.

Has anyone not noticed Obama's supporters are male and female, all ages, all skin colors?

Look at the Clinton supporters, notice their names on their blog posts and letters - female, and mostly 'of a certain age'. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, just that THIS IS NOT WHAT AMERICA LOOKS LIKE. Clinton has a fairly small base. Not one large enough to govern successfully from.

Choose wisely.

Mississippi Voters: Exit polls now indicate the following -- 23% of white voters said race was important in their choices of candidate. 40% of blacks said it was important to their choice.

Ferraro was just calling things as they are, pure and simple. The woman sadly is battling terminal cancer and she probably doesnt care about any backlash. Simply, Obama is winning the larger, predominantly black states because he is black and they want a black man to win. Don't like it? Yell at the black voters who are actively doing so.

"Why is it that anyone who says anything negative about Obama is called a racist?"

This is a straw dog argument. There are many negative attacks on Obama that have not been called racist. But what Ferraro said was racist, plain and simple. She (and you) just may not realize it, that's all.

"I think her comment is accurate. No white man with Obama's experience would be a serious contender for president."

That's the problem. You can't see beyond color. You can't see the many attributes that others see in Obama because you only see that he is black.

I would have voted for Hillary had she not been a \ divisive, polarizing candidate who hadn't voted to invade Iraq. Nothing to do with Obama's color. His color has not helped him. If anything it has been a cause for hesitation and doubt for many voters. Even blacks were not backing him at first.

So I dismiss that thinking out of hand. But yet again, some dummy has to bring race into the mix.

You have to admire the political skills of the Clintons. They get all of us to waste time spinning our wheels on nonsense. Though she is behind in the pledged delegate count, she attempts to marginalize the winner by offering him a chance to be vice president. Cute.

Perhaps the winner should offer her a post as Secretary of State. Wait. Can't do that because she has already admitted that she has no "specific examples" of her ever responding to a "3 a.m. phone call."

Also, precisely what other experience can she selectively take from Bill? Does she get credit for producing documents related to the myriad number of special investigations AFTER the statutes of limitation expired? Was she the chief architect of the impeachment strategy -- lie until enough clueless people think you are telling the truth.

The only people Hillary Clinton can unite are Republicans and tired "comedians" of Saturday Night Live who need fodder for the next 4 years.

Great job, Hill!

Good luck with that John Kerry redux strategy.

The racist know-nothing GERALDINE FERRARO-ZACCARO(whatever 'alias' she employs these days far removed from her family's 'rip-off' of parking meters in QUEENS NY and other sordid illegal ventures!) and 'FAST EDDIE RENDEL are already programming the voting booths/machines to assure HILLARY a victory in 'RACIST-DEMBHOLE PENNSTLVANIA'!!! GOOD DEMNHOLE POLITICOS DON'TCHA KNOW. These are the kind of 'swine' like E-L-I-O-T SPITZER that infest the DEMBHOLE PARTY!!!

I hope the voters of Pa aren't dumb enough to fall for Hillary's desperate racist schtick, she's pathetic, she's acting more and more like the slimeball REPUBLICANS act every single day.

Ferraro is wrong.
Obama isn't a "black" candidate at all. He really doesn't fit into the "black" or "white" box, or into any boxes. People are not voting for him to "assuage" any "liberal guilt", but because (like, duh) they actually like the guy!

As for Ferraro, I detect a note of bitterness that she didn't get any further in her political career.

Sorry for sounding racist and dumb. Mr Obamas appeal has more to do with his intellect and ideas. Geraldine is out of touch. I must say I enjoyed watching her defence of Hillary be ripped to shreds by Bill Bradley a week or so ago. She crumbled under the weight of her own Hillary is ready at day one assertion. Bill Bradley stated the obvious. What foreign policy crisis has she ever had to respond to. Tea and cokies with foreign dignitaries???

