Tribune Co. reporters Rick Pearson, in foreground, and Glenn Thrush doing their business in a setting where doing one's business is common. Did they wash their hands after they filed their stories?

AUSTIN, Texas---Perhaps a better dateline would be the Texas flush-handle.

Yes, it was a night where journalism turned into urinalism for the traveling Hillary Clinton press corps, which is covering the Democratic presidential candidate making a speech at a rally at a sports facility.

Ann Compton, the veteran ABC News radio correspondent, said the press digs were among the more unusual she has seen. But, she added, if it was the White House in charge of the event, they would have put potted plants in the urinals and turned them into planters.

In any event, the Clinton campaign maintains that the filing center was not a reaction to the campaign’s complaints that the New York senator has been getting a lot more scrutiny than her rival, Barack Obama of Illinois.

Yet the campaign housed the press in the bathroom/athletic training room for about 5 hours. Was that a stall tactic?

But in a campaign that hasn’t exactly been flush with success lately, and is looking to remain viable in Tuesday’s primaries, it’s not unusual to wonder what the Clinton camp was thinking. Perhaps, yellow journalism?

Hillary's press corp is in the perfect place to flush her campaign down the toilet after she loses Texas.

In reality, in which Hillary doesn't reside, she not only needs to win Texas and Ohio, she needs to win them BOTH by huge double digit margins in order to even have a chance to win the nomination and that just isn't going to happen.

Finally not all, but most journalists where they belong. After toilet level articles about most candidates, where else would be appropriate?!

That picture is a perfect analogy of politics in America;

Here's my own contribution to the debate.

There is a reasonable analogy between modern American politics and gazing into an unflushed public toilet.

I know, you have seen it all. Here is a Democratic ’floater’ and there a Republican ’sinker’, and see the ’angry white male’ used toilet paper over to the side, and the discarded ’soccer mom’ tampon threatening to back up the whole system, and a couple left wing hawkers dangling off the edge of the rim, and the odd ’independent’ pubic hair here and there on the lid, and those ’undecided’ yellow tinged stains are everywhere, and lurking just below the surface is the used condom of illegal alien demagoguery, not to mention the unseen crypto-fascist fungi here and there just waiting for an opportunity.

And all this is accompanied by a horrid, foul, awful stench in the air, complete with the gross grunting, hard straining and loud farting of Pat Robertson, Dobson, and the other aptly named ’Movement’ Christians over in far right hand stall. As the old song says, ’Every way you look at it you lose!’

So remember; ’Gaze ye not long into the political toilet, lest the political toilet gaze into thee!’

Speaking of being in the toilet, John McCain/Bush just offended another large American voting block...again:

"In his struggle to shore up his base, John McCain has once again cast aside his principles by embracing Rev. John Hagee, saying he was "pleased to have the endorsement of Pastor John Hagee," despite his intolerant comments about Catholics, women, African Americans, Muslims and LGBT Americans. He repeated his support today, saying "I am very proud of the Pastor John Hagee's spiritual leadership to thousands of people…I am not endorsing some of their positions." Talk about stinkin' up the joint. geez

How does Madam President sound to you Alberto Hussein Gonzales. Get used to it.

I'm glad to see the reporters were actually writing their stories instead of (fooling) around in the bathroom. :)

I would like to apologize for my previous posting. It was childish, distasteful and offensive and I should have known better. Further, it was insulting, demeaning and uncalled for. Beyond that; Crass, rude, crude, and juvenile, unnecessarily combative, derogatory even! It’s also unfair, unbalanced, unfunny, extreme and inflammatory. If pregnant DO NOT READ IT! It may affect your child’s development.

But, I have tried to get it in several times before without success. And, I accepted the rejection without complaint. It was all of the above. No whining 'you are censoring me' postings from me.

But, when I saw that Rick P. and F.J. had actually posted a picture of political writers in a public mens room I knew I had them! I have been laying back in the tall grass waiting for this one. It only proves that the slow, steady plod, and patience wins the race in the long run.

That's the perfect place to cover Hilary Clinton. What an absolutely shameless campaign. Those Clintons will do anything to obtain political office. I pray Obama wins.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I couldn't eat or drink anything a public john! Even Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke!

Rick? Did you guys have to bunk in there too? Zell is some kinda cheap skate, hey!

The pork pie hat was a great touch! Way to 'go' Glenn!

