DE PERE, Wis.—They say that there’s no do-overs in politics, but that’s exactly what Hillary Clinton is trying to do today—redoing a series of appearances originally scheduled for Sunday but canceled due to ice and snowy weather.

As light snow began to grow heavier shortly before 7 a.m. in Milwaukee, the New York senator embarked on a President’s Day campaign schedule that is supposed to trek from near Green Bay to Wausau to Eau Claire and on to Madison.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way. By the time she took the stage at St. Norbert College outside Green Bay, she had originally figured to be campaigning in Ohio instead.

In Wisconsin, the Clinton campaign is hoping to at least finish competitive with rival Sen. Barack Obama in the ever-crucial convention nominating delegate count, if not pull off an upset in the Illinois senator’s neighboring state.

Clinton, seeking to acquire a populist-economic mantle previously held by former contender John Edwards, also is borrowing from the former North Carolina senator’s campaign playbook.

Clinton today unveiled “Solutions for America,” Clinton’s “economic blueprint for the 21st Century,” a compendium of previously stated positions on trade, economic policy and the home foreclosure crisis.

Edwards offered his 77-page “Plan to build one America” in mid-November. Clinton’s booklet is 13 pages. Of course, Edwards is no longer a candidate and is now being courted for an endorsement by the two survivors.

None of the policy positions in her pamphlet are necessarily new—just the campaign’s math. Page 2 of the booklet contends, among the litany of challenges facing Americans, that “Gas is over $3.00 a barrel.”

One barrel holds 31 gallons, which would make the price of gas about 9.6 cents a gallon. That’s merely a drop in the bucket from the $2.99 a gallon advertised at the gas stations along the route to St. Norbert College.

Okay, the media talking heads kept saying Hillary was "giving up" on Wisconsin because she scheduled events there on Sunday and planned to not campaign Monday and Tuesday.

Now, and both Obama and Hillary canceled events Sunday, she looks smart because she has a day to make up all the lost events while Obama's already gone. But does the media give her credit? Nope.

You can't have it both ways. If she was wrong to not be there today as she originally planned then she's right to be there now after the cancellations. I'm no Hillary fan but it's obvious the media is nearly 100% behind the plagiarist.

“Gas is over $3.00 a barrel.”

hilLIARy is the one who is over a barrel

the media is nearly 100% behind the plagiarist.

No, they're not all behind Senator John "Fired up and ready to go" McCain.

Jeff_ FYI- Obama has not left Wisconsin. He is giving a rally there tonight in Beloit at 8:00 pm. Methinks it is Mrs. Clinton who has already left the state. Check your facts next time !

The Clintons strategy is to paint Obama negatively and make people fear him. They have the means:They are well known and he is not. They[Clintons] are ready to do or say anything to get that "OWNED NOMINATION" that Obama is trying to EARN!

Give the lady credit for slogging through the ice and snow and for rearranging her schedule in order to make up for the lost day.

Obama's healthcare is only gonna cover people uner 25 if he gets anything through on health care at all. What about the rest of us?

Further, he wants to make it easier for people to get a high school diploma. Already people are graduating who can't read and write. How low can we go?

All that glitters is not gold.

We need someone who knows what they're doing and Ms. Clinton has all her ducks in order, she's been winning against the Republicans for years. She's still here. Obabma didn't vot for the war, that's true, but then he wasn't in the Senate then, so there's nothing but his word that he wouldn't have voted for it if he were able is there? Easy to say now with hindsight. How many of us would like to have hindsight first? He who has made no mistakes has made no effort!

The Republicans are goingg to cut Obama off at the knees. He has no idea what he's in for. He was shining when he said he couldn't tell which Clinton he was running against, but if he can't handle the Clintons who helped him get the office he has now in case you didn't know, how will he ever be able to stand up to the Republicans in the general election?

We meed a winner who will work for us.

Hey Rick, as a reporter have you never made a typo, which slipped past the copy desk, and the city editor and made it into the paper? Guess not. The media bias against Clinton, and cheerleading for Obama is really starting to wear thin.

Move over Willy Coyote, its Hillary Clinton, super genius. She thought she could fly in Saturday and hop the first plane out Monday. Can you feel the love?

Guess what sports fans, there was was bad weather in Wisconsin in February! Didn't see that coming.

Hillary did find time in schedule to drop by a local diner. Even though the Clintons are worth $50 million she's all about hanging with the common person.

Oh and she made a trip to a hispanic grocery store. Considering the hispanic population of Wisconsin is less than 5%, could this be a blatant PR op for her Texas campaign?

Hillary loves Wisconsin, schedule permiting.