Disgusting comment not least of all because it is a complete falsehood. When I was studying in the US nearly five years ago, Obama was the name on everyone's lips. People KNEW he would go far. Whereas the only reason Hillary is getting to run is that she is the wife of Bill Clinton - so it's a highly ironic statement for her camp to make! Basically, Obama is the fly in Hillary's ointment and she is mad as hell and will resort to ANYTHING to win.

When Ferraro ran for VP she was very sensitive about being singled out for scrutiny because of her Italian ancestry, especially when it came to an investigation of her campaign finances.

Funny, Hillary still hasn't released her financial statement has she?

Is it because he is black that Mr. Obama has no trouble raising millions over the internet and can be transparent about his finances?

No, it is because he is a true leader.

Is it because there is indeed a latent racism in the Clinton campaign that Mrs. Clinton cannot only officially disavow and reudiate Mrs. Ferraro's commence but also distance herself from Mrs. Ferraro completely?

Perhaps.

Ferraro is a racist.

What Ferraro said was not racist, just factual. Obamanites shoud stop looking for racism because one doesn't suck up to Obama. He should stop the whine. Develop a spine.

Barack Obama is the Diana Ross of politics -- all polish and no substance. Now only if only he and his supporters would take the silliness and ''Stop! In The Name of Love!'' He''s made it this far on white liberal guilt and blind votes by the African American community. How else do you explain 90 -10 votes splits in his favor among blacks? No racial group (whites included) have expressed such blatant race bias. Ferraro merely stated the obvious and now it''s time to get back to reality. Hillary or McCain '08.

I don't think Ferraro's remarks were racist as much as they were ignorant.

What people like Ferraro (and "Dean") fail to grasp is how difficult it has been for blacks to reach the heights of governorships and the U.S. Senate throughout American history.

"Dean" has posted that IL has elected 2 black U.S. Senators in the past 16 years.

But look at the circumstances that had to exist.

In Carol Mosely-Braun's case, Alan Dixon had to practically piss on women by voting to confirm Clarence Thomas. Then the Republicans ran a no-name against Braun and she waltzed in as a woman who happened to be black. She was gone after one term - although that had more to do with her lack of abilities than anything else.

Obama's main Democratic rival was accused of beating his wife, as was his original Republican rival. Then the Republican's adopted a black man (Alan Keyes) from MD.

The whites in IL practically had no choice but to vote for the Braun and Obama candidacies.

Those kind of political miracles don't happen every day.

That's the hurdle Ferraro fails to grasp.

So when she says if Obama were a white man he wouldn't be were he is, she completely fails to realize that if Obama's name were, well, Ferraro and he had the educational pedigree he has, he might already have served three terms as US Senator.

Heck, he might have already be in his second term as Governor.

So to Geraldine Ferraro and all of you other dopes out there, learn your American history and then come and talk about "qualifications" to be president.

Don't even get me started about GW's qualification or Dan Quayles or Hillary "My husband was governor and president" Clinton.

Disgusting. Just disgusting. Ferraro is a mentally sick woman.

If she wants to say in neutral, matter-of-fact terms that people vote along racial or gender lines, that's one thing.

However, she wasn't speaking as a sociologist. She wasn't studying interesting voting patterns for a polling group. She was speaking as a prominent Clinton supporter and she spoke like a sore, bitter, pathetic loser. Clearly, she was angry that Hillary's prospects of becoming the first female president are being steadily destroyed by Obama brilliant campaign. Perhaps she's also still angry that she lost in 1984.

Ferraro spoke with a clear tone of resentment. She was expressing bitterness. That bitterness, which focused on Obama's race (Hillary expresses her bitterness by focusing on Obama's oratory) is extremely telling. It's what people often do when they're angry: they take it out on race.

Ferraro got angry. She needed to blame someone or something. She chose to focus on race. It was her way of venting. She attributed Obama's success to his race -- not his intelligence, not his opposition to the war on Iraq, not his substantive policy positions, not his ability to communicate with Americans of diverse backgrounds, but simply because he's black. That and she implied that black voters only support Obama because he's black. What does that imply about black voters?

