The Swamp

by Jill Zuckman

This just in:

Former President George H.W. Bush will appear with his wife, Barbara, on Monday to showcase their endorsement of Sen. John McCain as the GOP nominee for president.

A senior campaign official said that the former first couple will attend a rally for McCain and are expected to campaign for him.

Just in case there was any doubt that the Republican race was settled.

What?? A former president campaigning for a current nominee?? I thought that was a big no-no. The media has been screaming that President Clinton should not campaign for his wife because he's a former president!

Say to Bush/McCain!!! war mongers.

Barack for president '08

Romney and the former president! What a great week for McCain.

Looks like McVain is "skeered" off lil' ole Huckabee!

I have always liked John McCain. I respect his sacrifice and his imprisonment in Viet Nam. But, unless he repudiates the endorsement from a man I who has been the chief architect of our country's global failure in nearly every area, I will not support him for president.

It's over now Huckabee, drop out so McCain can continue to spread the truth about Obama's empty suit rhetoric.

Obama's snake oil salesman's platitudes will never compare to McCain's experience and heroism!

Only if you consider it great to be given the kiss of death by two idiots. If McCain accepts these endorsements, and he has, then he will never be able to convince anyone but Jeff that he is an agent of change.
McBush = 4 more years of failed economics + 100 years of American war dead.

I am a Republican, and all I can say is that we are going to lose in November. The nation wants "change", and I honestly don't think McCain (Senator for too long) and with the endorsement of Bush and all the GOP establishment, that doesn't signify "change". The only one to go up against Obama is Mike Huckabee. He is young, a great communicator and has fresh ideas. After November, the GOP is going to be kicking themselves in the foot for making such a dumb decision. The only reason why McCain is leading in delegates is because of South Carolina. Some dumb people fell for the "Thomson's Last Stand". Fred took away votes from Huck for his pal Mac. Huck would have won SC, and this would have stopped the McCain surge. All this dissing of Huck by the establishment and kissing up to Romney, backfired. It left room for Mac in South Carolina. Without the media's attention and Romney's "It's a two man race", Huck won 5 states on Feb. 5th. He lost Missouri by 0.5% and Oklahoma by 4%. You failed GOP, and you will fail in November. You better get used to saying "President Obama".

Bruce Y, it's not for the candidate to "accept" an endorsement or not. No candidate's in the business of throwing away votes.

Romney ran a dirty campaign and is generally despicable but his delegates count and will now vote McCain so his endorsement is welcome. You might consider George H.W. Bush to be an idiot, but millions of americans respect him for leading the coalition that freed Kuwait in the early '90s and respect him even more for the dignity and purpose he has shown as an ex-president.

"Agent of change" is a meaningless PR team concocted by the Obama campaign. McCain would never emulate it. Look around at the rampant corruption of the "change" Obama has brought to Illinois.

Anne, it's time to face facts, McCain ran a better campaign than your guy. And he'll do the same thing to Obama or Clinton. Hear that, Obama supporters? You're not done with the Clintons yet. Be wary.

hey anne: heard of Ron Paul?

I don't mean to speak for her, but it sounds to me like Anne isn't interested in throwing her vote away.

"BIG POPPY SR. SPEAKS"

JOHN JOHN WILL YOU "PARDON" MY SON IF HE IS IMPEACHED?

JOHN JOHN WILL YOU "PARDON" MY GOOD BUDDY DICK IF HE IS IMPEACHED?

JOHN JOHN WILL YOU PARDON MY AT&T BUDDIES FOR TAKING IT ON THE CHIN FOR MY SON?

JOHN JOHN IF YOU WIN THE PRESIDENCY WILL YOU FIND THE LAST "PRESIDENTIAL SERVER" THAT HAS ALL MY SONS COMMUNICATIONS WITH JACK, TOM AND ANY OTHER CO CONSPIRATORS IN HIS ADMINISTRATION.

OF COURSE BIG POPPY, I'LL DO ANYTHING TO BE PRESIDENT. ANYTHING.

ANYTHING JOHN JOHN, ANYTHING.

JOHN JOHN HE'S OUR MAN.

GET MIKE ON THE PHONE, NO WAIT TWO WEEKS, UNTIL AFTER THE RECESS, I NEED THE UPTMOST "SECRECY" WHEN I PLACE THAT CALL ON MY NEW AT&T CELL PHONE!

There was a time that I would have voted for McCain. That time has long since passed. For him to be so supportive of a complete failure of a president for so long and even worse, to not vote against torture shows that he is not the right candidate. I do not envy the president that comes in and has to clean up after the current one. They are going to have a difficult time regaining trust throughout the world. As much as I agree with a good bit of Ron Paul's ideas, just deleting agencies of the government (and ones not spending most of the money) is not the best way. Due to endless tax cuts and poor spending control, whole agencies are failing and will need to be repaired. I don't see McCain as anything more then just a continuation of what we have. The only difference is that he actually served in the military.

I heard today that Rush wants to endorse Obama over McCain!!?

Ann Cooter for Clinton? Now Hush for Obama? Get real. This is beyond hysterical.

Reality check, folks: Being a prisoner of war in Vietnam, torture and all, deserves respect and recognition. It's also totally unrelated to the office of President, and shouldn't be any more effective at getting your vote than Hillary Clinton's tears.

C. Morris, I laughed my [vulgar slang] off when I read this one: "Ann Cooter"

My mistake, I was referring to the son. I don't consider the father to be an idiot, after all, he knew better than to invade Iraq.
This is not to say I have any respect for him. He armed Saddam and commited treason by selling missles to Iran. The Bush family is at the center of what is wrong with America, dating back to Grandpa Prescott and his financial support of Hitler. Look it up.

Jeff,
Glad ya liked it.
