Rep. Jerry Weller (R-Ill.), who has faced ethics questions regarding his Nicaraguan investments, officially announced today that he will not seek another term.
Weller, 50, is in his seventh term in Congress, representing Illinois' 11th District. He said he wants to spend more time with his wife, Zury Rios de Weller, and their baby girl. Rios de Weller is a Guatemalan legislator.
"I want to see my daughter grow up, and we may even be blessed with a second child," Weller said. "Our priority is family," he said. "I want to be a good husband and I want to be a good father... For the benefit of my family, I can no longer seek another term in the United States House of Representatives."
He made his announcement during a luncheon address at the Joliet Area Chamber of Commerce, which gave him its "Spirit of Enterprise" award.
In recent weeks, the Tribune has reported about Weller's land holdings in Nicaragua. His spokesman, Andy Fuller, said the reports had nothing to do with Weller's decision not to run again.

So Jerry Weller (R-Illinois), who is on the list of 22 most corrupt members of Congress, is ready to spend more time with his family. Am I really supposed to believe that?? This man deserves a jail cell.

Now the 1st thing on the agenda Monday would be to have a Senate "Sense of the Senators" vote on Weller. Lets have a Senatorial vote to see if Weller should be Censored and asked to resign his statesmanship immediately.

Now that would be something to have an UP or Down Vote on. Maybe the Republicans FILLIBUSTER THAT TOO this week.

The implication that he can't be a good parent while serving in Congress is deeply insulting, offensive, misleading and ignorant to say.