If she were speaking as a sociologist, she would have absolutely no need to appear on FOX news and defend herself. She would have no need to criticize the Obama campaign. She would have no need to warn Obama not to "antagonize" her. That she was so defiant in the face of simple, honest questioning is only a confirmation of her guilt.

The woman is a sick, corrupt, degenerate, lying, morally debauched politician -- and an extremely ugly one at that.

I don't know why some people think it's not racist. Saying that his accomplishments or position in this race is based on being black is racist, because it diminishes other features about him, such as "the content of his character". I am not saying people can't be racist, after all it's a free country, but just call it what it is, and admit this is Hillary's platform.

Because Clinton decided not to ask Ferraro to leave her campaign, the Obama campaign should reinstate Stephanie Power

Well, if Ferraro is battling cancer, perhaps she needs to focus on her health and not criss-cross the country making a fool out of herself.

Geraldine Ferraro, like many of her illk, including Gloria Steinem, Fae Waddleton, are not fools. They fully understand the undercurrent some of their comments raise and I believe it is all INTENTIONAL. And I believe Hillary is playing the race card so deftly because it's "death by a thousand cuts." If she can subliminally get white voters to realize that they are, in fact, opening supporting a black candidate, they will "come to their senses" and vote for her.

Only a fool would think this stuff is unintentional. Hillary and Bill have been riding the wave of support from African-Americans for over 2 decades and when Hillary suddenly and unexpectedly found herself losing to Barack, she decided that all of that good will, all of that "holding of hands" w/ Black America hasn't gained her much, so she's throwing that so-called good will-- and the African-American constituency-- under the bus.

Being thrown under the bus is generally expected from Republicans and conservatives; in fact, they typically just run the African-Americans OVER with the bus, but coming from the Clintons, it's astonishing! Hillary and Bill created a public persona for two decades in the Black community that they "felt the pain" of the community; that they cared deeply for the African-American plight. But it was all a LIE. They have been hatching their plans for "his and hers Presidencies" since 1979. Bill admits this. But African-Americans were hood-winked into thinking that for all those years, the Clintons were on their side. Now they see they were actually be played; played like a strativarius by the Clintons. African-Americans were simple pawns in their chess match toward his and her Presidencies. So the Vernon Jordans, Bob Johnsons, Maxine Waters, Charlie Rangels and other village idiots are now in a conundrum because they don't want to admit they were played, and are still afraid to come out against the Clintons. This culture or current of racism running through the Clinton campaign, starting w/ the MLK statements, then the Jesse Jackson statements, then the "he's not a Muslim, as far as I know" statements, now Ferraro's statements, and several others, have gone without being "checked" by the Clintons, which only confirms what we already know.. .

Hillary's motto is "I will say and do anything to get elected", but more importantly, "what've I've been saying all these years to the black community was all a ruse -- the moment you chose HIM over ME!"

Geraldine Ferraro is right, this campaign is about race. In Mississippi, 92% of blacks voted for Obama and 74% of whites voted for Hillary.

Wonder how the remaining states will vote??

Disgusting comment not least of all because it is a complete falsehood. When I was studying in the US nearly five years ago, Obama was the name on everyone's lips. People KNEW he would go far. All to true Marie.

"There are people in the party who are very concerned about this turning into some kind of a Bataan Death March."

David Axelrod

The Bataan Death March continues!!!

It's a ploy by the Clinton campaign. By using the race card they can capture Pennsylvania by daring Obama to challenge the racist remarks for Geraldine Ferraro. It's an amazing turn of events. After Ferraro's comments with a Clinton nod, it is likely blacks with stay home in November if Clinton is the nominee and McCain will be president in January 09.

Obama and his rabid anti Democrat supporters are the racists. 90% black voters voting for the black man, yeah sure, not at all racist.