If people would actually read they would see that Obama paid 600,000 dollars to super delegates in the past year.(Wall Street Journal, New York Times) Is that buying votes? He also accepted what amounts to an 800,000 gift from Revcko whose trial was postponed as not to affect the campaign of Barak. (ABC NEWS) He lied about his 17 year association with Revcko, he plagarized speeches, he actually publishes Hillary's economic plan as his own and to top it all off..he denied being black when he was asked to help the Jenna 5. (Wall Street Journal) He wanted his 'folks' to see him as non-colored so he could stay neutral colored. Jesse Jackson actually called him on this. This man is just showing the tip of his problems and in my opinion unfit for any job, including senator.

Interestingly, I can't find "giving up" anywhere in the above article. Looks like a case of sour grapes for this poster. Most of the media reports I ma reading tonight are about Hillary - so why whine about bias? It's leaning in your favor! The Clinton slogan should be "When the going gets tough, the mud starts flying".
With speeches that quote past leaders, including good old Bill himself, she is equally guilty of what is incorrectly being called plagierism. This is diversionary nonsense tailored to fill the airwaves and distract everyone from the issue at hand. H8illary lacks any moral compass and will say anything to further her own narrow interests. She stole Obama's slogans and Edward's economic plan. And even that she couldn't get right. Hillary is tanking. Just remember to get your bitter selves out and vote in the general election when the time comes.

Clark,
You said, "Easy to say now with hindsight".

Obama did speak out against the Iraq war. Please check this out.

Clinton's excuse for voting YES is "after all I am a NewYork Senator, how can I vote NO?"

We are like third world countries honoring the dynasties. Grow UP America.

Attention Wisconsin voters who may read this article: This is a video and song written by a soldier in Iraq. Please watch the video. Our soldiers are serving bravely. They need to finish the mission of securing Iraq, and then they need to come home safely. The safety and fate of our soldiers requires a President who has been to Iraq and witnessed and assessed –first hand– the situation there. Hillary have been to Iraq. Obama has NOT. Since Obama has never been to Iraq, I personally feel he is not poised to pull us out of the middle east safely. Please watch this video, and please think of our soldiers and their safe return when you vote this election. Please forward this link, so the soldier’s song may be heard. Thank You- Here is the link to the Soldier’s Video: http://www.flashdemo.net/gallery/wake/index.htm

I will happily grant that the price of gas was a slip of the tongue and not worth a fuss.

However, Clark, what about her campaign says she has all her ducks in order? For someone who claims to be intimately familiar with exactly how everything in government works, she keeps getting surprised in this election, most recently by the Texas rules. And she has won against a dearth of Republican opponents in NY twice.

Obama gave a well-known speech against the war when Clinton and McCain were signing on--it's not like he's claiming a hypothetical, he's on the record. Showing good judgement, even when politically inexpedient.

Why I vote for Hillary:
1. After 9/11, she worked diligently to secure funds to recover and rebuild. She fought to provide compensation to families of the victims, small businesses and front line workers at Ground Zero and improve homeland security.
http://thedemocraticdaily.com/2008/02/08/senator-hillary-clinton-an-american-hero/

2. In her work on the Senate Armed Services Committee, she has been working to see that our military has the necessary resources. She has visited Iraq and Afghanistan to learn first hand the challenges our combat forces are facing.

3. Hillary passed legislation to track the health status of our troops so that conditions like Gulf War Syndrome would not be misdiagnosed.

4. She is an original sponsor of legislation to expand health benefits to members of the National Guard and Reserves.

5. She has introduced legislation to tie the Congressional salary increases to increases in the minimum wage.

6. She has supported a variety of middle-class tax cuts: marriage penalty tax, property tax relief, reduction of the Alternative Minimum Tax

7. She passed legislation to create jobs in struggling communities through the Renewal Communities program.

8. She has championed legislation to bring broadband internet access to rural America which helps support the economic growth of the community.

9. She continues to strengthen the Children’s Health Insurance Program which she developed to help low income and working families.

10. She has authored legislation that has been enacted to improve the quality and lower the cost of prescription drugs.

11. She has sponsored legislation in the global fight against HIV/AIDS

12. She has passed legislation that will bring more qualified teachers into the classroom

13. She is one of the original sponsors of the Prevention First Act to increase access to family planning.

14. She introduced the Count Every Vote Act in 2005

Senator Clinton has proven her substance and her ability “to work across the aisle” and gain support to accomplish legislation and laws that have touched all our lives. She has been a consistent champion of human rights working with world leaders in Ireland, China and 82 other countries.

