The Swamp

by Mark Silva

President Bush, who has refrained from a role in his party's presidential campaign until now, plans to welcome Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the party's putative 2008 nominee, to the White House tomorrow.

Bush's backing is a double-edged sword for McCain, who fought Bush in the 2000 Republican primaries and who critized the Bush administration for its early conduct of the war in Iraq and its treatment of suspected terrorists in captivity. McCain has aligned with Bush on the latest war strategy and has insisted that torture is illegal under any circumstances.

The president's endorsement represents a consolidation of the Republican Party for a candidate who greatly needs to convince the conservative base that he is conservative enough.

Yet the public embrace of a president whose public approval has hovered at an average of 33 perccent for the past year in the Gallup Poll will readily be taken by his Democratic opponent as a symbol that a vote for McCain is a vote for a continuation of the Bush White House.

At the White House on Wednesday, Bush plans a noon welcome for McCain at the North Portico -- a grand formal entrance at the front door of the mansion. Bush will host a lunch for McCain in the private dining room.

Bush then plans a public statement with John McCain in the Rose Garden.

And someone needs to remind John McCain to be true to himself, and NOT pander to the right "wing nuts", if he wants to win in November, with the support of Independents and moderate Republicans -- the REAL Conservatives!!

I think Bush plans on giving a baby shower for McBush. Illegitimate of course.

Meet the new GOP warmonger - McCain

Same as the old GOP warmongers - Bush/Cheney

The 2008 Republican noninee, John McCain, supported the surge and was right...that's one reason why there aren't anymore articles about Iraq on The Swamp....We're WINNING and the left only supports defeat.

****Hillary wins Ohio****

Obamamania has peaked!

We did it! McCain will unite our party and bring it back to the principles of Teddy Roosevelt.

For everyone who wants to get to know real character and real strength, here's a video that will let you know EXACTLY where Senator McCain stands:

In order to shortfuse the attacks from the wacko left that are sure to ensue, I'd like to post some of their oh-so wise predictions. Remember, they're so, SO much smarter than the rest of us, ya know?

You're right SS Sherman, McCain is finished... I mean Republican nomination?

My respect for McCain's military service is waining (sic) more and more as McCain toadies up to Dubya more and more.

Yeah, he's toast.

In the above article Mark Silva cites a Gallup poll on the president's approval rating (which, by the way, is higher than that of the press and that other Democrat-dominated body, Congress).

What Mark Silva won't tell Swamp readers: Republican John McCain is leading both Clinton II and Obama in the latest Gallup Poll. And the LA Times/Bloomberg Poll. And the Rasmussen Poll.

Guess the Democrats at the Swamp only cite Gallup if the Gallup numbers look bad for Republicans.

McCain's wife will make another outstanding First Lady.

B.J. Clinton and Michael Obama just don't cut it as classy First Ladies.

We have a black man that has great skills in leadership and communication. This same individual has proven to be one that exceeds expectations. Then we have a woman that has the true strength and belief that makes women the source of all man kind. We then have a man that will hide behind the shadows of an administration in order to get national recognition and control, running a country that is in such detriment, he himself has not enough time to fix it.

Who will win?
Well, those that are not close minded, and blinded by old habits or ways of thinking want Obama to win based upon the need for adequate communication, planning and leadership globally.
My gutt feeling is that somehow Mccain will find favor with the BA and pull foward on a tight margin.

But if thier is a God and he is watching on us, his United States of America. He will not allow for our nations future to be swindled or compomised for the benefit of one families financial success.

You are the ultimate punk, Jeffy

You cheerlead for a guy (McCain) who supports sending more of our young people off to die in a never ending war for someone elses oil and yet YOU refuse to back up your tough guy talk and sign up for this war yourself.

Yes Jeff, you are a Republican alright because that's what they stand for now days, all talk and no action.

Unlike you, I don't run away and hide when my guys lose.
McCain "winning" the Repub nomination is like a girl winning the best personality award at the Miss America contest.
McCain didn't win the nomination because he was a good candidate, he won because he was the best the Repubs could come up with in a group of god awful candidates.

This is a picture you nutty Repubs are going to be seeing alot of this fall.

Since she's a wealthy persciption drug addict I guess she does make for the "perfect" Republican wife.

How sad are McCain's chances this fall?