Come on . . . an Affirmative Action candidate? If I'm not correct, aren't women also part of affirmative action? But forget that . . . If I don't remember correctly isn't Obama also white? I feel it’s a hateful comment because it completely dismisses his Grandparents and his strong mother who raised him? I mean, if you can remember his grandfather was a Muslim you should also remember that his Grandfather helped rid the world of fascism in Europe. He is more than one race, so he is not a ‘Black’ candidate. If that isn’t the one drop law or what???

As for qualifications; didn't Obama do better in law school at Harvard than Clinton at Yale? As a law student, I know the people on the review are the cream of the crop picked exclusively by grades and ability; no affirmative action there. He was the First Black President there out of merit. What did Clinton do in law school?

He grew up poor and pulled himself up from his bootstraps. He worked in local government and understands how Federal programs and unfounded mandates affect local governments; she has only been a Federal official. Talk about states rights.

She was privileged as a child calling Pennsylvania her home because she vacationed there? I wonder how many people are vacationing in Pennsylvania? She has no local government experience. She was elected a Senator after only being a First Wife in some capacity and pushed all the qualified Democratic Candidates for Senate because she was Hillary. Is that not Affirmative Action what is?

He built his reputation form the bottom up. He first was a local organizer and then was elected to State Government and finally to the Senate. I don’t know about you, but I’ve met a State Senator; I’ve never met a Senator, Governor’s Wife; or the First lady.

He is the only one of the two here because of merit and its time he tells them that.

It's one thing to criticize a candidate's views, policies, and voting record. It's quite another to bring race into the discussion and claim it's a factual observation rather than whining about how your favorite candidate has it so hard and the other has it so easy. Ferraro: grow up. Being President of the United States is not about whining whether the game is fair or not.

Hillary would never be where she is now, were it not for riding the coattails of her husband. She has less than 8 yrs elected experience - less than Senator Obama. And she has a lot more dirty laundry. She is using her stay in the Whitehouse (courtesy of her husband - she was not elected) and calls that experience -- she was First Lady for heaven's sakes. And decorated the Christmas tree in the Blue Room with winged penises and roach clips. Now that's class. Real presidential experience. Give me a break.

Enough already! Obama seems to cry racist everytime he wants to get out of a tight situation. Like now - he has to prove that he will follow through on Iraq after Power said that he wouldnt; he has to prove that he means well with the NAFTA issue; plus the Rezko trial and Nadhmi Auchi issue is unfolding.

He is using racism to divert people's attention from his lies on NAFTA, Iraq, Rezko.

Sadly, Democrats accomodate him every time... no exceptions. And then those he maligns get stuck with a charge that is false but takes time to defend.

Enough!

If Obama keeps this up, half the Democratic Party will be accused as "racists" before the primary ends. See here:

Obama used "racism" when people raised his cocaine use. Obama raised "racism" if we say his middle name. Now he says its racism if we mention that "90% of the black votes - the same race as him? Is Obama going to control our words, our thoughts and our actions by threatening "racism" on the whole country?

Ridiculous.

If obama was white would he be getting the media coverage he gets and would 90% of any block of people be voting for him. I think Not!!! 905 of the black vote because he has good ideas? Because his command of the issues are so superior to anyone else's? NO 90% because he played the race card to perfection after his loss in NH. That night his supporters began talking about the Bradly affect. The calling out of context Fairy Tale remark Racist. Anything that was said against him was racist or race baiting against one of the most progressive presidents and supporters of the black community. He should be ashamed for putting the Clintons in that position. SHAME ON HIM. He started it and plays it to a tee. HOODWINKED> OKEY DOKED BAMBOOZLED all racist terms. HE IS THE RACE BAITER this will cost him dearly if he is the nominee. The Republican will not hesitate to call him on it because they don't need the black vote and the black vote is only 10% of the voting public and will not stop John McCain. I will not vote for such a deceitful man that used such an important subject of race in our country to bludgeon his opponent Hillary Clinton. He is turning back the hands of time reguarding race relations in our country. Fuelled by the MSNBC MEDIA anything to make a buck Chris Matthews. The JOKE OF NBC.