While she was First Lady, she traveled the world speaking out on abuse of women and human rights. She helped to increase funding for breast cancer research and she created the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997. She fought drug companies in order to push through her Vaccines for Children Program.
And, she puts her money where her mouth is: All the proceeds from her best-seller, "It Takes A Village", have been donated to children's causes across the country.

I could go on, but suffice it to say, Hillary’s hard work and ability to “reach across the aisle” effectively has touched all of our lives.
Thank you, Hillary

A plea for Wisconsin...Get your facts strait. Barack Obama has been to Iraq.

Hillary looks like a nasty grandma!!! how many people would like to listen to their grandmas? it is time for her to go home, cry, yell, and nasty to bill only.

Above, Clark states: "Obama's healthcare is only gonna cover people uner (sic.) 25 if he gets anything through on health care at all. What about the rest of us?"

This statement is based on a readily apparent, but lamentably common, misconception. Obama's healthcare plan is nearly identical to Hillary's, and hence, COVERS (i.e. is available to) EVERYONE; it is simply that Obama only *requires* people under 25 to purchase healthcare, whereas Hillary would require everyone to do so. If you are over 25, you can purchase healthcare under Obama's plan just the same as under Hillary's; the only difference is that under Hillary's plan, you will be penalized if you do not purchase it within a certain amount of time (possibly through garnished wages). Recall that we are not talking about universal healthcare in the sense of being universal and free to all--both democratic candidates are proposing federally subsidized healthcare which is universally *available* (no one can be rejected because of preexisting conditions, etc.), but this coverage would still need to be purchased, and paid for, by each individual.

There are just some question I have for the HRC- what is your relationship with Ron Burkle, InfoUSA,, Frank Giustra, Victor Pinchuk, just to name a few- but do the countries like Dubai, Saudi Arabia or China ring a bell $$$$. Just thought a voter would want to know. And about those income taxes $$$$$$.

The November elections are what matters the most. So considering that the differences between Hillary and Obama in terms of policy are miniscule the MOST important issue is "electability". Who can beat Mccain in November.

I think we all believe Hillary could be a find President but the bottom line is she is unelectable. Poll after poll bear this out and still people keep their head in the sand pretending like this isn't so. Obama is attracting twice the number of voters in RED states to vote for him than the Republicans are getting to come out for their own Republican primaries. Obama has the support of 62% of the independents and Hillary has only 30%. Obama has about 75% of the support of the African Americans and Hillary is in the 20's. Even White women voters are now almost neck and neck in support for Obama and Hillary. I haven't personally met any Republicans who said they could cross-over and vote for Hillary. That is a big problem for us in November.

It is like voting for Nader in 2000. You may have agreed with him and wanted to really really believe in your heart that voting for him might mean something but let's face it, the Nader supporters clinched the Bush presidency. Sorry but the Geens and enviromentalists indirectly contributed to the worse period of destruction to our planet in modern day memory.

So the choice should not be about whether Obama or Hillary has more experience or whether we can parse some minute difference in their policies or even completely disregard the fact that neither Obama or Hillary would run this country in a complete vacuum without any help from good solid people around them. The debate should be about who we can elect that can beat Mccain in November. The best analogy that I can think of is arguing amongst ourselves about whether to run the ball into the end zone from the one yard line or throw a screen pass to win the game and taking a delay of game penalty, and subsequently losing the game.

Come on people this debate about experience, and speeches, and likeability, and ridiculously minor differences in policy is COMPLETELY mute!!!

I think we all know which candidate has a better chance of taking more independent votes and Republican votes and ultimately beating Mccain and cultivating a grassroots movement to actually cause change and bring in more democratic senators and representatives into Congress. The survival of our planet depends on us democrats winning the November election. It is very clear that Obama has the best chance of doing this.

FACT CHECK- GK Obama has been to Iraq ONCE (in January), guess he needed to "check in" before running for President. McCain and Hillary had already been there multiple times, showing their genuine interest and concern. Obama just cares about getting elected, and doesn't care about the people. A vote for Obama is a slap in a soldier's face.

To those who are comparing Hillary vs. Obama on the war:

Giving a "well-known" speech against the war as a state legislator is not comparable to Hillary's situation. It's easy for Obama to say that he was against the war--he was not privy to all of the intelligence, he was not being personally briefed by the officials, and he has stated publicly that he can't be sure how he would have voted if he were in the Senate at the time. I just don't think that it's a fair comparison to make, especially when Senator Clinton made it clear before the war that her vote was not an authorization for preemptive war, but rather a tool for coercive diplomacy that could be used to get inspectors back into Iraq.