These reporters are in the can in more ways than one. Did you notice how none of them, in reporting Ted Danson's support for Hillary, brought up the condemnation by black leaders of Danson for his black face routine at the Friars Club? Is it not lost on these reporters that Clinton's opponent is a black man? The Clinton-Danson announcement drips with irony.

Bringing her daughter Chelsea out to stump for her and Bill to get back into the Oval Office was about as out-house as she (they) could have gotten. And Chelsea's stumping was about as authentic as Hilary's reasons for hiding her income tax statement.

When did Hillary Clinton deliver health-care reform or demonstrate her economic wisdom and foresight while Alan Greenspan was warning of irrational exuberance as the subprime housing loans were created and pandered during her husband's administration and her husband supported China's entry into the World Trade Organization without any conditions such as protecting the environment or labor and property rights to levels that are comparable to western standards?

Today China is not only a leading contributor to environmental pollution and global warming (thank you very much Mr. Nobel Laureate, Al Gore), it's also pushing up oil and other commodity prices, taking our jobs and stealing our intellectual property.

If experience, wisdom and judgment may be relied upon to judge a presidential candidate's abilities to solve problems, then let's look at the records of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

2005 - While Barack Obama promoted a restoration of balance between work and wealth and criticized special interests for distorting U.S. tax codes, Hillary Clinton and her husband liquidated their blind trust of the nearly $50 million amassed during their years in public office.

2002 - While Barack cautioned that without clear rationale an invasion of Iraq would encourage the worst impulses of the Arab world and strengthen the recruitment arm of Al Qaeda, Hillary told Larry King she didn't regret her vote on the Iraq war resolution because like the Bush administration, the Clinton administration viewed Saddam Hussein as a threat to the international community.

1999 - While Barack secured bipartisan support for health-care reform and passage of low-income tax credits and child care subsidies in the Illinois legislature, Hillary supported her husband's Iraq "regime change" policy in order to divert public attention from the president's marital, legal and ethical infidelities.

1989 - While Barack Obama served as the Harvard Law Review's first black president, Hillary Clinton then wife of the Arkansas governor received payments from a law firm that was doing the state's business and received board of director payments from Wal-Mart where she remained silent about Wal-Mart's anti-labor union practices.

1979 - While Barack Obama was actively involved in the South African divestment movement to end apartheid, Hillary reaped profits of almost 10,000% in the futures markets and left taxpayers with her real-estate losses in the Savings & Loan bailout.

In Hillary's eight (8) years in the Senate, the Congressional Record ( shows she "sponsored" only two (2) pieces of legislation that were presented to the president for signature. The first piece of legislation (S. 1241) was to establish a historic site in New York state, the second (S. 3613) was to name a U.S. Postal Service building.

At 3:00 AM who is Hillary gonna call in a national crisis? GHOSTBUSTERS? Without any attachment to a position and no leadership qualities or principles to guide her in a time of national crisis, Hillary like her husband, would need to first conduct a poll to determine what is in her political interest before committing to any national decision.

It's refreshingly nice to see the better angels of America's character prevailing as voters reject the racial, religious and ethnic slurs being spewed by the divisive supporters of Clinton, Limbaugh and Hannity.

As a Republican-leaning independent, I will vote for Barack Obama if he is the Democratic nominee running against John McCain but I will not vote for Hillary Clinton.

So the Obama love fest reporting is coming from a mens room?

No wonder!

Obama / Rezko in 08!

Clinton is the "Nadar factor" in this year's Democratic nomination. Hilary has done far more harm to the the Democratic chance of winning the White House than any member of the Republican Party. Is this the "experience" she is talking about? If she loses the nomination how is she going to turn around to support the Democratic Nominee? We again see the ugly face of the old-politics which the American coming generation has resoundingly rejected: ego, ego ego. "I" instead of the American people. If a candidate has to take recourse to such ugly and dirty means to get the nomination, what then will she do when she gets into the White House? Hilary's quest of power is nothing more than her own vindication and the vindication of Bill. Why didn't Bill campaign for Al Gore in 2000? No, he wanted to return to the White House on the ticket of his wife after 8 years. What has this quest to do with women empowerment?