Ferraro didn't "sound" racist, her comment was racist, blatantly so.

Ferraro is a pathetic figure.

A boring politician with no record of real success.

An uninteresting person in general.

Clearly, she was jealous of the success of Obama, only adding another negative note to her resume of non-achievement.

Could you please point out the apology? Because - I don't see one. She's sorry that others made her the victim, I see that...

It's obvious they playing the race card for Rush Limbaugh's listeners to vote for Clinton. Of course she's trying to appeal to the right wing republicans who's strategy is that if they have to lose in November to the Democrats, they would rather lose to the WHITE Clinton. This will be especially effective message in Pennsylvania, her last stand to get the most momentum and delegates possible. A better idea for her is to bring Karl Rove as a campaign advisor!! The problem is that if she or McCain wins the election, either will be as divisive as Bush has been, and this country will continue to go down the tubes and will exemplify the failure of democracy to get good to win over the bad and the ugly, or just over evil. We would find out the feelings of Americans and were we would be heading, if we see the same spike or rush to immigrate to Canada right after elections similar to the last time, 2004, Bush got elected.

It is not the Clinton campaign that has played the race card; it is instead the Obama campaign and the media in general. The national media has been touting Obama as a "black candidate for president" and as the "charismatic, black senator from Illinois" since the moment he announced his candidacy. The foolishness began with the candidate himself and due to apparent white, liberal guilt, Obama got nearly nine months of a free pass from the bational media. I wonder, as well, why the home town paper of record is not spending a bit more ink on this gentleman's relationship with Mr. Rezko??

Geraldine Ferarro has just taken one for the gipper by her remarks on Obama. As a surrogate for Hillary Clinton, she was instructed to say what she said. When it backfired (or did it?) she gave a half apology and Hillary denounced the remarks. That supposedly makes thinks alright. So Hillart C gets to play the black card again through another high profile surrogate (it usually has been Bill).

Former Rep. Geraldine Ferraro is a citizen who said what she believed to be true. The angry response by some shows that deep down they know it true, that if Obama was a white man with the same shallow credentials of only three years in the senate, membership in a racist church that praised being white and allegiance to the white race, and honored a leader of the KKK, was friends with a terrorist who bombed the Pentagon, and accepted two million dollars from a wealthy Iraqi through Rezko a few weeks before he bought his mansion, and refused to wear an American flag pin or pledge allegiance to the flag or sing the national anthem, he would not be a front runner in the race to be president. No, if Obama was a white man, you wouldn't even be reading about him. He would have been torn apart by the media long ago. He could not have claimed discrimination to make them back off. The media have dealt with Obama with velvet gloves for fear of the race card being waved at them. A white man does not have the protection of the race card to hide behind. I salute Rep. Ferraro for speaking the truth. If you believed what she said was in error, you would have felt no anger and ignored it as having no relevance. If Obama was a white man, he would never have been elected to any political office.

Well based on the voting lines in some states - the black vote is keeping Obamas campaign rolling.

This double edge sword cuts both ways, Hillary is only where she is at because she was married to a president.

The current donkey in charge was mainly qualified by being the president's son and many people couldn't tell which Bush was running. Without this birthright, he wouldn't not have been annointed the "chosen one" before the primaries even started in 2000.

James above made a remark that is worth repeating. Bill Clinton had the overwhelming support of the Black community. Were they racist because they voted for him? If all that is needed is to be a Black man, Al Sharpton would be president. Geraldine Ferarro may or may not be a racist, but her comments definitely were racist. She was an embarrassment to the democratic party when she was a candidate for VP, and she's an embarrassment to America now. Hillary Clinton should reject and denounce her and is a hypocrite because she hasn't done so. I'm just glad that Nader is running so I'll have someone to vote for if Hillary Clinton wins (steals?) the nomination.

