JOHNSTON, Iowa – When Jeff Volk, a New Yorker and "die-hard Bush supporter," got stuck in Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina, Sen. Hillary Clinton's office called him every day to make sure he was OK.
When doctor's diagnosed Shannon Mallozzi's daughter with a brain disease it was Clinton who took her hand and said "I'm a mom too."
And who helped Betsy Ebeling when she was a new 6th grader at the school in Park Ridge, Ill.?
You guess it: Sen. Clinton.
These stories and others were part of Clinton's newest charm offensive, unveiled on Day Two of her five-day barnstorm across Iowa. The push includes in-person, often-emotional testimonials at events across the state Monday, delivered by those who consider her a compassionate mother/friend/Senator, as well as a new campaign Web site, TheHillaryIKnow.com, which includes additional interviews from better-known supporters like Gen. Wesley Clark and former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack.
"Here in Iowa I want you to have some flavor of who I am outside of the television cameras, when all the cameras and lights disappear – what I do when nobody is listening or taking notes or recording it," Clinton said inside a packed barn in Johnston, as cameras recorded, lights flashed and reporters took notes.
Clinton's new topic and tone – more soft and measured – still contained the central theme of her "Every County Counts" tour speech about how she's the candidate most prepared to lead as president on Day One. However, she focused more today on her ability to provide a voice to the "invisible," like those who've had their jobs outsourced, live without healthcare or struggle with rising gas prices.
"I think it's one of the most important jobs as a president, for anyone in public life, to really listen to reach out and to learn and to work as hard as you can to make a difference," she said.

More love notes from the liberal press and LIBune, bought and paid for by the DNC. Really the Chicago Tribune should just change its name to DNC Beat, and have hearts and kisses and other "cool" stuff on its front page for Democrats just like an issue of Teen Beat.
Democrats are infighting in Washington, DC. You won't find that in the LIBune. NBC rejects an ad thanking the troops (though after much public pressure they did relent), you won't find that in the LIBune. Course the LIBune gets its agenda and to-do list from Media Matters to End America, Moveon.org, the DNC, DailyKook, et al.
Ahhh, the Chicago LIBune, where objectivity and truthfulness is NOT a way of life.

Gagg.... Hillary is a screaming B. This article and her actions lately are all manipulation. Look not at her positioning, but her record. She is after power, and does not care about anyone or anything else.

I find it scary and unnerving that "John D" knows so much about Teen Beat. Not only does he threaten violence and terror agaist Democrats, (Demoncrats in his words) but he also appears to be a child predator. Someone should notify his employer of this and he should followed.

Pardon me while I gag and throw up. Hillary's softer side? I'm sure Attila the Hun had one also; he just didn't have a press agent dreaming it up. This campaign just hit a new low for the ridiculous.

I'm not much of a Hillary fan, but anyone who doesn't think that running for the Presidency is about anything but power is completely naive. If anything, that's the lesson of 7+ years of Rove, Cheyney and Bush.

In following in the precedent that Bruce has set, I checked up on Ronald Kessler. Guess what? He's given $5,423 to Republicans, so that makes him a Republican biased, untrustworthy source.
Edward Klein? Out of 8 unique Edward Kleins, $1500 went to Democrats while over $8,800 went to Republicans.
The other names were too common to decipher their donations properly - not including the UNNAMED sources that Bruce uses.