He's practically running unopposed and barely cracked 50% in Texas.

Bring it on GOPer's, Barack or Hillary both will kick that old man's butt...

Isn't that what you also said, in earnest, about Ron Paul's political career a few days ago, Jeff?

[He won re-election to Congress, you know.]

Please plaster as many pictures as possible of Bush and McBush hugging and high 5ing. One thing the right has not really mentioned is the extremely high turnout state after state for the democrats. Bush is the #1 reason. They are fed up with this administration and this will only help to prove McBush is 4 more years.

Again you miss the point. Bush has a popularity rating near 70 percent among Republicans and it is those people McCain has to get to the polls and to get energized. Further, Bush is by far the most effective fund raiser the GOP has. There's a good chance a lot of Democrats will stay home in the fall because of their upset with either Hillary or Obama. Don't forget that over 50 percent of the people say they would never vote for Hillary. Don't be deceived by Democrat primary votes.

Congratulations King of Double Standards Jeff/Bill,
Senator John McCain is more popular than Mitt "Flip Flop" Romney, Mike "Unelectable" Huckabee and Rudy "Scumbag" Ghouliani. Just remember he was your party's 3rd choice before they finally "held their nose" and picked him so he's got a lot of work ahead of him. $15 says he chooses a running mate that is either black, a woman, or a black woman. It's the Republic way. After all the IL Republic Party had to go to MD to find Alan Keyes to take on Obama becuase they were so bankrupt on ideas on how to move our state and country forward. "When in doubt pick a candidate who looks like (Keyes) or has a name that sounds like (Durkin) your opponent" says the Republic Party playbook.

Bill r. has it right - just keep on showing those pics of Bush and McCain together.

Then list all the ways that McCain has flip-flopped on policies so he can fit in with the right wing of the Republican party. All about how the candidate of the family values party was having an affair with his present wife when his former wife was in the hospital. Then as the capper, right around election time we will lose our 4,000th soldier in Iraq as a reminder of the Bush/McCain war.

Then get all the nutjobs like Paulo, Brucie, Johnny D and the rest to keep on bringing up Obama's middle name. And Anonymous with his "Osama voting for Osama" bit.

Looks pretty good for the Dems to me.

Brucie:

The polls also showed that Obama or Clinton would beat Hucklebee. So what does that prove?? Wait until the Dems have a candidate, then look at the polls.

The last time you did that post, the Swamp did post the polls you mentioned.

Also, please tell us what the McCain margin is. Is it more or less than the margin of error? What is the undecided vote?

Jerauld:

Keep on dreaming - this election will be determined by the independent voters - part of the group that gave Bush his 33% rating.

Jerauld:

Nice try. Dems have had record turnout in the primaries because they are very eager for change. The situation will be exactly the same in November -- unless Dem turnout gets even better based on several months of demonstrating the countless instances of McSleepy licking GWB's b-hind and witlessly cheering us on to disaster.

McCain is a vote for more of the same, and only the deadenders want that.

Bush to McCain: Oh right, that was your ADOPTED child.
I'll always view a vote for McCain as a vote for an abused, spouse-syndromed suck-up where BushCorp is the abusing spouse.  And, a vote for McCain = more war, war, war and more $$$, $$$, $$$ going to build Middle Eastern infrastructure INSTEAD OF  American infrastructure--as BushCorp has invested trillions of our collective recession dollars into the invasion/occupation and their personal Iraqi cash cow.  (Cheney/Halliburton NYSE: HAL surpassed 10 B in Iraq no-bid contracts--VP wartime spoils--HAL is the leading recipient of Iraq reconstruction contracts; and whats with  HAL's famous KBR subsidiary)  Do we know yet if McCain views the Bill of Rights and The Constitution as impediments to government--as it seems his abusive spouse/heart throb (psycho relationship) has done for so long?

They're even dumber than I thought.

I wonder if the McCains will have give-up their lucrative, exclusive Beer distribution (Budweiser) here in Arizona if and when they get into the White-house??
They make MUCH more money selling beer here than the presidental salary!!!

they're still after us,you so smart ignorant liberals

You mean the woman with whom McSame committed adultery with for years while married to wife #1? Now we know that McSame has been committing adultery with a lobbyist for years while married to wife #2?

Yeah, sleeping with a married man - that's classy, all right.