"Only a fool would think this stuff is unintentional. Hillary and Bill have been riding the wave of support from African-Americans for over 2 decades and when Hillary suddenly and unexpectedly found herself losing to Barack, she decided that all of that good will, all of that "holding of hands" w/ Black America hasn't gained her much, so she's throwing that so-called good will-- and the African-American constituency-- under the bus."

This is so apropo. It hits the nail on the head. Most Americans and people on here can't possibly know that Obama was raised by his White republican grandparents for most of his formative years. Not to mention his Mom (not to mention white) was a republican as well. I am just saying that this guy does not even come from the background where the race card is played. His family that we was around all of the time was not even BLACK. Therefore he can see people for what they are - people. Not to mention the fact that the Clintons have risen on and continually been supported by the BLACK vote. I am sure that Hill is mad as hell she did not get her 60% of it in Mississippi. How soon they forget - Blacks were the first people as a group to forgive Bill for his scandalous shenanegans in the Oval office. Come on people said Clinton was the first Black president -you are damn right the Clintons are angry. Mississippi proved that their Black card was revoked and Iowa proved that bi-racial people can appeal to all people because that is literally what they are. Not just one race but realizing the equity of all Americans regardless of origin. They can recognize all of their heritage - GASP how AMERICAN. That said Ferrarro needs to stop - I am embarrased that I thought she was a change candidate so many years ago. Now I know what was really going on in the back of her mind. Let me seem like I am supporting these folks to keep them in line - so sad, so old, so tired.

Friends,

So many comments here highlight how completely ignorant you all are. The logic that being black is all that got him here makes no sense and sadly brings out the racist in all of you. By that logic how can you explain that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson did not come anywhere close to being the Dem nominee? These were black men in case you missed it and people did not follow them en masse. Believe it or not there are a lot of voters out there who listen to their stances on the positions and on there past achievements and once you discover that Hillary was on the board of Wallmart and has helped companies like Monsanto destroy lives and has voted like a Republican Hawk over and over and given George Bush his wishes over and over and over its clear to some people who the better candidate is. A man who also is black. To suggest that being black is the only reason he is doing well makes no sense especially since there are still so many racists out there who actually will not vote for him because of his skin color - so the odds he is beating are quite stunning. Geraldine ought to be fired and go crawl into her white hole and just disappear. Another sad day in America.

Geraldine Ferraro certainly had no need to apologize. She said nothing wrong. Obama and the Obamanites are the racists in this equation. Obama is too thin skinned, If he had a disagreement with Putin, would he call him a racist? Anyone recieving 90% of the black vote has a lot of nerve calling a white person racist.

This is crazy. Hillary Clinton demanded that Obama "reject" Farakhan's endorsement. When one of Obama's top advisers called Hillary Clinton a monster she was forced to resign. Now that Geraldine Ferraro has made insulting comments to an entire race of people all Hillary can say is I don't support them. And further more, if you think that Barak is not getting requests for him to shine shoes or park cars you are crazy. Most of the people who don't believe that these were racist comments have blinders on. Anytime you take away a person's life accomplishments and reduce them to a skin color OR gender is RACIST. Is Hillary in the race because she is a woman? No! So why is Barak a Presidential hopeful because he's black?

All this furor is a sad commentary on what America and its politics have become. What Ms. Fararro said was not racist, it just included race as an relevant part of a candidates appeal. Her opinion might not be correct but it might be very close to the mark. We are what we are whether it be genetics or experiental. The divisive part of this story is not what Ms Farraro said but how this has been blown up to catastrophic proportions. If we can't openly discuss race, gender, religion and all the things that make us unique and how those things affect outcomes in events then we have so very far to go in this short-sighted society.

Once again - Why is OBAMA considered black???? is OBAMA's Mother BLACK - NO -
So who is the racist here??? WHY IN GOD'S NAME DOES EVERYONE CALL THIS MAN BLACK???? WAS HE RAISED IN A BLACK CULTURE???? NO - Didn't his black father abandon him????

When did Obama say that Ferraro's statement was racist? I must have missed it. All I heard was the word "DIVISIVE".

