Concord, N.H. – Sen. Hillary Clinton was nearly an hour late to talk to voters at the Carter Hill Orchard Country Store today because she was busy meeting with the Concord Monitor editorial board for the second time this year.
But it was for a good reason: In the competition for New Hampshire newspaper endorsements, the Concord Monitor is one of the most prized. Yesterday, former President Bill Clinton spent two hours with the Monitor's editorial board working to persuade its members that his wife would make the best president of anyone running.
The candidate's husband described his wife as a "genius" and a "change agent" when it comes to education and health care, the newspaper reported.
"If people think she's a little too edgy, I'd ask them to just remember what she's been through in the last 15 years," the president said, referring to the Whitewater investigation in particular. "Many people would have been broken by what they did to her. Everything that Kenneth Starr and that crowd charged her with, every single thing has proved to be baseless."
Clinton's efforts to persuade newspaper editors that she is the best person to be the Democratic nominee worked in Keene. The Keene Sentinel, a liberal newspaper on the western edge of the state, endorsed her today.
"This newspaper has come to the conclusion that the candidate with the best ideas, as well as the imagination, know-how and bearing to carry them out, is Hillary Clinton," the paper wrote.
"She has the best health-insurance proposal of all the candidates, and there are several good proposals to choose from. She has significant international experience, considerably more than some of her rivals," said the endorsement. "Face-to-face, she is as personable, passionate and persuasive as any American political figure in recent memory, qualities that should come in handy in both domestic and international forums."
Meanwhile, at the Carter Hill Orchard, Clinton was introduced by two Republicans who are supporting her for president. Steve Walter of Londonderry, a former supporter of President Bush, talked about Clinton's support for embryonic stem cell research and his own son's struggle with diabetes. And Jeff Volk, a Republican from New York, described his family's desperate struggle to leave New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. Volk said he called FEMA and he called the White House, but the only place he got help was from Clinton's Senate office.

If Bill thinks so much of Hillary, why doesn't he ever spend a night with her?

And you believe him? Why? There is nothing particularly "genius" about being a party ideologue. You just have to mouth what the handlers say.

Oh no he didn't say that. After 15 years of what Ken Starr put her through? After what Bill Clinton put her and the whole country through with his whoring is what drives him to make that statement. Really, if you look closely at Bill Clinton, and listen to what he is saying you cannot help but believe that he is losing touch with reality. Really! People, we are to believe that that whole business hanky panky business is all a thing of the past and we've gotten over it, so let's go on and put Hillary/Bill in the White House once again, and everything will be just fine. Hillary/Bill will do all the nice things a president is supposed to do, and her husband can travel around the world helping to improve the U.S. image by sampling all the fresh, young, tasty delicacies there for the taking. I'll bet his imagination is just pinging off the wall at the thought.

Do you think sleeping with someone makes that someone a genius?
Hilary deserves the praises! You go, Hilary, and shut Obama up! If he cannot fulfill his responsibilities as Senator, he's not going to do much as President.

John E.:
You only display your ignorance and pettiness by saying such things. One need not be "angry" to tell the truth.
And, no, I didn't get my law degree from a community college. They don't award J.D.'s at community colleges. Not that this sophomoric swipe was un predictable. You get personal when you have nothing factual to say in reply. I thought you always complained about this kind of behavior from John D.
Grow up.
Merry Christmas.

My Ilk? What ilk?
So, just like John E., you have to attack me when you can't dispute the truth of what I said. Kill the messenger, huh? That makes it easy, doesn't it?

You have something there, GW. How can we trust him if he still can’t admit the true cause of his (and his wife’s) earlier troubles?
Moreover, if she's so traumatized from the Starr investigations that she is still exhibits “edginess,” why should we believe she is mentally healthy enough to run the country? How would she take the pressure of being in the middle of a genuine, national crisis? Would she respond by claiming, “They’re ganging up on me”? I think Bill's comments work against her.

Bill talked so highly of his wife-because he knows her best and believes in her..what does him not spending a night with her-or having an affair have to do with that Larry? Do you really think he is the first man to go stray? wake up, in the end he respects her.