And to those who say Hillary isn't electable:

I would simply point out that, at this time in 2004, John Kerry was polling ahead of Bush by about 12 points. Hillary might have "high negatives," but this is only because almost everyone already knows her. Obama's negatives will certainly rise as people become more aware of his voting record and questionable stances on many issues. Hillary is electable: She has a loyal base of support and has proven time and time again that she can take on the GOP attack machine and come out on top.

Just some things to consider.

Hillary '08!!!!

With respect to experience they're about even, with respect to policy they are about even. The only way Hillary has the lead is if you give her the unsought credit for being on the union-busting board of Walmart. When it comes to truthfulness, courage and leadership Sen. Clinton is the midget. The only nomination she can win is of a decimated Democratic Party. Thank you Hillary for preparing Obama for the fall election.

The status quo is cynical and fear mongers. Bush taught us that.

Hillary Clinton uninspired, cynical and out-organized on day one.

I live in NYC and HRC won here on her machine only. She didn't win because she has done anything note worthy for the state. She pushed out a leading native so she could have the Senate seat to run for POTUS. She told everyone she would not run. HRC has been less than stellar for NY Dems who have tried more progressive policies. Everytime we try progressive stances she sides with upstate Republicans. She is joke and I hope she looses this run so we can defeat her in the coming years here in NY. Please WI use your Midwest common sense and don't vote for this woman. NY is counting on you.

Here's a question to track with Miko's. Does anyone know Obama's relationship with giant nuclear plant Exelon and the one legislative bill he introduced to Congress concerning their radioactive leaks in IL? The bill never got passed even though Obama claimed that it had while ge campaigned in Iowa. In the meantime, guess who is one of Obama's big contributors? Exelon. One hand washes the other. Other huge campaign contributors are JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs. Not exactly blameless in the entire subprime debacle.

Sally, read the above post! She's still there!

Fired up and ready to go is an obvious shot across Obama's bow. McCain is using it to mock him. And it's one phrase, it's not stealing an entire speech like Obama the plagiarist did.

The worst thing about dishonest people truly is what their warped concept of honesty is.

p.s. Obama was in Youngstown Ohio when I posted that.

If Hillary wins the democratic nomination, the smartest thing to do is to vote republicans.

Hillary has shown how immature and childish she can be.

AC19 you say, "(Hillary) has a loyal base of support and has proven time and time again that she can take on the GOP attack machine and come out on top."

I keep seeing all the Clintonites touting how Hillary can take on the GOP attack machine and keeps coming out on top? Really? How many times has she campaigned before now? You make it sound like she has won dozens of elections when in fact it has only been two. She has only campaigned as a New York Senator, which happens to be about the most Blue/liberal voting state in the country. I would hardly say she defied all odds to win New York.

Are you referring to Hillary or Billary?

The '$3 a barrel' typo reminds me of what Huckabee said about the Democratic candidates:
"American don't want someone who can fix a carburetor, they want someone who can drive the car."

Of course, just about everything lately reminds me of that quote - it was that good! Although after what her staff has been doing lately, I don't think I'd trust them to change a tire, let alone fix a carburetor. The wheels have definitely come off.

Frank James: Tomorrow is Wisconsin and Hawaii. Much as I'm certain you'd enjoy the snow and ice in Wisconsin, I sincerely hope you're being sent to cover Hawaii. Caucusing on the beach is surely something you need to experience firsthand to be able to report on it accurately. You owe it to your readers. :-)

Obama has done nothing except 3 months of community service in Chicago. He hasn't even done his own campaign except give his copied speeches. Oprah gave him his start in this campaigne and he is constantly using the Kennedy name.He has no substance of his own and no solutions for the critical position that the country is in.

Hey Jeff, speaking of being dishonest. Hear are your words, "Fired up and ready to go is an obvious shot across Obama's bow. McCain is using it to mock him. And it's one phrase, it's not stealing an entire speech like Obama the plagiarist did."

Really?? Obama stole the entire speech? Maybe you should double check your facts again. Stole would imply that it was used without permission which is not the case considering Gov. Deval suggested that Obama use it. Secondly he only borrow one sentence within an hour long speech. I would hardly call that stealing an entire speech. So really Mccain plagarized Obama's phrase and Obama borrowed a sentence from his friend Gov. Deval.

I hope Hillary wins. I don't want a relative of Dick Cheney's in the White House. Obama and Cheney are distant cousins.

http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=local&id=3794382

Obama in Iraq. In 2006. Only 4 congressmen ventured outside of the green zone, Obama was one of them.

No need to argue with the liars and people with misinformation. I bet everything I own, Obama will be 10-0 tomorrow. WI and HI will be double-digit wins (11% and 29% respectively).