To Ms. Ferraro,
Subject: The All So Political Correct World of democrats - Pay Attention!

You can never criticize a black person for any reason whatsoever, even in the slightest. The retros- of your political party will descend upon U in full force, like the hordes of Hell. No retraction can ever be made. No appology would ever be accepted. Truth be damned. Makes no difference. Check Al Campanis, Jimmy The Greek, Howard Cosell, Don Imus, most recently Senator Joe Biden, Bill J. Clinton, the 1st black president, so many others, and now U.

This is simply what enlightened democrats in the 21st Century do. This is what they did in the 20th Century. There is no salvation in this criminal verbal act that would ever be extended to you. You and the rest of white America need to learn to pre-filter every thought and every word and just to be safe, just don't say anything. Ever. This is the political correct world of democrats. You are not welcome.

sorry can not figure out what was racist in what she said. now if she would of ask what his minister ment by whites are blue eyed devils" maybe obama would of had to answer this racist question don't you think? say are felons able to vote? obama say's things that lou dobbs does not say but this is OK? obama hillary issues? lets talk about your democrat schools and the 24.6 that graduate from them!!! how about 2nd grade reading where kids graduate to birth control pills and condoms by sixth grade? like the democrat and republican pilot school in maine? yes them issues hillary obama sure cloud them do they not? nothing talk but their names in the news over and over again on garbage! but keeps them from talking on them issues. but why? because they are the issues period! crime amnesty h-ib and h-2b visas open borders secret meetings unions nafta unfair trade you name they are a big part of it right walmart!! yes issues for which we americans here nothing but obama this hillary that! plus my friends my friends mcCAIN. the three amigo's independent michigan little big horn amen.

First off Scott what bizarro world do YOU live in?!! In case you haven't noticed white people HAVE BEEN getting away with saying horrible, disgraceful, hateful things about black people for DECADES and NOW you expect me to shed tears because you CAN'T get away with it like 'the good old days'?!! Fat chance and to the chuckleheads saying she's right WHAT?!! In case you inbreds haven't noticed all the presidents in this country have been[drumroll] WHITE MALES so who in the HELL does she think she's kidding?!! As for Tony Rezko please Bill Clinton got treated with the kiddest of kid gloves and MOST OF IT was those ver same white female feminazis who bitched like crazy when this was Clarence Thomas yet defended Clinton to the death. No matter how shameful, sexist, and misogynistic HIS behavior and since WHEN does 'racism trump sexism' last time I checked Hillary wasn't the one who needed EXTRA security because she was getting death threats. So maybe 'iron my shirts' somehow is MORE violent than someone saying they would make you the 'next James Bryd' works in YOUR little world but not in the real one. And if that's the case then why did 'Wonder Woman' Hillary run like rickeysahy rabbit when the impudent 'negro' got to be too much for her to handle. And god freaking FORBID black people EVER vote for someone based solely on race since white folks never, never,NEVER do that right, right?!! Ferraro is forgetting the 'free pass' she herself recieved when she was running as vice-president and the groundswell by the white feminazi hierarchy at HER run. You'd have thought Mary was going to re-birth Jesus the way the feminots AND media slobber over her warranted or not[probably not] NOW you all want to bitch because gasp clutch the pearls a black man is getting the same treatment from blacks. And I completely agree with the other poster who wrote NOBODY had a problem with black voters voting en masse for the likes of Kerry,Gore,Mondale,Dukakis, sleazy Clinton and countless other white males. Most of whom wren't even qualified enough to run a tilt-a-whirl let alone the White House the white female establishment structure didn't speak out then. Shrillary didn't have a problem with black people calling her worthless husband 'first black president'. If the white female shrews like Ferraro REALLY want to go there then let's talk about the fact that the feminazis are some of the most RACIST groups on the planet and have gone out of their way to make the 'movement' white only. Or have used their white male brethren to get thier way and have their say no matter how hypocritical and misguded it is.