Oh yeah this is the swamp alright. And it is filled with Clinton Feacies. After having the last Presidency HANDED to us, this entire nation has gone underground to heal. And what did we get...war and outsourcing as our reward. ALL HOPE was just about gone until this Senator from Illinois emerged from the ashes like a beacon. And now that hope is being threatened by a ruthless feminist. She and Bill have crossed every line and made it where I will NEVER support a Clinton again. Not even against a Republican. And to bring my point home, I think Republicans are greedy and stengy two of the most deplorable traits you can have as a Christian and American.

What I'm about to say/ask is not important, but it caused a mild argument between my wife and I today. Both of us are sixty and white, not that it matters.

I was telling my wife how, despite the long hours and punishing pace of the campaign, not only does Hillary not look tired, she actually looks good.

My wife says part of it is plastic surgery on her chin. I was surprised to hear such thing, and she laughed at my naivete.

Question for the women in this forum: Do you think (or know) Hillary has had any kind of work done?

I still don't believe it, but then again, I'm a guy, and we are usually wrong about most things.

You know, I'm kinda odd, but there are some seriously strange opinions held by people. This is a truly odd piece, even for the Swamp. Oh well, vive la difference.

Judging from the quality of her attacks on Obama, Clinton's play-makers are officed in one of the half-moon outhouses in Luckenbach.

Hey Alberto Hussein Rezko Gonzalez...she doesn't have to win anything by double digit margins. If that was the case, so would Obama. They both won't have 2025 at the end of the day. Bring on the super delegates.

I'm just curious, and I know this is not exactly apropos to the article, but why is there a urinal RIGHT NEXT TO the sink? I mean, there's no privacy wall, no demarcation between the cleaning area and the free-flying-urine receptacle. I'm thinking YUCK! So tell me, would any man choose to use that urinal if someone was washing? Or go to that sink to wash when the left urinal is in use? And then I'm really trying to block the picture from my mind of this bathroom still being utilized for its intended purpose while it also serves as journalist central. There must be some stalls nearby. Hey, are you sure these aren't sportswriters ready to give a blow-by-blow account of who's "dropped a big one" in today's game of politics?
A curious female.

Just three or so feet to the right... Perfect. Now flush. That's what I call expediting a news story.

Just Curious Gal,

Welcome to the 'mens room'. We have to live with this a lot. No little futon to rest on either, if we have a case of the 'vapours'.

But on the other hand, there is never a line out the door to the mens room at the movies or ballpark. We get it done!

Just Curious Girl;

You wouldn't believe the indignities of the old men's rooms at old Comiskey park. Think circular firing squad, but everyone drunk.

Hey C. Morris -

LOL.....Brilliant stuff, your post is the funniest, truest recipe about the "bowl" of American politics I've read in some time.

Glad you enjoyed it. I actually got it printed, with the apology included, as a 'letter to the editor ' at our local rag. I nearly broke a rib.

Help. I'm drowning in puns.

Quoted, cut and pasted from an earlier Swamp story - It sort of says it all:

Searching for one thing in my files I came across a political endorsement letter I saved from November 2006 because it was a classic! Its the one where Obama endorses Todd Stroger with the line in it "Todd is a good progressive Democrat, who will bring those values and sensibilities to the job (Cook County Board President)...You can chose Todd Stroger and let him lead us into a new era of Cook County government. (LOL)" Signed Barack Obama and Dick Durbin. This would be progressive as in HIGHER TAXES and new era as in TODD's FRIENDS AND FAMILY get hired for big salaries. Obama for president, yikes!

They really look at home!!!! journalistic foot tapping here....One of the candidates will accuse the other of the stuff that the MSM does anyway...glory hole politics.

No one has mentioned Larry Craig. Doh!

What's happened to the 'separation of urinal and sink'?

Nasty Obama supporters! Wait 'til Michelle puts her foot in her mouth AGAIN!
And yeah, everything Hill claims the press is doing is TRUE!

Go Hillary! I think she will be flush with success!

Man, these responses look like a big left-wing kook job circle jerk. Have fun flusing our country down the toilet.

They are being penalized for not towing the line. How appropriate for her to put the WASPy males in the bathroom. I wonder where her favourites were accomodated? Catered ballroom at the Ritz?

This is what you can expect for four years if this beast is elected and you are not one of those who supports or needs her policymaking.

Sam Zell has decided to use the newsroom as his personal throne room for receiving hedge fund dignitaries and other assorted filthy rich people. So he's moved the reporters into the other kind of throne room.

"Man, these responses look like a big left-wing kook job circle jerk. Have fun flusing our country down the toilet.