For both Clinton and Obama, their campaign organizations represent the largest body they've presided over thus far. Neither has run a business or held executive office so their campaign gives us the best picture of their ability to run things.

Clinton has run a campaign that racked up enormous money in 2007 ($130mil), blew it all before the Iowa caucuses and found itself dead broke. Clinton appointed long-time friend Solis Doyle to manage her campaign regardless of Solis Doyle's ability. Sure enough, Solis Doyle managed to blow through the $130mil and not tell Clinton that her campaign was broke. Clinton, on the other hand, never told Solis Doyle (her own hand-picked manager) that she was loaning the campaign $5mil from Clinton's own pocket just to keep the campaign afloat. There are several stories of unpaid bills for hotels and cleaning services still in Iowa and New Hampshire. Call it intentional lack of payment or accept the campaign stories that they just lost the bills and no one knew they had to pay. Neither speaks well of the campaign.

Part of the fiscal fiasco was because Clinton and her chief strategist Mark Penn never had a plan past Feb. 5th. Clinton completely expected (and is quoted several times saying) that the whole process would be over by midnight Western time, Feb 5th. When Clinton failed to shut out Obama, the campaign was caught flat-footed without a plan or money. Clinton made her loan public as an appeal to her supporters to quickly get her some more cash. She didn't make a point of mentioning that her supporters were on the hook to pay Clinton back the $5mil Clinton gave since it was a loan and not a gift.

Clinton made the decision fairly early on to ignore the red state votes and caucus states. This decision meant that Obama not only won those states but won them by large, delegate sweeping margins which negated her Large Blue State strategy of winning New York, New Jersey, California, etc. Again, Clinton was caught unprepared and lacking in organization or field offices to make even a token defense.

Now Clinton is cornered into Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania. It is mathmatically improbable that Clinton can win a majority of pledged delegates (she'd need to win 53% in every remaining state or 60% in the remaining states that are competative). She is forced to clamor for the delegates in MI & FL to be seated despite her agreements to not count them. Likewise, she has been belittling and trying to diminish the importance of valid Obama wins in caucus states saying that those votes don't represent Democratic America and shouldn't affect how superdelegates cast their vote.

So, in short, Clinton has run a political machine managed by long-time friends which managed to nearly bankrupt itself, was engaged in a web of lies among its members as to the situation and proved to have no Plan B when things went wrong and has been limping along since. Honestly, I got enough of cronyism, lies and failure to plan out of the Bush administration.

I won't go on at length about Obama except to state that he has run a fantastic grass-roots campaign, out-manuvered the Clinton machine repeatedly and continues to break contribution records by using wide-spread approach not considered by the other campaigns. Obama gets castigated for joking about his messy desk but has a winning campaign that has overturned the once-inevitable nomination of Clinton. Clinton tells us she's ready to lead the nation on "Day One" but, so far, has led an incompetant political machine that has made the Queen Bee an underdog who needs to try to game the rules to get herself seated. Who do you want as president?

"One barrel holds 31 gallons, which would make the price of gas about 9.6 cents a gallon. That’s merely a drop in the bucket from the $2.99 a gallon advertised at the gas stations along the route to St. Norbert College."

Gas is more than $3.00 a barrel, in fact gas is more than $3.00 a gal. If they can't even get the figures correct how are they going to find a solution to the problem?

If Hillary doesn't know why gas cost more than 9.6 cent a gallon how is she going to find a solution to bring it down? Refinery cost is not added to the barrel of gas, neither are all the Federal, State, County and Local taxes.

A woman was interviewed and she said she HAD to vote for Hillary. She was asked why. She said it was a great day for feminism and because of Hillary,s experience in the Senate. The reporter said that Hillary doesn't have that much more time in the Senate the Obama and the woman replied,"Yeah but she's got Bill to tell her what to do".

Stupid people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

The political part of the Feminist movement has become so fake. Like years ago before Bill Clinton, they said any man in a position of authority who has sex with a woman is raping her. Then along comes Bill and everything changes. If Bill started being physically abusive suddenly the NOW crowd would say that is good for women.

Hillary was senator for like 2 terms and first lady for two terms, obama became senator in 2004. nearly 3 or so years, honestly do we really believe he can do it? he can't even give a speech that is of his own, he knew it was his good friend's speech but did he still take it? yep. cmon, 3 years in state office and he thinks he can become president? the sad thing is ppl are voting for a man who are charismatic but probably get us into bigger trouble than a lady who can get us out of this big hole and set the nation straight. sad to see thats the way america wants to do this. If obama becomes president i would start looking for real estate across seas. and always have my passport on check.

thank you E. nelson. BIllary put the crown down.
