The 2008 presidential election is now just about 13 months in the future, and of course the first primary balloting is but three months away, just after the new year.
But sorting out all the conflicting claims of the candidates can be an ordeal.
You might think you like one candidate because he or she supports---or opposes---abortion rights. Or maybe your key concern is about immigration rights, granting the right to citizenship to those already here, or stopping more illegal immigrants from crossing the Mexican border.
But what if you take a variety of your views and see who is your ideal candidate? That's what television station WQAD in the Quad Cities region on the Illinois-Iowa border has done with a short questionnaire based on a tool developed by Minnesota Public Radio. There are 11 current affairs questions that might help you decide who would be your ideal president come January 2009.
Well, at least among those currently seeking the presidency.

Took that survey. Interesting. I'm most in tune with Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter. On the Dem side, while all were low, Joe Biden was the highest. Kucinich and Dudd came out on the bottom, barely behind the Queen B and Barack.

Has any candidate proven to you that they are more qualified to lead our country. It seems to me that both candidates have smeared each other to make us believe that one is better than the other with no real right or wrong, just opinions on how to move forward. Who do you consider has more experience and better judgment?---->

No surprise, Barack and Hillary were my top matches (I prefer Barack by magnitudes, but am thawing to acceptance of a Hillary nomination). Of the GOP, Giuliani was my top match followed by Ron Paul.
There is one thing I know for sure about this election: if somehow Rudolph Giuliani wins, the least qualified candidate as well as the most unpleasant AND the most Cheney/Rovian in character, I AM OUTTA HERE!
Shorter Giuliani: "There is nothing to fear but the lack of fear itself!"

I took the poll, which is so worthless it still has Jim Gilmore as a Republican presidential candidate (he dropped out months ago).
Not worth bothering with, or reporting about.

Touche, John Dn. Will you be leaving if "The Queen Bee" is elected? That would certainly make her significantly more to my liking.

There was a vote a few weeks back called the SEGREGATION FOREVER vote. All the Democrats voted for it except Obama who was afraid. Those Iraqis just can't get along, gotta keep them apart. Good enough for you Stan?

The questionaire didn't touch the most important issue: are the candidates Christian? After all, John McCain just told us that only good christians should be President of this christian nation.

"Rudy has used the horrible events of September 11 to create a persona that is an elaborate fabrication," says IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger. "He is nothing more than a shameless self-promoter."
